Hey guys! We'll be closing this thread shortly, but we will make an American politics megathread where we can continue the discussions in here.

Obama put the HC bill into effect dispite it lacking popular vote; and now my taxes are now getting rasied 675$+ annually. He said he wouldn't rasie taxes on the middle class (Under 250K a year household income)

He lied.

Golly. Sounds like you'd be better off just getting and enjoying the benefits of health insurance. Tee hee.

This is a terrible example, because it assumes a refusal to sign up for health care coverage, and doesn't acknowledge the bipartisan compromises Obama was forced to make per that issue.

Seriously, my GF went to a hospital, they did a CT and MRI and it was all free. Good thing too because otherwise it would have cost a crap ton of money and I wouldn't be able to finish school and become productive in society and instead backpedaling over debt for years to come.

No I'm not assuming a refusal to sign up for Obama care, I am Refusing.
It's stupid and shows a lack of competency.
I'd be better off sticking to me current plan of setting aside 300$/month into a privite non-taxable account that gains intrest. Oh wait I can't do that anymore, cause I have to take that 300$ and give it to the government in exchange for.....nothing.

Who wants to sign up for some greedy heath insurance plan that has restrictions, 100 pages of paperwork and disclaimers, only covers certain procedures, etc. Why should I get screwed over cause I am take care of myself?
Why is it ok to Lie to people?

It's the only example that one needs to know why he shouln't be elected.
No one should trust a liar with the most powerful seat of the free world.

Honestly this might sound harsh, but if thousands more people are covered and all you lose out in is 300 dollars a month that you were going to put in savings anyways, I don't care. Healthcare should be for everyone, and I mean everyone.

It does suck that it does not cover all procedures, for everyone, but it should. I feel like Obama wants to make it better than what it is, but was restricted in doing so.

Why are doctors and everybody else who treated your girlfriend working for free ? They also didn't even have to purchase that expensive medical equipment ? That's one hell of a unique hospital you visited.

Costs of MRIs in the states.
Orlando, FL $2,229
Dallas, TX - MRI Testing Facility A $3,624
Dallas, TX - MRI Testing Facility B $2,172
San Diego, CA $2,826
Salt Lake City, UT $1,694
Detroit, MI MRI $3,461
New York, NY - MRI Testing Facility A $1,785
New York, NY - MRI Testing Facility B $2,199
Raleigh, NC MRI $3,001
Omaha, NE MRI $2,502

In some states, the cost of an MRI is more than a year's tuition that I paid in Canada.

You're right that does sound harsh, but I understand that people like you are selfish. It's a sad fact of life I've had to come to accept of other people's behavior.

It's kool that I slack off, don't work, and use SayGens money to pay for things.
Now SayGen isn't covered and is exposed dispite his hardwork.
Screw SayGen least I got some protection.

Love it.

If you're core qualification for presidency is honesty, than you DEFINITELY should NOT vote for Mitt Romney.

PS. You plan of saving $300 a month stinks. It will never cover any serious injury or terminal illness, for you or someone you care about.

Love it.

Viva la America.

Yes, thank you for your sacrifice. Is it selfish too want the country to have decent access to healthcare? I got access to healthcare under my Mom's plan since I was a student when it was first passed and it allowed me to have it, can't imagine what kind of debt I'd be in if something had happened before that. Just like how I'm happy that if something happens to me eventually, I can have social security there for my family, or If I grow old, medicare will help me with the stupid expensive medicine. I don't see the difference at all.

If this makes me selfish to want everyone to have protection and healthcare and security, call me freaking selfish :D.

Saygen, I don't drink, smoke, I eat vegan, I get decent exercise. Yet something can still happen too me. Something can still happen too you. My grandfather was the healthiest person in my life, me and him climbed mountains together, he ate pretty damn well, only had a glass of wine here and there, and yet dies from a heart attack at 60. Don't tell me that random things can't happen, we don't have full control over our fates.

You're being rather annoying.

Canada hospitals are payed by the single payer system which ultimately ressembles a insurance company that covers all conditions and costs are reduce due to the large risk pool. Also it is a not for profit system, with competition between provinces for doctors and nurses etc.

It also promotes check-up which prevent symptoms for being too bad and thus too expensive.

SayGen say you get stabbed and someone steals your liver in the process, have enough cash for that? It's silly to say you are fully responsible, when your continually in dynamic interaction with people. You're not incontrol, you might be well off, but you don't have total control of your life, that's why you put away those 300$ in the first place.

Golly. Sounds like you'd be better off just getting and enjoying the benefits of health insurance. Tee hee.

Seriously, my GF went to a hospital, they did a CT and MRI and it was all free. Good thing too because otherwise it would have cost a crap ton of money and I wouldn't be able to finish school and become productive in society and instead backpedaling over debt for years to come.

Why are doctors and everybody else who treated your girlfriend working for free ? They also didn't even have to purchase that expensive medical equipment ? That's one hell of a unique hospital you visited.

This isn't a car dealership. Doctors don't get paid X amount of money for helping Y ammount of patients. It's a steady income. They get there check every month/2weeks, whatever the case may be. The hospital pays for the equipment. They don't pay out of pocket.
I'm assuming the government supplies them with the equipment.
I work at a grocery store and make 10c above minimum wage. I'm not payed based on how many groceries the store sells, i'm paid weekly by my advisers.
I'd like to see where you heard doctors work for free... They make bank.
Obama care in no way hurts the income of doctors. If it does I'd like to see a credible source.
