Give me a reason why American is currently exceptional (in a good way) and then I'll be ok with American Exceptionalism. Until then, it's purposeful ignorance of the problems we have in this country.

No, it's not democrats and liberals. It's other countries listening in and being mildly irritated that we're supposedly out in the dark because we didn't get a divinely inspired constitution.

What is there to be patriotic about exactly?

Your massive military?

I had overdosed on the American Exceptionalism yesterday, almost too nauseus to tune in tonight.
I feel the same way about the Democratic conventions too btw.

No, they don't wonder, that each side maintains different conceptions of patriotism and what it means to be an American is nothing new.

Huh? It's not "divinely inspired". It's intellectually inspired.

They should be patriotic about their own countries. However, there are too many American (who are predominantly democrats and liberals) that go out their way to crap on American exceptionalism or on America in general. It really is disgusting.

Depends where you live. The cost of living is not uniform across the US / Canada.

We no longer have a housing bubble

Some people see patriotism, others see willful ignorance.

I hate American exceptionalism, its nationalism with a thin veneer covering it.
That said, go America, we're fucking awesome and fuck any conservative who questions my patriotism!

Cheap goods come at a price. Some call it the "Wal-Mart" effect.

You see, Romney is much better when he talks about his family. He doesn't do 'anger' well, it comes off insincere. If he wants to win, he has to stay positive. Let everyone else do the dirty work.

I agree.

To be fair Mitt, America electing the first Black president was kind of sort of a big deal ...

However, there are too many American (who are predominantly democrats and liberals) that go out their way to crap on American exceptionalism or on America in general. It really is disgusting. What? A lot of us have identified that America isn't this super country anymore. Yes, America has a lot of excellent services and there are things to be proud of like the quality of some of the social services here. But what disgusts a lot of us most is this giant, exaggerated view of how America is number one and best country in the world when it clearly isn't and people just turning a blind eye to the problem. That doesn't disgust you in anyway?
I know people who absolutely believe we are the best country and people need to start following our system. They think we have the best education and support for the students when clearly it is not.
While there are things to be proud of here there are also A LOT of things that needs to resented like the ego and political system, which is extraordinarily flawed. It's general knowledge...
I am not biased against either parties nor am I trying to insinuate that these problems lie on one party. Instead we have a lot of problems but the ignorance and the mud flinging is annoying.
