There is always more to learn Boraz and some of it is about yourself. Why is somebody from Denmark even posting in here? Because a certain party (in your presidential election) never ceases to amuse. We need a thread for the next Canadian election. I'd really like the opportunity to return some smugness Jonny - dish out the info. I know NOTHING of Canada. Except something about Harper being bad. It's off topic but I think Canadian's are in for a reality check when commodity prices come back to Earth and their own debt problems come home to roost.
The reason Canada wasn't hit hard had nothing to do with commodity prices coming back to earth... It was because our products are regulated such that we can't have the rich get immensly richer at the expense of our nations wealth.
: P Canada's just fine.

Yeah, Minnesota is an interesting state when it comes to state politics; it's got a strong and influential independent voter sensibility, and along with Wisconsin y'all just seem to pump out influential politicians. And yes, thank god y'all did not elect Tom Emmer, he is pretty much the worst kind of Republican.
The ones that get out on the federal stage tend to make a name for themselves, though some in more positive ways than others. First time I saw my father cry was when Wellstone's plane went down (He worked on his first election campaign), I wish I could vote that man into the White House.

I'm hoping it's such a large win that accusations of voter fraud are out the window. call me crazy, but somehow, I don't think any recounts are going our way this time.

god that's annoying... lol The partisan bias is verry strong in all the republicans and democrats i have seen on cnn. Cnn expects to call the election around midnight eastern time, first results in 90 minutes. 8 more hours and this ordeal is over and can forget about the usa politics for the next 4 years. Just hope it doesnt end with a huge letdown, like obama winning with a landslide Would definatly feel fooled by the media if that happend.
I would be suprised if its not a landslide, considering all the betting sites had Obama as a huge favorite for about 6 months around 8 to 1 i believe. Forget the media forget the polling, if you want to know a good estiamte of somebody's chances thats where you should look xD.

If the USA votes for Romney the rest of the world should really start thinking if we really want a group of 200 milion people who vote for a president like that, to have such a great influence over the rest of the world. I'd rather not have 1 country so powerful at all, but I can live with Obama. I for sure don't want them to be policeman of the world when they elect Romneys and Bushes.

Maybe I'm too stupid to navigate their site, but is there anyway to get a stream of cnn (in germany)?
I would like to follow the election, but our german tv is so biased in favor of obama it almost makes me want to cheer romney. And isnt cnn the closest to neutral of the big US-american news networks?

Local news here in Miami just said multiple precincts in Broward county ran out of ballots.

Americans have very interesting ways of thinking about the world what can you do, let them ban women's rights and go complain about Iran while warring at will, Canada will do just find following behind staying finanically secure.

Just keep telling yourself that.
Debt / housing issues:
When the United States saw a vast housing bubble inflate and burst during the 2000s, many Canadians felt smug about the purported prudence of their financial and property markets. During the crash, Canadian house prices fell by just 8%, compared with more than 30% in America. They hit new record highs by 2010. “Canada was not a part of the problem,” Stephen Harper, the prime minister, boasted in 2010. Today the consensus is growing on Bay Street, Toronto's answer to Wall Street, that Mr Harper may have to eat his words. In response to America's slow economic recovery and uncertainty in Europe, the Bank of Canada has kept interest rates at record lows. Five-year fixed-rate mortgages now charge interest of just 2.99%. In response, Canadians have sought ever-bigger loans for ever-costlier homes. The country's house prices have doubled since 2002. http://www.economist.com/node/21546057 Reliance on commodities:
Canada is unusual among advanced economies. It is the only G7 country that is a major commodity exporter. The production of primary products accounts for roughly 11 per cent of our gross domestic product. While this is much smaller than it was 50 years ago, it is nearly three times the relative size of commodity production in the United States and far higher than that of most other industrialized countries (see Appendix, Chart 1). In addition, commodities account for roughly one third of our exports. http://www.bankofcanada.ca/2011/02/speeches/commodity-prices-longe-short-of-it/

Seriously, Florida needs some help in drastic improvement on how to run an election. It's a mess out there. It always has been.

I don't think any major US news outlet can be called particularly neutral, but I don't think it matters when it comes to election coverage. Everywhere, it's just a bunch of statistics with the occasional interview inbetween. You might as well watch fox news. However, you're probably better off watching a non-US station, bbc for example.

it's not going to be an Obama landslide the betting site have those odds because of the way the electorate is set up Romney would have to win at least 5 battle ground states which is going to be hard with polls in Ohio a point or two toward Obama. but there is no doubt the percentages will be really close bush and Kerry did not have such close polls on election day. even if one of them gets 300+ electoral college votes it won't be landslide.of
