Ok I am sure many of you know about the Kinder egg.. This is a small chocolate egg that you can buy which comes with a toy and is normally for kids.. See below.
![[image loading]](http://thegreatestmonth.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/08_kinder_egg.jpg)
This magical invention (chocolate and a toy) has delighted kids for many years and me and my mates all used to love them when we where kids.
We recently came up with a game that you can play with a friend/co-worker called the Kinderegg cup.. You basically buy 2 kinder eggs, you each pick your own egg and then you rate the toy on the below critieras.. Whoever has the best toy wins and is the new Kinder Egg champion
Rules 1) Toy Cars win.. Like a top trump card the toy car is the king of kinderegg toys, if you get one.. you win.. it has to have 4 wheels and colours but basically if you get a toy car you win
2) + points for the following + If you have to put it together + if it has lots of colour + if it does somthing + if its the best toy out of the range it is in. (you get a leaflet showing the others etc..) + for stickers :D 3) and again negative points for the below - for not having moving parts - for not being able to put it together.
4) you add your + points up and debate the worth of your toy, if the person your playing with agrees your toy is better.. you win. If a choice can't be made, either agree a draw (lame) or get an idepentant person to say which is better!
Eg. A spining top which you have to m ake which contains stickers and colours would beat a plain statue of a character (like sherk or sumthing)
It might be a bit sad .. but it makes lunch at work a little bit so often once or twice a week when we play it so i just thought i'd share it with you all !
Edit: we can also use this as a kinderegg appreciation thread so please say the wonderful toys you have got :D
Americans can't have these AFAIK (toy inside food vs lawsuit against everything = banned from stores)
I will play this vs my GF tonight however. Great game
I remember when I was a kid I used to put some baking soda and some water inside, shake them and throw them and they would explode. Fun stuff
Nothing to do with the topic tho lol.
These are the best things ever. The above poster is right though; they're extremely hard to find in America. We had an international market that sold them despite the ban, but they finally started cracking down on it, and they don't carry them anymore.
I had a giant Kinder egg for Easter. It was joyous.
Heh. I should have a basketful of those little plastic eggs left form my childhood as well. Should buy some indeed, haven't had those for like a decade.
Man, now I really want to go out and by a kinderegg
When I buy them for my kids now I am disappoint because the toy quality seems to have dropped from when I got them as a kid.
I once got a small Pig, it's back opened up to reveal paints, it's head was a water holder, and it's tail a pull out paintbrush. It would have won your Kinderegg Cup 3 times in a row, it was a glorious day.
It is so sad kids from USA never had opportunity to enjoy pure happiness that comes with Kindereggs.
Kindereggs were through my entire childhood some kind of cheap and easily accessible happiness machine. -,-
I still have more then thousand toys in bunch of boxes somewhere in old garage, I might go and look for them one of these days and I will surely buy Kinderegg first time I go out... oh memories, sweet memories. :-)
Btw, nice game!

It seems that the only way to get them now is through relatives in a European nation. Some of my family came by to visit and I got some. I hope I haven't eaten them all by now, I'd like to try this game...

We're actually not allowed to have them because of choking hazardous parts. Which is ridiculous, considering the egg is pretty large and hard to choke on in my opinion. I mean. Who puts the whole egg in their mouth and not chew??
Either way... THERE are some places in New York City that sell these eggs... So I might just try this.
Man I've never seen one of these in my life..... I feel so robbed..
used to love these as a kid, it has been far too long since i had one.

I'm pretty sure the harzardous parts are the ones the "surprise" is built by. There are often fairly small plastic parts that you build together into a mini transformer or something.

That really is more than unfortunate and a joke to be honest, they taste pretty good... choking hazardous parts? I mean that might be something new - but there are not only children in the US who potentially could choke on small parts(god forbid stupid adults who try to swallow that egg)... where is the battlecry for self responsibility?
Haha I remember those. You'd need a degree in engineering to assemble some of the toys, they had like a million parts. Well last time I had one I was like 8 or 9 so that might've changed my point of view a bit :D
i remember demanding a few as a child while at the supermarket with my mother. i'm deeply ashamed, and wish my mother had visciously beaten me with a fire poker as punishment for being stupid enough to beg for such low quality junk when given the choice of the entire confectionary stand.
unbelievable rip off. the chocolate is gross low quality crap, worse than a standard easter egg, and the toy is vastly inferior to any free tat you could have got out of a cereal box in the 90's.
kinder egg = foil-wrapped, egg-shaped disappointment.
edit: cadbury creme egg unzips and squirts warm water all over kinder egg's face.
I used to have kinderegg when I was small. Fast forward five years and I have no idea what happened to them. I liked them better where one half had cream and those two chocolate balls with the small plastic spoon. Now its just an outer covering of an egg which has the toy. I was sad :/ but it is still tasty nevertheless.

In Indonesia we still have those versions :D
I haven't eaten one of those since 5th grade, and I'm 22 now, but I'll definitely play this with my brother or my gf when I see one of them.
Had mine at easter. Every easter. Only few have had anything cool in them, though.
back in MY day it was nigh impossible to open up the kindereggs, many times i had to bug my parents to help me open it. Kids these days have it easy when it comes to actually opening up the capsule.
I remember having these as a kid, so many times
Anyone remember the Tiny Terrapin things you got in them at one stage? I remember having literally dozens of the little buggers lol (I went through a stage of ONLY ever asking for a kinder egg when I wanted a sweet, for about 4-5 months ).
They wouldn't give much of a score in the game I must admit, but they were pretty cool. I think I might have had about 7-8 types of them and quite a few doubles.

I haven't had Kindereggs in so long (my dad used to bring them back when he'd travel to Europe for business). I want to play sooo badly T.T.
If someone's offering Kinder I'll happily take it off your hands, illegal in America or not :D. I looooooove this stuff.

ROFL
I actually remember these ! I had the one with the mellon sat on my computer for years!
I think these get bonus points for being cool but your right they would almost never win simply because they are not rare and dont do anything lol
God I love these. I grew up in Europe but when I moved back to the US, I brought a couple of egg crates filled with these eggs, and even now I ask friends going to Europe to bring them back. I still have one sitting on my bookshelf at home; I think I will probably only eat it when I know for sure I can get a few more to keep me going hahaha
i once heard a story, that a canadian woman had to pay 300 dollar, because she was caught at an american airport with one kinderegg. Oo
nice game btw, gonna try :-)
My dads friend brings some of these to America whenever he comes over. They are fun
Wow really? I had no idea the US couldn't have these....it's like watching someone else have their childhood robbed from them....
Kinderegg means "Children egg" ("Kind" is "child", "Kinder" is children.")
It's commonly called Überraschungsei in German ("suprise egg".) I bought some of them in my childhood. In one egg I found a particular toy I liked, but then lost in school. I bought another egg and got the same toy in it, despite the low chance. Later I lost that one, too.
Other stories of my Überraschungsei experiences involves a Norwegian girl and is too personal to share.
Oh joy. Kindereggs are banned in the US for "containing a non-nutritative substance". What I don't get is why we aren't banning happy meals, too, because they contain toys as well. Oh, the cardboard containers for the fries and the paper for the burger and the bag are also non-nutritative. We should totally ban those as well! /endrant.
I dunno but I recall when I was 5-8 or so (21 now) and there were like 15 parts that you had to assemble into some strange mechanical thing. A few years later a tried a few and got disney sculptures that were in 2-3 pieces. Such a disappointment. Never had them since. Are there "complicated" mechanical treasures still to be found in these eggs today, if you buy them in Europe?

Those are pretty cool. They don't look like plastic, though, which is odd. They ceramic or something?

I think they were painted plastic. I'm not 100% sure really, and I think all mine are long lost (these were from YEARS ago) so I cannot confirm.
Edit - While thinking about it, I'm beginning to think they might have been ceramic... Ho hum... I'm sure someone will correct me if they are

holy - what a flashback :D
I remember those, they were pretty cool back in the days
iirc they were made of plastic but pretty solid and actually quite high quality in comparison to nowadays toys in kinder eggs... or I am getting old
Thx anyway for remembering me of this old gem :D
I concur with the game stating the toys are crap, but holy fuck the chocolate is delicious.
If only there were a way of only buying the chocolate in large quantities without toys.
I had no idea Americans couldn't get these. That sucks.
Im jealous. Kindereggs would have been awesome to have as a kid.
When my family lived in Germany, my brother and I would demolish those things, but the toy was hit or miss. The last time I had one was in 5th grade. We had a German exchange student live with us and he came to visit years after that and brought them. I can't find them anywhere in the States but it seems everyone is in agreement that they're banned.
I only get them in the US when someone brings them back from Germany.
I remember my aunt bought tons of these to take back to the US and they wouldn't let her on the plane with them, so she gave them to me and my brother. The chocolate is thin but so good.
I would give -points for the stickers
my friends mom gave me one of these. i got a toy car. i win

I remember when i lived in mexico as a kid i used to buy these all the time! :D i love em still buy em today every time i go to mexico Never seen one in the US though
The last time I bought one of those, I was very disappointed I expected an awesome toy. Instead I got a 6 piece puzzle.... I bought this last month in Albert Hein T_T
I buy those from time to time.
But let's be honest they don't taste as good in bars as they do in egg shape.
Oh god I love kindereggs :3 I had a kinder easter egg, basically same thing but giant :DD
Will have to play this game sometime
I'm so sad. I didn't even know these existed. I remember hearing about them(eggs w/ toys WHAT that sounds AWESOME!!!) and wanting one once when I was little but never finding one and giving up =_(. I've NEVER had one and now my Easter is spoiled
Made mostly for kids?? I buy one of these every time I go shopping lol, and this game looks pretty fun lol

I just crushed this game GM style:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/MeBOW.jpg)
It had like 12 parts, it moves (quite smoothly), and it's awesome! How many points do I get?

Lol my sister got one of these when we played the other day.. Hers had green wheels and a whale on the sail You would have lost to a car
where you playing against anybody or did you just buy it for fun!
Playing against my gf, who was also playing against her workmates.
I haven't seen a car in AGES. Also got a stupid puzzle and and a huge (considering it came from a kinder egg) glider that doesn't quite fly/glide/whatever.
And I'm not arguing the rules but that sail thing is way cooler than cars since it rides very smooth, just blow on it!

Maaaaaaaaan
Kindereggs were part of in my childhood, soooooooo good, best candy ever. But so expensive too :|
We call them Kinderovo here.
I had all of those:
![[image loading]](http://s0.flogao.com.br/s45/18/04/07/121/100792735.jpg)
and so many more others that required you to build the toy
Biggest nostalgic thread ever. Lived in Germany and had these things like once a week, now in USA.. they are nowhere T____________T
Maybe I'm weird but I always liked how the toy still smelled like the chocolate egg for a very long time. I also had an old happy meal toy from when I lived in Poland, and it still smelled like a hamburger forever. Never had that phenomenon with American toys.

Are these merchandise really prohibited in USA? I am feeling that people are just jockingly trolling around with that news. These items seems to innocuous to a regular person!
If so, I don't know how to console you, neighbors of the south. Edibles certainly won't extend one's happiness and a toy will not grant you the instant satisfaction. Kinderegg merges those two together. It really is the most perfect combination!
terrible game but kindersurprise chocolate is the best
i remember so many childhood memories from Kinderegg. I had a whole collection of the toys, i had a table full of htese. Would buy even more eggs just for the chocolate, toys were bonus. God i could eat kinderegg chocolate all day long.
