The point is to have everything be at a standard level of quality tho. Not just 1 really nice piece to make it stand out, but having everything generally nice but remembered. Look like not even a shoelace out of place. As for why spend a ton of money... Dunno. But nice shoes are ez way to step up how you look. Also on Zara, i have a few things. Not the best quality every (prices a bit high for it) but there's some designs and cuts i like

Sometimes a shoelace out of place is meant to be out of place too

I think AE makes wonderful entry level shoes (you can get fifth ave for 229 right now) and they make resoling so easy (though expensive). Alden sort of developed a cult following over the years that really drove up their prices (try shoemart for 2nds), and they really aren't worth it for calf. Cordovan are different stories, and I don't have any experience with either. I say just stick with AE sales and 2nds, you can probably pick up some really nice stuff for 2x price of Aldo, and they are 200% worth it. Speaking of boots: Thinking of picking this up: Japanese artisan with Japanese leather. Roughly $700, could be a winter 'investment' Really amazing stuff here: http://motostyle.jp/leather-silver/item/mensboots/mens-top.html actually aldens are pretty much at the same price as AE barring the latter's sales. a difference of 50-100 dollars isn't much considering both cost anywhere between 200-400, and 500-600 for cordovans. They're both mid-tier, quality leather goods. speaking of cordovan shoes, I don't own it but the difference between it and saddle/bridle leather is night and day. The artisan shoes you linked look amazing but they're seriously out of most of our budgets. just like these ;o; http://www.grenson.co.uk/en_us/shop/0007-25742 On October 10 2012 07:43 Reno(TE) wrote: What do you guys think about the clothing range Zara produce? zara used to have top-quality clothing but since ~08 they started going through major brand dilution. their stuff is comparable to asos now, which doesn't have great quality to begin with but it's cheap.

Saw some really nice clothes the time I went to the States, but I'm Canadian so clothes are more expensive and less varied with less brand selection. ![]() my favorite fucking hoodie...its so comfortable and sexy black edit: mine is black

Perhaps not compared to a cheap H&M $20 hoodie etc, but in general? Well this one was about 80 euros. The material gives off no static electricity. Static electriity on other clothes fucks my headphones up a bit so that's one. Designer clothes are also made to last. The quality of the clothes means you can expect it to last easily 4-5 years with normal wear. Also they look nice and they pretty much it is a completely different feeling when you feel it against your skin because just the overall quality of clothing is simply superior. Go window shopping and check out some nice clothes at a big retailer store to see the difference tbh also this hoodie is designed for spring-summer use. It's extremely thin so it's not something that can really be used when it gets colder

Hm, how often do you tend to wear one article of clothing? Since I had never been particularly fashion-conscious, I tend to find a piece of outerwear that I like a lot and end up wearing it for a very long time alone. If I wore a piece of clothing every other day, I doubt anything could last for that many years (right?)...on the other end of the spectrum I was thinking maybe some of you guys own many articles of clothing, so over such a time period maybe you don't wear it too much?

Pants differ though. 3 chinos and 3 jeans make up the majority of my bottomwear, and those get worn quite a lot. I can go through all 6 on a diverse week (although I generally pick 2-3 for a week and stick with those colors). Hoodies get worn till I notice a smell. Of course if anything starts smelling it goes in the wash (or fabreze). So if its something you're wearing every other day, consider getting an alternate.
