Ah yeah I get what you mean. Although I thought chelseas were pretty versatile in terms of bridging streetwear and formalwear
I'm not really sure about boots at that pricepoint. MMM on yoox frequent goes anywhere between 250-350, anything more than that is not worth buying. Guidi sidezips/backzips, CCP tornados/sidezips are great if you have a more generous budget.
Thanks, although I don't know much about guidi/ccp (any resources? SZ?), they're probably out of my budget and maybe not quite my aesthetic yet

they're versatile in the way that you can style them with suit pants, denim, slacks, etc. the way they're worn is what I'm actually referring to. no wide hems and very rarely do you see them with cropped trousers. try APC chelseas if you want? their denim has fallen off quite a bit but their shirts, outerwear, and footwear is still pretty good.
styleforum, sufu, szg all offer their own perspectives. In my opinion, I find styleforum answers questions regarding fit, sizing, quality, and where to buy. szg threads give you a broad, sweeping overview on the ideas/creativity/themes behind clothing, as well as details about the quality. sufu is a mix of the two but doesn't do either particularly well. the downfall of all 3 (really all forums in general) is their tendency to groupthink and circlejerk. I'd look on all 3 as each offers their own slightly unique perspectives on a brand. for information regarding Guidi and CCP, szg is the best place to look, followed by sf. the latter actually has a gigantic thread where everything from questions to new releases by 'atelier' designers are posted.
these are guidi backzips + Show Spoiler + like you mentioned, the aesthetic is not for everyone.
mmm sidezips are much more versatile and easier to pull off; if you do find any alternatives, feel free to share. to my knowledge nobody in that pricepoint makes a comparable boot with the same shape and toebox; granted you could include quality in there but mmm hasn't had good quality since 07 or smth lol.
last edit: if you're a 44 and you don't mind lightly used clothing, here's a pair of mmm black sidezips - link

I'm looking for a pair or two of nice gloves, with winter coming up. Likely something like THESE as well as a more casual pair of knit gloves for when they're appropriate.
My problem is that sizing is typically done by hand width, and while my hands are pretty average width-wise, they're large overall, with long fingers. I'm doubting I'll get an appropriate fit, and these don't seem to be the sort of thing I could get altered after purchasing. Thoughts? Anyone have tips on getting a good fit? Online stores with good return policies and reasonably fast shipping? We've already got a foot of snow on the ground here, so the faster I can get my hands on a good pair, the better!

Getting a good fit on gloves = Try them, get a pair that's a bit small to begin with because they will stretch.

Behind-the-head earmuffs for guys, what's your take on it (eg: 180s)? Fuggin cold in Canada, keeping your ears warm is a must... I like them way better then hats/beanies tbh, but I know there's mixed opinions out there

There's such a wide array of different hats, I'd never do the earmuffs personally.

So I am just getting into fashion, never too late, right?
Shoes: - I was looking to buy some nice brown pointed shoes, excuse my lack of terminology or knowledge, recently. I am a size 12 but even the size 11 was like an inch too big. Is that common, expected with pointed shoes? Should I get size 12?
I have 2 belts. One leather reversible one with black/brown for dress pants. Then a bigger, older one for jeans. Is this something that I should get more of? The only thing I know about belts is that they should match your shoes.
What about face care. I really only use after shave on my face. No lotions or exfoliate or anything else. What are some basics that I should know?
How do you guys order clothing articles online when you don't know how it will fit. I am under the impression that everything you wear needs to be fitted, so isn't ordering online risky for shirts, pants, etc?

There's too much shit on their gloves.
I want minimalistic black leather gloves.
Is that so hard?

I do not like wearing hats at all and the hats that actually keep you warm look ridiculous anyway. Go with the earmuffs every time. Hell, traditional earmuffs are fine too. Style should be secondary to keeping warm.

Since you mentioned Germany, get a Jack Wolfskin. Bonus: You'll fit right in as JW jacket are insanely popular everyday wear here.

how low should i wait for cps to go down? retail $420ish so i can't expect more than 70% right? like $300?
i realized i dont really want a lot of stuff for xmas. some uniqlo basics, everlane Ts, but i think i might just pick up CPs and have the versatile shoe rather than slowly pick up pieces for an aesthetic i still dunno

What would you guys pick in terms of color combo for a watch like this? There's silver/black, gold/black, silver/white and gold/white as well as 5 colors for the strap (black, dark grey, light grey, tan and navy). I wear jeans and an obcd most days for work so any suggestions are welcome! It's from a kickstarter I've backed so I have to pick one.

If you're looking for a pair of boots for actual winter conditions you might want to consider another brand as most Red Wings are "dress boots" that aren't really for poor conditions. Otherwise I think the Iron ranger is fairly rugged and you can always go to a shoe guy to add a winter specific topper for the sole if necessary. What brands would you recommend for tough conditions? I'll probably step in some slush and snow for daily travel but would be inside for most of the day.
Danner makes some pretty good boots. Oak street bootmakers is also really nice but I don't know how high your budget goes (latter tends to trend closer high 200/300s).

Those look nice but I'd like to buy something that I can try on in retail stores.

http://feetlot.com/ is a pretty handy site where you can input your sizes in shoes you own and compare to other brands for sizing. Has OSB but not danner I think. There are a few quirks with boots like width but it's worked pretty well for me for most things.

your foot isn't going to reach the end of the toebox when you wear an oxford (a "pointy shoe"). in absolute terms, length is irrelevant and you should consider how well the shoes fit width-wise as well. also depends on the company that makes the shoes since you may have needed to size down
having more belts is always nice but is more of a luxury than anything
to buy stuff only you measure yourself and compare to the measurements posted on the website. doing some research doesn't hurt either
