I think this thread should really advocate and educate to step away from black whenever possible. There are still plenty of people who think that black button down shirts can look good (on white people!)...
Aesthetic perception needs to grow through exposure. Style is a skill that needs to be developed (and has culturally developed) and requires that you have a fair share of experience. I think after some time of caring about it, almost everyone would agree, that there are very few styles that involve black that look better than the same outfit in other colors. Sure, good looking people in good fits do not look bad, but they could look better! :-) Took me too long to realize myself, so I rather try to hint into the right direction, as this thread was drifting strongly into the other direction. Needs some antipole opinion (do you say that on english?) and more color!
Yeah I started on friday becoming more aware about fashion. I'm still a complete noob but managed to put something on that was nicer. It was a cotton check green shirt with a borwn shirt under, brown belt with light blue jeans and a black cotton fall jacket . I guess once you're aware you just start learning so fast. Today at school was a whole other experience, you start recognizing good dress and bad... crazy.

Well in that specific case i would say that pulse fits within that subculture, and asked for something specific because he knew he'd get some answers
But i can agree with a lot.
Also black for dark greys, brown for navys and light grays. Someone posted a color chart somewhere once for shoes and suit color
Post some fits

I actually rarely wear black on black as I don't have much black pieces. I would actually do gothninja if I had all the pieces during Canadian winter (it gets pretty fucking cold) bu alas I can't afford all of them at once. I tried my friend's fit (he has a lot of fucking money and is physically the same as myself) of full Rick and it looked fantastic on me. Shame I didn't take a picture but I guess there's always next time.
I'm just really inspired by Yohji and Rick even though I don't own any of their pieces. In general, I don't think black on black actually works out unless you're slim though. I own a single black button down shirt and it I get complimented whenever I wear it quite often.
tl;dr black works out on me u mad
ps: juliette maybe if i can convince my friend that its 100% hetereosexual for men to take pics of men ill post wiwt4u even though im drabby as FUCK today ok because i had 4 hours of sleep and most of my clothes were wet because fuck the dryer

I was told (in the shop) that black shoes are the most universal and go with about every colour of suit. Brown shoes can be ok also they said, specially below a navy coloured suit, they are a bit more sporty and less informal but brown shoes below a light grey suit was definatly not done (they should be black according to the sales guy) However after looking around a bit i noticed tons of people having brown shoes below grey or dark suits wich made me doubt again, my favorit pair of shoes is brown and now i like to know if i can safely wear them below a grey suit or if i realy should wear black shoes below that.
I think it depends pretty much on the brown as well. Basically brown goes with everything except for a black suit/dinner jacket, just like the chart a few pages ago suggested.
For a dark anthracite / charcoal grey, I think a bright brown like cognac or walnut fits a little better than chocolate, but it really depends on the tone and also on the design.
Black shoes are more important for conservative business dresses, as brown might lead to negative comments in very conservative areas. Still, the latest styleforum challenge for CBD was won by this:

And I think it looks fantastic.

I still imagine a black dude that says finna a lot.
Also on pants wear some girl jeans brah. Actually i was gonna say alpha khaki because the grey looks really damn good but that'd be baggy on you cause they're kinda large on me

+ Show Spoiler + I hate the length on the cotton checked shirt, so long, I think it was meant for tucking in but I have a short upper body and long legs so tucking in usually makes me look really odd. Also they put the extra buttons in such a bad place... it's where those 2 white dots are after the last button.

prolly meant for tucking in
i dont like the shirt under the shirt, or that large jacket. gives you the effect of very big
here's me today
+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/7eGFfQe.jpg) Everlane/APC/Nike was wearing a hat too
kinda sobering to think about how simple it is but its really like $400. not that i haven't gotten my money's worth out of these jeans (and the shoes are good for runs, though i need to break them in still), but still.
The XS shirt stretched out a bit but still kinda tight around the chest.
def going with a different cut for jeans next time. feels kinda loose, maybe i didnt size down enough. im happy with my fadezz though. about 8months, no wash. think its time?

I like the suit, but that tie is a little bit boring for my tastes.
As for the whole blue suit/brown shoes thing, I personally like the look and wear it fairly often (usually with my cowboy boots). However, I do get a fair amount of snide remarks from colleagues.

also make sure to never have a regular shirt under button down shirts like that brown one you have there.
I don't know, parents got it for me. I need to start ordering some things online in order to start getting an idea of what I need. Time to get a wardrobe going. ---- Nice! really like the jeans...

1. I don't think the jacket goes well with the shirt. Unless you zip up the jacket. It just looks a little weird. 2. Regarding the length of the shirt, it's true that it is too long. Either buy a smaller size, tuck it in and change the outfit to different pants etc, or simply don't buy the shirt. 3. The extra buttons shouldn't be there at all, it makes it seem as if the shirt was made to be tucked in. If I was picky, I wouldn't wear a shirt that displayed the buttons like that. 4. The shirt under the shirt, you can actually see green printing on the T Shirt and that is a no-no because it means there are unmatching styles between shirt and Tshirt. A black Tshirt without the printing would be okay.
So yeah, remove jacket, fix the length, fix the buttons, and fix the undershirt.
It is not that bad, but don't expect to impress a girl with this outfit! cheers.
