I don't know if I want to budget $300 or so this summer, but I live close enough to Self Edge (the LA one) to visit over the summer. I know they have 3sixteen + for sure. I might just go and make a decision there based on actually trying them on. I'm more partial to the patch than the embroidery on momos tbh. I don't really like patches at this point. NOT MINIMALISTIC ENOUGH
How do black raws look after fades + wash? I can't seem to find a picture anyway. Though I'm kinda waiting on uniqlo MIJs for black.

Other background info: I'm white, Dark Hair, light eyes, and a light complexion with some freckles. Basically I don't tan the best is what I'm trying to say. Don't worry so much about popularity. Especially cause its college most people will be wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. worry more about finding something you like for yourself. If you're comfortable with tshirts and jeans keep it and just upgrade the shirts and jeans you have. As for having a light complexion, just make sure you don't buy stuff with a heavy contrast (let's say, a bright purple shirt). Unless you like that look.

more like hoodies sweats and uggs. or jeans and riding boots. or hoodie and gym shorts. or that occasional guy that visits mfa with an ocbd, chinos, and desert boots looool. don't worry, whatever you wore in hs is fine for college.
black denim fades to a navy instead of the light aquamarine of indigo denim. pjb black denim fades are p nice, go look it up on rawr denim.

ive vistited mfa once and I do that sometimes lol. to be fair im not very streetwear. time to get some rafs and be a real baller i guess. the girls are the worst though. you can only see so many yoga pants and northface jackets before you just categorize them together
as a tip though, get a suit for college. doesnt have to be expensive, but make sure it fits right. you'll use it at least a few times for fairs and interviews and formals that you may as well. dont worry about right away but at some point before the end of 1st year maybe.
shit i might get good black denim then. i like my jeans dark

You will buy a suit only to go to 3 interviews where your suit will probably not matter in the slightest? There surely has to be a better justification for buying a suit lol

shit i might get good black denim then. i like my jeans dark I like dark denim too, I wear some light, but I find it doesn't look as nice unless it is like colored denim (like white denim). That Rawr denim places is awesome O.o. Also it's less about popularity, but more about not sticking out like a sore thumb , though I bet you are guys are right and it's gonna be a pretty chill thing where no one really gives two shits about what I wear so long as it isn't completely off the wall crazy.

There surely has to be a better justification for buying a suit lol 3 interviews where you could get an important job/internship. having a suit for the future when you start your career (slowly building up a professional wardrobe during college is a good idea). it might matter to some people because your personal presentation is very important.
also its not like you have to buy a good suit, it just has to look good. i've spent no more than $200 on my not so fantastic fused canvas not 100% wool suit (with tailoring costs) and it'll get me through college fine, although i'll prolly get something decent in another year or so.
it's good to know you have one and can be your best if necessary.

you'll be fine ^^. there really are more important things to worry about in college. just be comfortable in what you're wearing and be open minded. much more advice to give outside of dressing in college than in it.
best of luck and we're here if necessary !

I've been wearing these brown Lacoste shoes but i feel like they don't really match ( I also heard you're not supposed to wear brown shoes with black pants??). I'm looking for a more casual type of shoe I can wear anywhere( mostly just to school). Oh, and I'm 19 if that's of any relevance. Thanks! some kind of sneakers
price range (and i guess color preference, though white/black is generally good) will determine what
you can do better than gap for that price
https://www.everlane.com/ and http://www.uniqlo.com/us/mens-clothing for shirts (both t shirts and ocbds). dunno about henleys. club monaco has some for sale sometimes ( dont buy at retail though, but you can always use college student discount). dont buy a really cheap blazer made of bad material. just get a sweater or cardigan (again club monaco has them for $30 sometimes, super cheap for merino)
speaking of uniqlo restocked OCBDs today but theyre prolly low on sizing again. they need to restock mijs already
i sound kinda like some dude from SF but i mean

my order came in today and i'm very happy. Watch out for sizing though. I ordered XS (i'm about 34.5" chest, 5'6") and they're slightly tight and a little long. I'd probably do fine in S. XS still looks great though, but don't be afraid to try sizing up
|
if there's a muji in your area I'd definitely take muji over uniqlo. really the hype uniqlo gets is overblown, the only things worth getting there are underwear, their designer collections (jil sanders & undercover), and the cashmere. surprisingly out of all the mainstream stores that sell cashmere products uniqlo's had the longest longevity and highest quality.
if you're looking for fashion on the cheap, I suggest Zara. I think their s/s 2012 was an exact copy of balmain's, lol.
edit: also for everlane it shrinks a lot so for me at 175cm size 35/45 chest the xs are now too short/small. I would recommend sizing up. everlane is good for its price with regards to its tees; I wouldn't recommend buying anything else there. their cashmere collection is rather mediocre and their ocbds are decent but not worth the price tag.

how does sifr size with regard to shirts?
zara has free quick shipping too by the way. i might pick up some shorts from them for this summer. not sure if i want to try some of their tshirts (the looser ones at least), might till i can fit in store
|
sifr fits slimmer and longer than everlane. btw if anyone is debating buying jcrew tees, those are cut more boxy. I used to have a picture comparing everlane and jcrew fits but idk where that is now.
|
shoot i hope the everlane shirt stretches a bit. if it shrinks much more i might not be able to wear it. will size S on sifr then.
my beater tees are still banana republic ones i've had for 3+ years lol. $3 a piece so worth it.

Generally speaking, if you have a piece you want to wear, how do you find what would go nicely with it?
I recently picked up a few spring jackets 80% off on a clearance rack that I feel looked pretty nice, but I don't know what to wear under them, what colors to use with them, etc.

color wise, a little color theory doesn't hurt anyone. complimentary colors, especially when subtle, go pretty good. otherwise, colors that are next to each other (say yellow/orange/red) can work okay, especially with neutrals. color theory is actually really cool to read about lol.
i generally don't buy stuff that wouldn't fit into what i own already (ie i dont own any leather because i have nothing to wear it with) so i cant really help you there. what do you normally wear?
