By the way this is not kickboxing, kickboxing you shouldn't be allowed to throw low kicks or knees. Only in thai you are allowed to this. What is elky thinking figthing english boxing??, The most widely used kickboxing rules are K1 rules. You're probably thinking more American kickboxing, which is a fucking awful sport. Or I guess Savate since you're Belgian? I'm not too familiar with the rules. There are different clinch rules, and no elbows, but you can say it's pretty similar to Muay Thai.
Savate is french. I did kickboxing and that's above the belt. I always thought below the belt was pretty lame anyway.

Definitely fun to watch though. Just picked up kickboxing again after years of fishing which makes me appreciate this even more.

And if that were the case, where are all the vale tudo fans? It's just another combat sport. I'm sure there's a significant group of tapout wearing idiots who think it's "real combat" but boxing, kickboxing and mma are all just different sports, and there's reason to appreciate and enjoy them all.

Elky: 'Not enough energy. We require more minerals.'

I'm pretty sure he wrote that to counter your cocky statement about kickboxing being the best combat sport.

btw, was that joop ubeda, it's showtime's ref? I think it was O_O

Elky's technique didn't look very refined.

Yes it was. Elky got his ass handed to him so hard...

For as hyped up as this bet was and the amount of time they spent "training" I expected them to be in much better physical condition... Regardless, good fight those kicks were sick.

So how did they get so wealthy to blow "sixfigs" on a boxing match like this?
|
Good effort! Tobad Elky looked quite outmatched in this, guess he shoulda made it a BW showmatch instead :D
As for everyone comparing the rules. This was either K1(modern japanese ruleset) or some dutch set of kickboxing rules, judging by the use of kicks and knees, but the ref always breaking up clinching. Most Western kickboxing doesn't allow elbows/knees/clinching. Some allow knees/limited clinching
Muay Thai allows all of these and can usually be recognized if you see elbow blows as these are pretty much prohibited in all other kickboxing styles.

Poker, just google Elky's tournament winnings.

Dam, I didn't think it was going to be the KICKS that's going to win the fight.

I couldn't make it out clearly but I'm pretty sure I heard Fatima Moreira de Melo shouting "Lexy!!!!" somewhere in the middle. She is the girlfriend of Raymond Sluiter and both are good friends with Lex.

oh wow this actually happened lol

Haha, that was fun to watch. It got annoying at the end though with the terrible camera job and the swearing/shouting of the dutch fans while the fight was already over. tbh, it didn't look like Elky trained 4h a day for any period of time. His technique was lacking and he got tired soon also.
