Doubts about English Test [TOEFL in Latinamerica]

Hi there guys, I'm from Santiago, and I remember that at some point of my life (paraguay probably) I took or the Cambridge or the TOEFL test and I sort of remember the score and I'm trying to find those papers to use them as curriculum for Le stUff with people that don't speak Spanish nor Portuguese.

Well, the thing is that I found this "Comparison table" of English test scores.

I wanted to know if it's really like that so I can say that I'm at "some level" of english...

The image is from http://secure.vec.bc.ca/toefl-equivalency-table.cfm, is it truthful ?

Oh and I searched old posts, there was a broken link to a "pdf version" and no much info and here in santiago there are lots of places were you can take an English test but some of them are really expensive. (100$ difference sometimes and with that I invite 1 night lololol).

PS: I ask this cz the most popular test here in santiago I think it's TOEFL (I might be wrong) but I wanna know if it's really worth to do that one or maybe look out for another one more "Valid" or whatever.

Can someone change the topic title to Doubts about English Test [TOEFL & Others in Latinamerica] so ppl don't think that I'm asking only about toefl since I'm comparing them with others.

TOEFL is extremely valid.

TOEFL is what basically all schools in the US use for English competency & is typically required for international students.
Though there are obviously multiple tests, that one is the most recognized.

And yeah, tests are unnecessarily expensive. I just took my GRE, and it was $160 =\

Ok, so there is no need to compare it to those other tests ? and I assume that the levels are correct 1 to 15 (Top Level) according to the punctuation you can get on the TOEFL Test (eve if its on paper, CBT or iBT ?)

You have to do them all ? Because here they just say "Take the TOEFL" but no info about the details and specs of the test.

I took it and i'm pretty sure most people regard it as very valid.

The thing I don't like about it is that its really really expensive and it only last for 2 years. After that, u have to take it again.

they have 3 versions of the test, and different score tables per test. They then have their own tables to kind of coordinate the scores with each other (like your reference table). You just take whatever test is offered at your location. In the end, they are very similar. Just contact the testing center and see what TOEFL test they offer.

TOEFEL is not the "best" everywhere. For example when you want to work in the european union the CEFR indicators are much more common.

for the UK it would be IELTS.

so the question should be if you want to work in a foreign country which type of test that country uses to messure your english proficiency.
