Fact: Traditional media companies make more money per broadcast (tv/radio/media sales) than Internet media.
This means a couple of million per lobby group per senator per country would barely scratch their pocket book. They can play this game with the world all effing day.

I like how the ESA claims that it is no longer supporting SOPA or PIPA after SOPA has already been pulled. xD Such a joke, hope people still boycott E3 and all that other crap. E3 has been dumb for years now anyway.
Also what is the internet going to do if all the SOPA crap is just thrown into that anti-child porn thing? Doesn't seem like there would be any possible way to stop such a bill, no matter what bullshit is inside.

You will never be able to stop that. I think you could have it contain concentration camps and gas chambers, as long as it says "Against child porn" on the cover, it will pass.
Does someone have good information on that Acta thing? It sounds like a very shady thing with no democratic legitimacy that apparently could still become law-ish, and that does not sound good at all in my opinion.

It is mostly already part of the european laws. Only a small part can be introduced to the laws. However the way it was negotiated is very shady: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Counterfeiting_Trade_Agreement
More specifically:
...Since ACTA is an international treaty, it is an example of policy laundering used to establish and implement legal changes. Policy laundering allows legal provisions to be pushed through via closed negotiations among private members of the executive bodies of the signatories. This method avoids use of public legislation and its judiciary oversight. Once ratified, companies belonging to non-members may be forced to follow the ACTA requirements since they will otherwise fall out of the safe harbor protections. Also, the use of trade incentives and the like to persuade other nations to adopt treaties is a standard approach in international relationships. Additional signatories would have to accept ACTA's terms without much scope for negotiation.
From 16–18 June 2010, a conference was held at the Washington College of Law, attended by "over 90 academics, practitioners and public interest organizations from six continents".[64] Their conclusions were published on 23 June 2010 on the American University Washington College of Law website. They found "that the terms of the publicly released draft of ACTA threaten numerous public interests, including every concern specifically disclaimed by negotiators." A group of 75+ law professors has signed a letter to President Obama demanding a host of changes to the agreement. The letter alleges that no meaningful transparency has been in evidence...

Sweden is going down, it's only a matter of time. I'm trying to escape to Norway, looking for work there atm, hopefully I'll get my hands on a norwegian citizenship or whatever you call it
It's a matter of stuff piling up, it's not just because of some stupid law I'm trying to gtfo.
You need 15 years of work experience and university level education just to flip hamburgers at McDonalds nowadays. Just a few weeks ago I started looking for work in Norway and I was shocked at what I saw, you guys are actually realistic about what you need to know to apply for a job.

Yeah, true that, forgot about it.
I kinda lost hope and stopped caring when those laws passed. I don't really keep track of the news any more, it's all bs anyway. My sister is pretty active in politic discussions and such and she told me Sweden is ranked like 20th in the world. In government corruption. No reliable source on that though, could be complete bs aswell.

It's this kind of crap that makes me feel like we may very well be living in a reincarnation of East Germany in 10-15 years.

All this shit is pissing me off. SOPA was stopped, but now we have PIPA, GOGA, IPRED, ICUP, FKINGURMOM, and EATPISS coming in. When will the government learn? If any of these bills pass, the country will become very, very dangerous. A) Anonymous will fuck the nation over if it passes B) Protests will go all over the country C) Brawls and riots will happen D) The truth about this country will be realized by ALL. The truth is that we are NOT in a free country, so now all the middle aged people who grew up believing its a free country will realize that its not. The thing that REALLY pissess me off is how innocent the media is making this sound. I tuned into 7News the other day to find them saying "The SOPA bill will prevent piracy and stealing, nothing more." Okay, what the fuck. The media is obviously a tangent, or a puppet, of the government. They make everything sound good so the government gets what they want. Fucking bullshit, I really hope America fixes our shit, because it pisses me off. And im not the only one pissed off by this either. There are MILLIONS of people who are clearly protesting these types of bills, but the government persists anyways.
Whatever, this country is going to rot in 20 years.

Norways politicians are stupid, but not as stupid as "certain other countries", but they do an ok job of running the country I guess. (Exept they won't fix the damn roads, goddamnit!)
And if you don't want to pay 5million kroner for a small apartment, you better not go to Oslo, that place is expensive as shit.

Haha, yeah, grass isn't always greener. Just looking for one of those typical jobs we sweds get over there, you know where we go and do the stuff no norwegian would dream of doing, gut fish for 12 hours a day for 3 months straight for example it's awesome pay for someone in my situation, but it's hard labour.
Still worth it.

I'm not finished with school yet, but I probably won't be for another couple of years either, civilengineer in Nanotechnology is my dream job, but DAMN, you need superb grades for that. Almost all 6 (1=lowest, 6=highest), and even if you get all 6, you still need extra study points to get into nanotech...
(or maybe technical cybernetics, that sounds pretty sweet as well )
Good luck though

It is a matter of time before some kind of internet censorship or internet privacy law gets passed .... Oh Well....
I laugh at people who still think this country is free and is not a police state oh well...

Whatever, this country is going to rot in 20 years. You realize how many people DON'T care about this stuff? A lot of people are perfectly content with their Twitter, Facebook, and Wikipedia. That IS the internet to them. They don't see the underworld where that stuff is propped up and constantly fed content. If the bottom is swept out from under them, they wouldn't even feel it immediately. At best, we could hope that the gradual decay of user-created/modified content would be noticed.
And about Anon. They are nothing. They can be equated to a loose gang that goes around spraypainting corporate and government buildings.

Man, ACTA sounds super shady and it looks like a international version of SOPA/PIPA.
