More people are logged into TL than are watching them... Idk I just feel that the popularity of the movement is grossly overexaggerated. Well... Given that it's anywhere from midnight to 3am in the US, and given that media outlets are banned from filming... I would find it hard to believe that there would be millions of people swarming to watch this.

The moderators seem to regard 40k as one of their peaks. EDIT: Also, could someone suggest a course of action for police to take to evict the OWS protesters WITHOUT "Violence"? Considering that the people basically refuse to leave, what kind of non-violent stimuli would make them leave?

I'm fairly sure that people probably don't tune into the livestream for the past two months or so that it's been on. I wouldn't use the livestream viewer count as a good proxy for the amount of attention they're getting. You're leaving out so many demographics.

The Civil Rights movement, the recent events in the Middle East? Peaceful movements can cause change. Albeit not as effectively as violent ones. It'll be interesting to see if the OWS people just end up coming back tomorrow after this raid is over. And the OWS movement is international news. It got a lot of attention. Probably more than the Tea Party Protests. It got very little American news attention but then again they're protesting the people who run all of our media...

The result seems clear to me: police clean up the park, people reoccupy tomorrow. The live stream is so low quality and the content is not even as much as twitter. Media black out hurts a lot bc that means only people with internet access could follow the story. Someone in the age of 45->65 with political/financial power prob not gona get their hand on these videos anytime soon :-/

EDIT: Also, could someone suggest a course of action for police to take to evict the OWS protesters WITHOUT "Violence"? Considering that the people basically refuse to leave, what kind of non-violent stimuli would make them leave? It depends on state, county, and city laws and ordinances. According to Federal law they have a right to peaceful assembly. Most, if not all, of the OWS protests have been using public property. The areas where there have been issues are parks or public areas that had curfews (Atlanta). In NYC I'm fairly certain there is no curfew for the park at Liberty Plaza which helps to explain why initially Bloomberg tried to use an excuse of, "public health issue." I'm not certain of New York City law so there might be an ordinance that says they can remove them if they stay in a public place for X amount of days. I really don't know. Basically, they may not even have a legal right to remove them from the camp. Regardless, they were peacefully assembled for a protest. Just like in Egypt or Iran in 08. It's just kind of ironic that the American government condemned those governments for trying to put down peaceful protests and is okay with handling the OWS movement in the way they have.

But one thing for sure is that they are tearing down the kitchen and there are 40 people trapped inside. EDIT - Definitely use of tear gas http://yfrog.com/163yiz Maybe not...there would be so much more panic
