He said that women are less motivated and that female brains are just less than male brains. Where did I misinterpret? He didn't say womens brains are just less than male brains, you have to be fucking trolling. Read what he wrote. You mean this? due to the male brain functions being more votaile, there are way more male geniuses than female AND there are more male retards than felame ones. And even IF there were only more male geniuses than female geniuses... What would be wrong with that statement if it was scientifically proofed? I also wouldnt care the other way around... But again this isnt even the case He said more male geniuses and also more male retards! Forgetting the fact that he said he didn't remember where he read it Forgetting the fact that he said that the source wasn't really validated or popular The fact of the matter is that the number of male retards has no bearing on his initial statement that there are more male genius than female geniuses because that's how the brain works. No, but that's how statistics work. If the average IQ of men and women are the same, and there are more male retards, therefore there are more male geniuses. ![[image loading]](http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/cell_phones.png)

@Blazinghand
I can't find the part in the article where the 'bitch' quote is directly attributed to day9 daily 100. The author talks about that daily (with great admiration), and the aforementioned quote is present, but there is nowhere in the OP article where "you young bitch" is attributed to day9 daily 100.
the banner at top is irrelevant at best >_>
EDIT: clarification

Probably not. The thing is it was one small bit in a much larger article. It was used to make a point that the gaming community has a tendency not to self correct stuff like this so it tends to perpetuate, not to say Day[9] is sexist (not that stops people thinking it is).
edit:
The point is, I like Day[9] and a lot of other gamers do too—and in addition to being an accomplished player and the host of the much-loved “Day[9] Daily,” Day[9] is at the head of a sort of “gamer pride” movement epitomized by his slogan “Be A Better Gamer.” His website, day9.tv, maintains an E-Sports “manifesto” that explains what is meant by gamer pride.

I've said it before that lot's of people are more interested in being right then welcoming and I wish it were the other way around. A lot of these issues could be resolved with a little more consideration for other and not fighting for every single 'right.' But such is the way of things. and @zimz. I'm sorry, but a lot of male behaviour cannot be excused as 'lulz it's biology.' Yes, there is biology. A guy can't help noticing an attractive girl, she just sort of stands out. But a guy certainly can control what he says, what he continues to think (natural reaction huh, she's attractive and move on vs an hour dwelling on sexual fantasies) and what he does. That is unless you're a biological determinist where everything you do is controlled by random synapses firing... in which case I don't know why you're 'debating' on a forum as free choice is an illusion. But it is a wonderful excuse to hide behind to justify a lot of rather despicable behaviours.
Biological determinism (in this case, more of a biological fatalism) is a significantly stronger claim than the claim that our actions are part of the natural order of causes and laws. I'm curious, do you honestly doubt the latter claim? That is, by saying that free choice is not an illusion do you mean to say that (at least some of) our actions do not have their basis in the laws of nature, but rather find their source entirely outside the natural realm? I hope I don't sound hostile; I'm merely intrigued.
Personally, I don't find that humanity's place in nature removes the possibility of moral evaluation, and it's clear that it wouldn't remove the possibility of debate.

Whatever fool wrote that article needs to write a retraction and apology to Mr. Sean Plott. Attaching any false negativity to Daily #100 is a crime imo.

Finding someone attractive and vocalizing it it some form or another is natural (That doesn't mean that EVERYONE does it). If you do it in a way that is intentionally meant to demean them that's another story.
Ex1: "That girl was really fucking hot, did you see her tits sticking out? I want to fuck her so bad" ^ NOT SEXIST. Ex2: "You see that female walking by? What a whore, I should totally take her in whatever fashion I want to because I can because I have superior strength and speed because I'm male." ^ VERY SEXIST.
If you find someone incredibly attractive and still think about it an hour later that is natural, just the same as if you have a bomb ass steak and an hour later you think back and go, "That was a really fucking good steak".

I'll quote the whole thing then:
"It's not 'gee-dot, gee-dot', it's 'GG' you young bitch!"
Try to forgive Day[9] for the above quote if you can find the generosity in your little heart—like most male gamers, he doesn't understand that gendered insults are wrong and off-putting to women. Since E-Sports is even more male-dominated than Magic: The Gathering, he's probably never been encouraged to censor himself in that way. That aside, every gamer with even one living fiber in their blackened, cynical hearts likes Day[9], including your dad. We can't get enough of that five o'clock shadowed, super-enthusiastic teddy bear.
Thanks to another depressed high-school suspendee (apparently there are a lot of us) named AJ Sacher, I recently rediscovered Day[9]'s seminal “My Life of StarCraft” webcast episode. AJ is currently off somewhere making sure that Ali Aintrazi takes no pleasure whatsoever in winning U.S. Nationals (in fact, he pops out of a pile of loose clothing and beats Ali with reeds whenever Ali smiles), but I should thank him for directing me to an uplifting viewing experience, one that really encapsulates the joy and jeopardy of being a competitive gamer.
Go ahead, click that link, and check it out! The first bold bit is the part about the quote, the second is the bit about the daily #100. In between is a bit where he says that no one but the most cynical of person doesn't like Day[9] and a bit about how a friend reintroduced him to Day[9]'s stuff. They aren't related

No it's mainly about how shallow the Gizmodo reporter was for posting the article about the Magic player and how there were a lot of really sexist and shallow responses by gamers who were right to be angered by it but dealt with it badly.
You might want to actually read the article before saying the author is full of shit.

I read through it twice, the first time I was just offended by how one sided the report was. The second time I wanted to punch the guy in the face for he was essentially leaving a, "Sorry all guys, or at least all male gamers are misogynistic" letter for his, "Maybe someday I'll have a daughter, daughter". Maybe I need to read it a third time, I guess.
Edit: I realize I basically said the same thing twice, but the point is I read through it twice and the second time only served to irritate me more.

What an irritating article. I stopped skimming after I read the Kasparov quote (I skimmed out of order), which the author presumably doesn't like. He needs to understand that there are differences between the sexes that have nothing to do with how one views or treats the other.

It really wasn't that at all. He definitely didn't say that all gamers are misogynistic, just that there are quite a few who are very vocal about it and about how it came out a lot with regards to the Gizmodo article which itself was really terrible.

Here's the thing. I've been gaming for a very long time, just like I know a lot of people around here have. I don't know your experiences, but in my experience the gaming community, even the competitive one is much less misogynistic than most other places. Completely overlook the overly vocal 15 year old virgin who just found out that pornography websites exist and harass every chick they hear because they think they are hot based solely off their voice. I'm talking about the general population. I think anyone who takes the stance that any gaming community (At least the ones I've been a part of) is more misogynistic than other areas of life is full of shit until they provide statistics.
That's just me though.

For the most part, EVERYONE knows how they should behave in ANY kind of social situation in order to not make people around them feel awkward or offended. The problem is that very few people actually want to be nice - because we've all been raised in an "I'm the most important person in the world and I can and should do and say whatever the fuck I want to and whatever makes me feel good" kind of culture.
It's a mentality that's been beaten into people and the way to beat it out of them would require a much wider approach than making an internet article about a very small slice of a greater problem.
This is probably going way off tangent. But yes, I think biological determinism/ fatalism is insufficient for explaining free choice and consciousness. Both of which if not true, the illusion of having both would be such a powerful illusion that one could not trust any of our senses in which we rely upon to 'know' the natural world.
So I do think there are biological processes in regards to attraction. Others have mentioned the symmetry and the hip to waist ratio etc. However, I also think that the conscious "I" is capable of controlling and overriding some of those natural processes. For instance, I cannot choose being attracted to random girl walking across the street, but I certainly can choose to continue walking, choose to comment, choose stop her, choose to accost her, choose to assault her. None of these are reactive. All of them require action by an agent capable of making a choice.
I don't find your question hostile. It's fair game as some of these questions basically come down to worldview.

You're wrong. I'm not going to do your research for you, so don't bother asking. (And no, this isn't just talking about the psychopaths who can't control themselves at all) I'm sorry, but when a guy sees an attractive girl he is biologically compelled to give a catcall or say 'I'd tap that' to his friends? That is, he has no choice and is course per-determined? Unless you subscribe to BF Skinner, than this is nonsense. Not to mention the very act of holding a debate makes no sense according to this view.
I feel you're conflating 'natural' as in societal norm, everyone does it and biological as in you are acting on instinct and have no choice in the matter. The fellow I was originally directing at kept popping in with: Can't help it. Biology. Read it.
As for your examples, I'm not going to evaluate whether they are sexist or not. But in both cases there was a choice to open your mouth. The natural part is remembering the girl an hour later. She was attractive, she'll stick in your mind. I'd argue that's natural and even biological.

Scroll up o.o; that's a fair point. correction : he didn't call his girlfriend a bitch in daily #100, the daily referenced in the article. He relays the same story, without bitching. The author did not reference a daily for the quote in the article and has stated that it was another daily in the 300s on his twitter. Sean relays that same story in a quite a few dailys and tbfair I havent seen most of his 300s, so I cant say that he didnt, but I have shown evidence that he has said that story and used the line "you young bitch", whos to say he did not say it again after that monobattle. People assumed it was day9 daily 100 were they had heard the story, other people thought it was daily 260 where he repeats the story. Ive given evidence that shows him retelling the story and using the words "you young bitch", the reason i do this is so people can move on and talk about the article at hand rather than 1 quote. What rest of the article? That you should be torn apart by rabid dogs if you use the word, "bitch" once even if you don't mean it to be sexist in the slightest (definitions change). That someone having a profession that consumes time is exactly the same as dressing up as a clown and throwing bottles at peoples heads? He's intentionally blowing shit out of proportion. The guy is full of shit, the end No it's mainly about how shallow the Gizmodo reporter was for posting the article about the Magic player and how there were a lot of really sexist and shallow responses by gamers who were right to be angered by it but dealt with it badly. You might want to actually read the article before saying the author is full of shit. I read through it twice, the first time I was just offended by how one sided the report was. The second time I wanted to punch the guy in the face for he was essentially leaving a, "Sorry all guys, or at least all male gamers are misogynistic" letter. Maybe I need to read it a third time, I guess.
I'd definitely agree that the misogynistic gamers are in the minority. The problem is that minority is very, very loud about their misogyny. I think the competitive gaming community is better than the general gaming community and the general population because the main population isn't the 'too young to know better' or 'old enough to have been brought up in a very sexist society'. However people don't tend to join the gaming community through the competitive scene, they tend to start with more casual games like CoD which has a much higher percentage of the 'too young' group.

The heart of the matter is really just about being nice (something that seems quite undervalued these days, partly thanks to the absolute trash that is western media for the most part).
Thanks for the clarification; I just wanted to make sure I was understanding you correctly. I want to agree with almost every sentence you write after the first paragraph while adding "I believe these phenomena are simply a part of the natural world and are controlled by the same patterns that control other natural objects, like planets."
But as you pointed out, this isn't exactly the right place. Just one more thing so I'm clear though. I think my view amounts to saying "a lot of things we've thought about free will and consciousness are wrong," not to saying "there is no such thing as free will or consciousness." I can't speak generally, but at least in me the radicalness of the conclusion has not been strong enough to induce extreme skeptical doubt about the external world in general.
