And the misquote is actually important because anyone looking at that can see that it is hypocritical humor. He's being disrespectful after the word "respect." That's the whole point of the joke. If he had quoted him accurately, it wouldn't look bad for Sean at all. Hm. Well, I suppose that is misquoted. Still, the author's intent was not to malign Day[9]; he does, immediately after listing that quote, more or less say what a great guy Sean is. I think the issue is the use of the gendered word 'bitch'. But yeah, I concede there is a misquote. I wouldn't call it "horrible"; I don't think the misquote alters the terms of the debate. I'm going to go take my temperature, I think I just admitted to being at fault... on the internet.

Noun: Bitch (bich): 1) A miserable person who sucks all joy and happiness out of life, and makes life a little less worth living by his/her consistently shitty attitude. When not complaining, his/her drama and gossip will fill the void. He or she (but usually she) refuses to do something with a group, and will forego hanging out with said group unless they're doing something she wants to do. She will put her interest ahead of others every single time, just for the sake of being a bitch. A bitch hates fun. "Hey guys, sorry we can't check out that cool new Brazilian restaurant, Janet is being a bitch." 2) A status you assume when you take one in the pooper while incarcerated. 3) What you become when you fail at pool, bowling, Quake, english, math, Street Fighter Alpha, etc. 4) Having a thankless job where you work lots of overtime without pay while your boss is on vacation. 5) Having to sit in the middle seat between two people in a car or plane. 6) Being last in line to get cake or ice cream at a party. 7) Crying and throwing a tantrum about something nobody gives a shit about, including you. "I'm not going to give you $6 for my share of an $11 pizza when all I owe you is $5.50. I shouldn't have to pay extra, waaaaaah!" 8) Having a high opinion of your looks and a sense of entitlement when people compliment you. Your ego is usually punctuated with a "hottie" shirt, which makes you slightly less tolerable to be around than children, and slightly more tolerable to be around than a saucer of goat jizz.

He doesn’t like gamers generalising women, then goes ahead and says: “like most male gamers, [Day9] doesn't understand that gendered insults are wrong and off-putting to women.”. Way to generalise an individual you don’t personally know AND a massive group of people in the same sentence. I kind of wish the OP didn't post this, because you're only helping spread bad journalism. There may be a genuine argument to be had, but only underneath all the crap the author injected into that article which needs to be removed before he can be taken seriously.

That aside, that article is still dumb.

There is a link in the Mod edit on the top of the page. Click on it, Watch it, and see Day9 say "you young bitch" clear as day. Please stop being so ignorant people......... As for the topic, I really don't think I'm sexist because I use the word bitch. I'm not actually disrespectful to women, words are wind and people take too much from them.

It's perfectly normal analyzing it from a psychoanalytic point of view, where we are all driven by our not-so-socially-acceptable desires of the id. Which straight man isn't attracted to beautiful young women? Companies who aren't afraid to utilize that seem to be getting the upper edge, if you look at ads from big names like Dolce&Gabbana and Guess. Point is, the public, as individuals, like it, albeit how sexist or derogatory it is to the female population. And sex will keep on selling as long as testosterone flows through the veins of men. About Day9's quote, I don't think it was meant to insult anyone at all. We all know that he's a perfectly respectful guy. : ) No need to overreact. It obviously does sell... to certain people (like yourself). Reading these comments on this page just makes me understand why some (or many) might have issues with women -_-
