The international of what? International league of sock knitting? Is there a world record to be beaten? Is there specific categories depending on what fabric you knit with? What about age categories? What's your favourite type of knitting needle?

I might see how the first sentence might seem as an assumption, but that's because I generalized here as this will be more rule than exception (what child will feel like they owe their parents something when their parents have been nothing but abusive? as a hyperbolic example). I said you're blessed not in the sense that you're blessed with a good upbringing per se, but with the sense of purpose because you've clearly conveyed that in your previous posts.

You're both looking at a "normal" family, but in reality I think the normal family is going to be found far less than you think.

A "normal" family is going to be found in approximately 68% of the time, if we make some mild assumptions, like that the normality of families follows a Gaussian distribution, and we call anything within 1 std deviation of the mean "normal". Of course, given that this is two-tailed, we could make some further assumptions that you are talking in particular about the chance of encountering a subnormal family and are less interested in those supernormal ones, so encountering a random family, there is effectively an 84% chance of that family being at least as good as "normal"

"Or" can mean "either that or that, but not both", as in "is it going to be cloudy or sunny tomorrow?". "Or" can also mean "one or the other or both" as in "do you have a black or blue pen i can borrow?". In mathematics, you only use the second version.

A friend of mine in school was quite nerdy at that point, and would only use the second version, as that was the correct mathematical version. A mother of a different friend offered breakfast and asked him "do you want these cereals or the these cereals?", clearly using the first version of "or". My friend, i hope, understood what she meant, but wanting to prove a point looked at her a while before answering "yes please".

No one appreciated that statement.

Assuming there is a large number of criteria for normality, each following a gaussian distribution, with the same weight in the total estimate and all criteria independant from one another, a normal family in the aggregate will still be abnormal on 32% of the criteria.

What percentage of the people you know who fill expired parking meters before the meter maids go by are people who genuinely care about their fellow motorist, and what percentage are twats who do that just to feel good about themselves and rub how 'good of a person they are' in other people's faces.

From a real life perspective--does it matter?

If someone gave money to Jewish Community centers each week until the day he died, does it matter if he hated Jews and was doing it as a cover? Does the people his money helped get less helped?

I was just wondering. Though arguably putting money in expired meters isn't a good action at all since it decreases parking spot turnovers thus harming local businesses.

I don't disagree that there's many ways to analyze the impact of an action--just saying that the intent of the action is often meaningless when discussing the results of it.

Fair enough. Understanding the underlying intent can be useful if you want to extrapolate from the results however.

I can agree to that, but I do think they need to be considered separate values.

If I bought food because I was hungry, my being hungry is a separate experience and variable than the food being bought.

Probably.

Q: In hindsight, should the US & allies *have* stopped advancing north after they captured Pyongyang during the Korean War?

Edit: Grammar.

I don't think it would have made a difference. Pyongyang was captured on October 19th and by that point China had already decided to enter the war.

I'm traveling to Central Islip, NY today and I was wondering: is taking the LIRR out of Woodside my best bet given that I'm flying into La Guardia?

There was an American streamer who casted Chinese dota 2 tournaments late at night during 2015. He was featured on Liquid Dota. He loves anime, especially One Piece. He has a beard. I can't remember his twitch info to save my life. Can someone link me to his twitch channel? Thanks.
