I have a dear friend who has a syrian parent and for the last few years has had to live with the fact that the country she used to visit regularly since childhood and absolutely loved has become hell on earth, the cities she knew don't exist any more and her relatives are either hiding in some basement or on the run, have lost everything they had or have already been murdered.

On my second 40 of Steel Reserve, and damn I miss my friend Alexus. She was one of the best friends I ever had. I mean, I remember leaning on her shoulder and hearing her heartbeat. I miss her. And she was such a nice girl. Not that she isn't a nice girl now, not that I would know. I might talk to her once a month now. She's genuinely one of the best human beings I've had the pleasure of knowing. I hope I can see her again. I harbored a crush on her at one point, but got over it. She was a good friend. Did I say that already? Damn I'm drunk.

This is like the the third night in a row I've gotten drunk. I've surprised I can type coherently. I think I'm becoming an alcoholic, like my parents, but at the moment I don't care. I can see why they became like that. I mean, why wouldn't you want to feel like this 24/7?

But damn, Alexus was one of the best friends I ever had. I used to hang out with her every day, back when we went to school together. And to think she was just this gangly-looking loner that my best friend got to know. But when I'm drunk, my heart aches for her company, for her simple innocence. I think that's what I miss the most: her innocence. Her southern drawl. Her physical absence pains me. She's great, the tops. I mean that it actually hurts when I think about her not being around me, and it's been about a year,

Find something new to do, or start doing something you used to do again (an old hobby or something). I replaced most of my Starcrafting with playing music and programming, and I feel I am many times more productive and a lot happier. I still play and watch a bit, but not on the level I used to. I almost think it was an addiction of sorts, the amount I played and watched.

I used to watch way too much SC2, to the point of it being detrimental to my life (I would watch it rather than do school work, for example). I got out of watching it when GOM switched over to exp and I can't say I miss it now that I am not used to watching it constantly. It almost feels freeing not to care about tournaments anymore. I still watch a bit, but never more than a match or two or maybe the odd GSL set of matches if I can't sleep.

I do think that if you are feeling this way about your life, a break from starcraft might be a good idea. It sounds like it is dominating your life in a negative way and is negatively affecting you. I would suggest that you stop watching for a bit, force yourself to do other things, and then slowly ease back into watching if you still want to at that point. This way you might be able to achieve a more healthy balance. It worked well for me. I can totally relate to how you are feeling though.

i needn't remind you that my biggest gripe by far was the injust moderation towards paleman, the closing of its related feedback thread and the nature of the recent modnote and moderation policy.

the moderation affecting me, albeit scandalous by default, hasn't been terrible in comparison. yes, i am a sinner and i ought to be punished severely on a regular basis, and the pilloring by the noble gentlemen in the ABL-thread is just, and just what i need.

if the poor are smitten down with sensible ban-reasons they will overcome, and injustice will shut its mouth as it's being shat into their mouthes.

i finally got around to registering a complaint about my moderation gripes with the head of the Liquid Politburo. i believe that my persistent, but tempered feedback will eventually lead to a number of heads rolling in, out of, or at least within the vincinity of the Liquid Ministry of Free Speech.

as an abstract jew, in sense that i have suffered several liquid pogroms, i am impressed at the stamina with which our shill, nyxisto, concealed his corrupted soul, and continually pointed his fingers towards hamas while being chased around on his argument unicycle by awhitegoy.

Fuck being stuck in a dead-end job and being jerked around with bureaucratic bullshit to get on a programming course. A course that I have the highest grades of any applicant going into it and I'm getting fucked around for finance on. Don't get any support financially which is ok I guess, but idiots who fuck up their entire lives and have no drive to do anything don't seem to have these issues.

On a less personal note, I hope some of these internet 'social justice warriors' would fuck off. There comes a point where you no longer care about issues that you are 'fighting' for, but fight because it is what you do and an ingrained part of your identity. I feel the continual bitching and crying of 'bigotry' or 'intolerance' on people who plainly don't deserve it is leading us into a more censorious and less enjoyable world.

The issue with the internet, well not 'issue' but an unfortunate byproduct is that you can pretty much find people that share your views, no matter how idiotic and reinforce idiocy amongst your little cabal until you are ready to unleash it upon the rest of the world.

Even noble 'movements' such as 'Fat Acceptance' morph from simple and reasonable starting points into attempts to completely redefine what idiocy looks like. Go from 'don't be dick to fat people' into 'it's not unhealthy to be massively obese and you're a pig if you think so.'

I must admit that when I was reading your post I was thinking to myself 'wtf is he talking about, the FA movement are fucking idiots, who think that everybody else is somehow guilty for them being fucking whales' and then I saw the 'don't be a dick to fat people' sentence. See, the things right now are so twisted, that one could forget that the purpose of that movement was something very reasonable a long time ago.

It greatly bothers me that the perception of eSports has reached the point where games like Dota2 suddenly don't count as casual games anymore. Might aswell talk about Hearthstone as a super hardcore game. There's so incredibly much propaganda-style circlejerk around, it's pretty scary. I've got nothing against any of these games and they can even be played as an eSport, but people really convince themselves that they're not casual is really sad. People in one breath call games like League casual and then again Dota2 hardcore. How did it come to these delusions?
