EDIT: Not backseat modding here, just saying what consequence I'd bestow upon him because of his attitude towards basic human rights. (Atleast in the EU, Article 6 rights to private life.

The kid was being a bit of a smart ass getting the prayer cancelled, I mean he's technically in the right here, the legality of the matter supports him but he may have bitten off more than he can chew and now I guess he's getting what he asked for. Something also should be done about whoever "leaked" his information and the teacher that publicly denounced him should probably loose their job as well as their license to teach, that's simply unprofessional and pathetic. It scares me to think that I live in the most religiously conservative part of Canada (Alberta) and that here this would never go down, something like this happening here would probably result in pretty quick direct government intervention but it's a different culture.

Here is a good article on the subject. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=46828 Anyways if people want to pray on their own time that's there own business but forcing your beliefs on everyone else no cool in my book. It shows a lake of empathy and respect for others.

And all of this couldve been avoided. but also at the same time if this was handled by the school well as it shouldve been, his request would have been considered (whether they decide to hold the prayer or not), things wouldnt have leaked and blown out of porportion and everything still could've been fine. I see more fault with the school, not the kid really.

If you wouldn't want to be subjected to a government-sponsored Buddhist prayer, you ought not to be subjecting others to a government-sponsored Christian prayer.

Come on, threatening to get a "traditional" prayer cancelled? It's unconstitutional, as is defending someone's right to pray of their own accord. Public schools shouldn't hold prayers for their student bodies. He's wasn't threatening that they couldn't pray at their graduation. This is a key difference between a free country and totalitarian one.

There is something called separation of church and state. I guess you believe in mob rule? Slavery never should have been abolished? Mobs should be allowed to do whatever they want?
