Well it's quite expensive. I buy my stuff online in germany. It's a lot cheaper. If you are in Paris, you can go near Montparnasse, there is another street with quite a few shops but they are chops for accoustic instrument. Hand made one (like l'arrivée stuff) but i don't think there is a l'arrivée shop. But you get the thing.

I don't know the name of the street though...

Oh and you should drop by the meltdown barcraft it's near opera.

And near "Gare de Lyon" you have the "paul bescher" shops which is quite huge for what i remember. But there's just one shop i think.

Anyone here teach?

I'm a pretty good player, but with a practice 'regime' so atypical as to be useless to convey to others, especially with money involved.

Something I'd like to do to supplement my meagre income, but very much an unknown quantity for me. Anybody here got some first-hand experience in this regard?

Don't forget songsterr.com, so far it seems to have the best tabs, and the fact that it plays them makes learning a lot easier. They also have a lot of tabs to teach. I've been learning this lydian shred technique that is pretty useful.

Forgot about that site. I remember bumping into it; yes it seemed good, especially since sometimes it is more of a waste of time to find a tab that feels wrong to your ears, then not finding it.

All i know about Lydian is that its a scale mode. Seems funky that scale. by funky i mean different from anything i know but interesting, i can see its use somewhere.

If any other person has some advice on good websites, even for theory or piano, recorder, acoustic percussions, or any other instrument etc. please tell me. I am always looking to expand my horizons; i am planning on setting up a website and having a whole page dedicated to external links of this kind.

Go straight to the top and get your dream guitar. I bought my USA Fender Strat with an ash body in Sienna Sunburst that I had always wanted a couple years back and have had no desire to buy any other electric guitar since.

However, since there are different variants of GAS I am still suffering from other versions, like bass GAS. Now I am looking for a new bass to supplement my Precision bass. I love my P-Bass but I want something completely different. I've been looking at fretless models and 5-6 string basses. Mostly higher end Ibanez Soundgears and Yamahas or perhaps a cheaper Warwick (I'm saving up around $1000-1200 for a new bass). If I can find a used USA Fender Jazz or P I will get one of those also, especially a fiver.

Also, polish your frets if they get gross. It makes a huge difference in looks and playability! Look at the left two frets compared to the right two. That was like 20 seconds of work using 0000 steel wool. Having well-polished frets makes bends so much easier.

I swear if I could be a guitar tech full time I would be.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have absolutely no clue (and no tools) when it comes to guitar tech stuff. Anywhere where I can learn how to do things like that? Pickup swaps, adjusting stuff etc. I feel like I've been playing a while but never bothered to learn any of this stuff.

Decided a new computer could wait a couple of months or years and got myself a Mexican Fender and a used Blackstar HT5 stack. Never have I anticipated the arrival of the postman so eagerly.

I'm especially intrigued to hear how your Blackstar treats you.

I currently have in my possession a Marshall JCM 2000 (DSL I think) that my friend left with me when away to uni. Alas he's appalling at maintaining his gear so I can't use the reverb channels without paying for rewiring.

As prep for my eventual live efforts I am thinking of building a pretty simple pedalboard, I would generally play from the harder rock/metal end of things.

Looking a good reverb pedal and a tubescreamer ATM.

My original thinking of programming a few patches on my friends multieffects unit wasn't really successful, drained the hell out of the base tones I'd gotten

How do you like that JCM? That's one of the amps I was looking at a few months ago when I was in the market for one. I liked it, and it was definitely great for the price. Wasn't quite as raw as I was looking for though.

I've really been digging the EVH 5150iii. The little 50 watt one just blows me away. It just moves so much air, and it feels like its punching you in the face when you mute the strings. I wish I didn't plan a trip to Japan earlier this year, because I want to spend more money!

I'm thinking of getting into playing guitar a lot more now, and I have a really basic starter squier electric guitar that I used for a beginner's guitar, what is a good "step up" guitar that I could get that isn't too expensive, acoustic or electric? Also, is there any tips/methods for learning bar chords faster? I feel that I'm not playing them correctly or how they're supposed to sound.
