I got GAS so bad right now, this is basically my dream guitar, at least $600 AUD off what I'd normally have to pay..

yayyy someone else plays a 7!

I've got a couple of Ibbies currently - a RG7620 (painted all bright red!!) and a USA custom RG which unfortunately has been painted over but that's ok because it plays like a 90s MIJ RG anyways (has BKP coldsweats).

Also, that LTD pic above, Nice cockstock!

Nice man, what pups are you going to chuck in that 7620?

How are you finding the neck profile as well? I'm thinking of picking up a similar model (the RG 7421 WH) and fitting it with the new BKP juggernauts. Aaaaand I really want to get that RGD I linked and fit it with a liquifire/crunchlab set.

And get an Axe FX.

And suddenly discover I am the heir of a small fortune soon in order to pay for it all.

Ah well, still love my USA Strat the most.

I know how you feel. I owned a charvel custom model 3 from the 80s that I bought off a guitar teacher when I was in middle school. It was stolen at a show and I was heartbroken for weeks. I've been searching for another one since. I found a model 5 one on craigslist thats in almost perfect condition with the frets replaced with stainless steel ones, locking tuners and bkp aftermath pups. It's priced at $650 and I haven't decided if I should take the plunge. It's a little on the pricey side but it has all the mods you could ever want.

I've found a model 6 thats in flawless condition thats all pink... man if it was reasonably priced (lol $800), I would totally pick it up in a second.

Those bareknuckles are worth at least $250 alone, good locking tuners ~$40, and a full fret re-dress/change/file would make that thing play beautifully as long as it was done correctly.

Far from a bad deal.

The RG7620 has EMG707s in them (bought the guitar used and they came with them). Neck profile is your typical MIJ VERY flat neck. Definitely feels noticablly thicker than my ibby 6er tho. I think the RG7421WH (i guess that's the new one?) is made in indo and has a Wizard II-7 neck so it may feel a bit rounder and/or thicker. If you can find a used MIJ RG7420/21 or RG7620/21, that's about as good as you can get for cheap.

I myself use a PODx3 for now. Will probably get an axe fx when I start makin some doe (as well as a bunch of other guitars)

You won't be upset with the dimarzio combo you've chosen. In my Carvin dc-727 I have an evo (very similar to the crunch lab from what I've read) in the bridge and a liquidfire in the neck. The variety of tones I get out of it is crazy.

I don't have any experience with bkp's which is mostly why I'm on the fence about the model 5. I don't know that their quality is worth their price, but for all I know it really is. I'm playing through a mesa triple rectifier, so basically anything will sound fantastic as long as the volume is cranked up.

As for the axe fx, I'd really like to hear some of the other sounds it can make other than Misha Mansoor's tone. I love the music a lot of the people using the axe fx make, such as intervals and polyphia. It sounds like their music could be on the same album because the tones are so similar. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I love the tone, but just some variety and uniqueness would be cool. Have you guys looked into the kemper much? I was skeptical of its modeling power until I saw august burns red live using them, and holy crap, those things fucking rock. They too are incredibly expensive, but if I had extra cash lying around....

For 7strings lover, look at AGILE they do awesome 7strings. It's mostly Metal oriented (like they are in low tuning with "factory settings".

The LTD head shape does look like Mayones (btw they do 7strings that are good too).

For the Schon guitar can i contact l'arrivée about this ?

Mayones are soooooo expensive tho. Also I do hear good things about Agile too. New, they are worth the price but in the used market, the older MIJ Ibbies still dominate there. Still, Agile was one of the only brands that offered 27" scale (production model) until recently I think, and there's a lot of choice on what you want (ie. fanned frets 8 stringers)

Well you can listen to an amateur band called "Goreghone" you will have a taste of AGILE with low tunning, almost no effect but distortion and he plays with a laboga mister hector on the recording (if there are really recent one he plays now with orange mini terror).

It's a friend of mine band, but you will hear the sound quite natural because it's an amateur band so there is not a lot of effect and studio making by a pro. It's recorded in his room (but quite good quality).

They had another guitarist before who played with an 8string mayones... But i prefer the sound of the AGILE. Also it's quite cheap for what i remember.

Agile's are very cool guitars. They did a sale about a month back on their 8 strings for $299. I came a day late and missed out. Here's what the other guitarist in my band's agile sounds like:

https://soundcloud.com/erathma/agile-2

The distortion is through either guitar rig or a line 6 pod, I don't remember which one. I like the agiles because they're cheap and they have that 27" scale. I'll probably end up buying one of their 8 strings when I have the money (after I satisfy my 6-string need). I've read that Carvin is trying to make a 27" scale for their 7s now, which is exciting. I definitely love my Carvin, and it would be pretty beastly with a 27" scale.

which loop pedal do I get?
I've never had a pedal before, but I've had extensive experience with computer music so I know a little jargon.

I recommend you get a usb interface. I have a Line 6 UX1 and it works really really well; basically it comes with a software that emulates effects and amps, and they actually sound really really nice. You can expand your tone library by buying plug-ins online too.

There's ports going out to so whenever im recording stuff on my pc i'll just plug my guitar in, choose my amp/effect chain on the pc, then send a jack to my amp to hear myself and just record with Audacity. It's a really cheap setup, but it sounds great.

So i finally got a tascam US-122 mk II interface. Its really good, i've been having loads of fun with it, using some drum software and guitar rig.
I made some instrumental (cos i can't sing for toffee) desert rock music this afternoon:

complete with horribly out of time bass playing. I haven't played bass in about ten years

This thread got me nostalgic so I threw up some videos from one of my old bands in '06 for kicks. :D

Sound quality isn't great, but not bad for a camcorder.

The prices of those 80s/very early 90s import Charvels have absolutely skyrocketed. Back in the day you could get a good condition Model 3 for like $300 off Ebay and a Model 6 for $500 at the most. Now you're lucky to find an intact one at $700, and mint ones including the chainsaw case go for way more. Model 6s have like doubled in price as have Model 5s, and the prices only seem to be getting higher.

I would buy that Model 5 in a heartbeat if it played well. If you can try it you should. If the fret job and other modifications are professionally done it should be a great guitar. If some amateur did them, stay far away. Stainless steel frets are notorious for being tough to work with so if the job was crappily done and the frets aren't level, it could cost a fair amount to get a good repair person to fix them and level them properly. For the Model 6, if you can talk the price down a bit that could be a great deal.

My Soloist XL is the Jackson equivalent of the Model 5 (but with passive pickups) and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I adore it. I imagine that Charvel equivalent is just as good. No modern import from any company can beat those late 80s/early 90s import Jackson/Charvels. They're in another league compared to everything else. I mean, they had to discontinue the Pro models (one level above my XL. Only difference was active pickups and ebony fretboard) because they were so good they were eating into the sales of the USA models.

Thanks a bunch. I've been asking around on different forums and people I know if they think I should go for it or not. I have noticed that the prices have gone up quite a bit. My uncle who is a charvel/jackson enthusiast told me that I shouldn't pay over $350.... but market dictates. I emailed the guy and I want to check it out, because if that fretwork is nice, I'm gonna buy it. I wish I could buy the pink one... so I'll keep watching it and see if the price drops.

I also saw some awesome f-1000 kramer's going for $200-$300 on ebay, with one being the hottest pink you've ever seen. There's just something about the '80s shred guitars with pointy headstocks that I love. I keep my eyes on the prices of carvin's as well, and of course they start rising as I become interested in buying.

You can find them used for pretty cheap. When I was in high school my mom bought me one because she found it for like $125 (don't ask me how). I then in turn sold it because I didn't like it for $230, which was still a deal.

Start mexican is like 500€ (so ? 600$). If it's two month of rent... i want you rent !
Friend of mine have one. It's really good (if you are into strat sound of course).
You could find a used one for something like 250€ (300$ish ?)

You sure you're not talking about a US one ? Cause mexican aren't that pricey

But true that even if mex are great the difference with the US version is really huge. Got a friend with a left handed deluxe start US... well... even with the same amp you can see the diff with the mex when they play together (also... the "deluxe guy" is really better than the other)

How would I find a used one for 300E? The ones on eBay sell for 500 used (620 new)...

My rent is so cheap because the uni covers most of it, usually it's about 15-20E per m2 where I live.
