Kurdish fighters say they have taken over five key villages from Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) fighters. These villages, located in an area known as Gweir and Makhmour, 28 miles to the south of Erbil, have been changing hands for months.

Iraq's army, backed by Shia and Kurdish fighters and U.S.-led air strikes that started in August, have made some gains against ISIL, pushing back its advance into Kurdish territory. The army last week recaptured towns in Diyala province, on the road from Baghdad to Iran.

At least 50 fighters of the ISIL have also been killed in the past 24 hours in Syria's Kobane, Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the biggest loss endured by the group since it launched its assault on the strategic border city on Sept. 16.

Turkey is being confronted with a diplomatic crisis similar to the recent one with Denmark over the alleged handover of a Danish citizen to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), as the UK now accuses Turkey of handing over two of its citizens to the terrorist organization in a swap.

Iran has denied it conducted air strikes against ISIL targets in eastern Iraq, after Al Jazeera ran footage of what appeared to be an F-4 fighter jet, similar to those used by the Iranian air force.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an Iranian official told Reuters news agency on Wednesday that "Iran has never been involved in any air strikes against the Daesh targets in Iraq."

The official was using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the armed group which controls large expanses in Iraq and Syria.

"Any cooperation in such strikes with America is also out of question for Iran," the official said.

I saw some news about SAS being an absolute terror to IS. I'm not surprised and I totally understand the SAS guy commentating that they can't even defend themselves and there is absolutely nothing they can do to stop it.
