I can't recall if it was posted yet, but I read in german media today that due to South Korean sources, they found two bodies of civilians. So it's no longer "just" killing soldiers if this gets confirmed.

Even if China decided to launch an invasion, things would get very dangerous for everybody.
I think the sanctions should be slowly reversed and the world should do their best to bring North Korea back into the fold, economically speaking. Slap the golden straight jacket on them and pump their coffers full of American dollars until they stop looking back, just like we did in China.
Unless the world community all of a sudden decides that the most optimal option is worth dying for, we ought to do the best with what we've got over there.

It's been confirmed . And i'm afraid there will be more casualties.

I've also read many citizens of Yeongpyeung are leaving for the mainland. And US will nevertheless hold their planned maneuver with the South Koreans from November 28th, which is the only right decision in my oppinion.

Here's how an NK/SK war would go down in my eyes.
NK agresses and marches it's numerically superior army across the border. Within days the Americans are involved, at least the forces already in the area. The Americans/SK siezes massive air control within the next 72 hours. The next 3 months are spent pounding the shit out of North Korea, any nuclear/biological/chemical action by North Korea is met with a nuke on Pyong-Yang.
AKA. Operation Desert Strom Part: 2
Big Questions: Does China get involved? They've had business with Nk in the past, but with China's boom in economical develvopment, I think they'd do business with just about anybody.
Does Japan get involved? Nk has threatened Japan with Nukes before, shooting a rocket over Japan just to see if they could. But Japan has shown a reluctance to go to war, buying their way out of the "Colition of the Willing".
Certainities: The time span between NK's agressions is getting smaller, as NK gets more agressive.
Kim Jong Ill is at teh end of his reign, will his son be as bat-shit insane?
The war would results in a massive ammount of uneccesary casualities on all sides. Mostly NK, but we can't fault all of them just because their leader's insane.

Doesn't seem like the right place for the future leader of NK to get educated, does it?
thats only thing i've found about this, i was curious myself.

This guy is right, Google Translator says this is the quote;
"Kim Tae defense, "the actual situation is not the StarCraft game"

Well, Kim Jong Un is the 3rd son, and he went to Switzerland probably before he was even considered to be the next leader, so maybe Kim Jong Il just said "whatever, he's only a 3rd kid, I have to worry about the 1st"

Small thing, but you really can't get across the border/s. Its full of mines.
The only way would be trough water or air, as far as i know. And of course tunnels, if NK still has some. But interesting points. Really can't know how it would go.
So in my eyes, Nk wouldn't march anywhere when the war starts, they would fight on their own soil.

Yea I think they would just bunker up into a hole and hit the oh shit button and level soeul and send various missiles and nukes and chemical weapons around the world and hope to gain some sort of negotiation leverage.

I recently watched a documentary on North Korea, so by no means am I an expert, but it is my understanding that North Korea routinely digs secret tunnels that lead under the mined DMZ into South Korea. Supposedly, some of the entrances (in North Korea) have been discovered by satellite, and some exits have been found in South Korea.
All in all, I still think this whole situation is a little scary, seeing as how North Korean ideology is itself quite scary, and their behaviors don't appear to follow any kind of logic.
So, I hope the situation doesn't progress any further; more aggression is not going to end well for anyone involved.

I agree. I heard a joke about North Korea few years ago. Guess what weapon North Korea fears the most? It's not nuke......Bunker Buster Bomb

You are right. There has been tunnels all around to South Korea, some has been found but there are still rumors that they have lots of more. Maybe the biggest and (maybe stupidest) rumor of all is a tunnel all the way to Seoul..
Some links and quotes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Demilitarized_Zone
+ Show Spoiler +Fourth tunnel Entrance to the 4th Infiltration Tunnel, Korean DMZ A fourth tunnel was discovered on March 3, 1990 north of Haen town in the former Punchbowl battlefield. The tunnel's dimensions are 2m x 2m and it is 145m underground, the method of construction is almost identical in structure to the second and the third tunnels.
Third tunnel Main article: Third Tunnel of Aggression The third tunnel was discovered on October 17, 1978. Unlike the previous two, the third tunnel was discovered following a tip from a North Korean defector. This tunnel is about 1,600 m (1,700 yd) long and about 150 m (490 ft) below ground. Foreign visitors touring the South Korean DMZ may view inside this tunnel using a sloped access shaft. Second tunnel The second tunnel was discovered on March 19, 1975. It is of similar length to the first tunnel. It is located between 50 and 160 m (160 and 520 ft) below ground, but is larger than the first, approximately 2 by 2 m (7 by 7 feet). First tunnel The first of the tunnels was discovered by a South Korean Army patrol, noticing steam rising from the ground. The initial discovery was met with machine gun fire from North Korean soldiers. Five days later, during a subsequent exploration of this tunnel, U.S. Navy Commander Robert M. Ballinger and ROK Marine Corps Major Kim Hah Chul were killed in the tunnel by a North Korean explosive device. The blast also wounded five Americans and one South Korean from the United Nations Command. The tunnel, which was about 1.2 m (4 ft) high by 0.9 m (3 ft) wide, extended more than 1,000 m (1,100 yd) beyond the MDL into South Korea. The tunnel was reinforced with concrete slabs and had electric power and lighting. There were weapons storage and sleeping areas. A narrow gauge railway with carts had also been installed. Estimates based on the tunnel's size, suggest it would have allowed approximately 2,000 KPA soldiers (one regiment) to pass through it per hour .

If you take a look at the map of Bulgaria, you won't need much brain-power to see that this is impossible. according to: http://www.mysinchew.com/node/48422 (linked on wiki so lets take it with a grain of salt if its true or not)
South Korea stages a artillery exercises near the North Korean coast. North Korea retaliates with their own artillery fire (still they attack the wrong island)
Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelling_of_Yeonpyeong
So SK fires at NK and NK retaliates... Sounds reasonable especially since SK deputy minister of defense acknowledged that there was a test fire of artillery units in that region towards the NK border.
