Lol can you at least explain why? I doubt the headphones would get so famous if it wasn't for them being amazing.

I'd compare a 300$ pair of beats to a 100$ headphone from senn/akg/audiotechnica/etc.

The skullcandies are designed cheaply and sound fairly crappy for what you pay. Plus, I find them personally to be absolutely hideous. Beats, on the other hand, are overpriced by a lot. Their bass is overstated and they really can only pull off one genre of music well, hip-hop and rap. Most of what you pay are for the namesake and the monster brand. They would be great at 100, but are triple that.

Monster has several good products, and Skullcandy is in the process of attempting to start to make good products.

I live in Belgium and the amazon voucher I got was for the french amazon store...which only sells Grado products through external resellers...which do not ship to Belgium. I'm "stuck" with Amazon-shipped items, still a decent range of products but no Grado ![]() The ATH-AD700 and AKG are a bit above my budget, Beyer is even higher ![]() Gotta ask something though : I'm tech ignorant but my pc is also connected to a Kenwood amplifier (and some Bose loudspeakers)...if I connect the headphone through the amplifier instead of going through the pc, would that change the "low-end" source issue (I know nothing about these things)? And if so, would you suggest other models (10-20% cheaper would be nice and closer to my budget) Thanks for the help. The DT770 is obviously more than you can afford not to mention they are closed headphones. For gaming and the most of the genres you listen to, you will likely want open backed headphones. HD555 of AD700 is the way to go IMO.

Skullcandies arent famous because they are amazing. They are famous because 95% of people out there dont know the difference between Skullcandy and Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, Beyer, Grado, Shure, Ultrasone etc.. Skullcandy is famous because it is cheap and looks flashy to 95% of consumers. They dont cost that much so you dont have much to lose any way.

![]() At first glance it seemed like a really good deal. It feels very sturdy and looks high quality. The first pair I got I heard some sharp buzzing sound in the right earbud whenever there was a tune with bass playing. I went back to the store and exchanged them to a new pair of 205's. Now I have this sharp buzzing sound in the left earbud even louder when I'm listening to some tune with lots of bass... What worse is that I had to travel back to my hometown 300km away from the store where I could refund it. I'm really disappointed. When I'm going back I'm going to get either HD 438's or 202's.

![]() I actually like this headset, got it for like 30$ at best buy one day cause i needed a mic, and the mic quality is pretty good. however the sound quality is mediocre, and it really isn't all that comfortable. so I'm looking to buy a new headphone/set/IEM I've been looking at headsets a lot and I've been wondering whether i should get a good IEM and on-desk microphone, a headphone and a on-desk microphone, or just a headset.

The Headroom Total Bithead seems like a good entry level choice, but I figure I'll ask around: any other good amps around that price-range (sub $200)? That's a great choice. Also check out the FiiO e7/e9 combo. E9 is a desktop amp. E7 is a portable DAC + amp that can plug in to the E9 (much like an ipod dock) which acts solely as a DAC when used with the E9 or as a DAC+AMP when used by itself. Pretty useful if you want something thats great for both home use and on the go. It's a little bit over 200 if you want both though, $129 for the E9, $89 for the E7 (i think). The Total Bithead is pretty much a classic though, nothin wrong with choosing that.

Do note you don't hear yourself talk if you go IEM + mic route. Same with the more isolating headphones. I like the open headphone + mic setup myself. But I used the zalman mic to clip onto the cable. (BTW, Yes I'm back to my thread after a lengthy and undeserved ban!)

I have 180 CAD (flexible up to 210) to spend on a pair of cans. Basically I am interested in the Sennheiser 448s or 515s (I prefer closed back), and possibly the SHURE 440/750DJ/840. Which ones are the best (also have balanced sound)? Also, any other strong phones in the range?

Also what are good songs with a lot of deep bass, similar to A Milli by lilwayne Skullcandy and Lil Wayne.. That is some sophisticated stuff you've got there. Anyway, these are my headphones. I think they use these in the GSL qualifiers and they're also used in the music video for that Basshunter dota song ![]() ![]()

I have heard many good things about the RE0, how does it compare in sound quality to the top tier IEMs? Because if the top tier ones aren't much of an upgrade, I might just get the RE0 and save the extra money instead.
