If you havent been to the gym in a while or dont go alot, try lifting less weight, more times. For curls, start with like 15 lbs, do 20+ reps, then maybe go up to 20 lbs, but try to do always more than 12 reps, strive for 15. If you do this when you first start going or when you havent been in a while, you will gain a ton of strength really fast. Allowing you to comfortably push yourself for bigger numbers.'
Do exercises you don't really "feel" extremely slowly. For me this includes lats, pectoral flies, certain back exercises. Doing them slowly can sometimes make you actually push through a part of the motion you had previously just been riding momentum through.
Certain cable exercises are incredible. Using cables in certain ways can help you isolate really specific parts of muscles. Try locking your elbow at 90degrees to your side, with a horizontal cable in hand, then, rotate your arm around your elbow towards your back.
When playing starcraft, walking, or just living in general, try to breathe such that you feel a real strength in your chest. I fill mine up so it feels like a table when Im playing. It becomes my center of gravity and stabilizes my whole body.

Either the roommate will be a great friend or you will make great friends so you can spend the night on their futon to avoid your roommate.
This is amazingly true, +1 forever. I had pretty terrible roommates my first year, so I was incentivized to stay out more and make more friends freshman year. Every time I was thinking "Do I really want to go to some buddy's dorm up on The Hill at 1AM?" on a Friday night my brain responded "Do you really want to back to your 2 crazy roommates?" Decision made! Made amazing friends and had wonderful experiences as a result.
And as it turned out, I eventually became close friends with 1 of the 2 (the other is crazy) and now, 4 years later, we spent a decent amount of the summer hanging out together in NYC while both working here; we even grilled for one another at back-to-back weekend BBQs and I'd consider him a friend for life.
TL; DR: Live in the dorms, even if your roommates are terrible, it's win-win.

1.) In college, do your homework as soon as it's assigned. Two reasons: First, it won't hang over you. Second, if you need help, you can go to the Prof's first set of office hours (always empty) as opposed to the second.
2.) When cleaning blood out of clothing, use cold water. It washes blood right out. Hot water sets the stain.
3.) If you're in a job you don't like, always be looking for another job. You owe the company you are working for nothing except for your best work - don't stay at a shitty job out of a misguided sense of loyalty.

Sleep with your window open, if you have a problem with heat (big computer torrenting all night with bad airflow). If sleep in a room with fresh air, you'll sleep more comfortable thus making your next day more easy to pull through, since you've had a better sleep.
A good sleep does the trick for so many things. Better concentration at university, better work out, when you're properly rested - and generally better performance at life.
So my life trick is sleep good!

This is suboptimal/wrong, you want to aim for weights that allow you to do 5-8 reps per set.

If you ever want 44oz. of soft drink goodness and like to save some $$ as well as the environment, just keep your last cup. Gas stations usually charge you half the price for a refill no matter where it's from.
just a simple little way to save a little cash.
oh and my favorite universal life trick:
Just chill and keep things mellow. No good ever comes from stress.

If you want food to taste better: - stop smoking - If you stop eating really sugar heavy food, your pallet will improve. Like especially cereal (most cereals have added a lot of sugar, when the cereal actually is quite sweet) You will really notice the natural sweetness in quite boring cereal like rolled oats & milk, and it will really improve your health.

At points it will build up to the point of preventing some of my hearing, so i used to grab a Q tip and clean em out real good. Apparently when you do this you remove SOME of the wax, but knock back a nearly equal amount FURTHER back into the ear canal. One year we went to the beach and, the night after a long swim i noticed some pain in one of my ears. by the next day i was in some REALLY horrendous pain in both ears due to something called Swimmers Ear which is a type of ear infection. the fact that i had used Q tips recently made it a LOT worse.
Let me tell you fellow TLer...... YOU .... do NOT... Want to get swimmers ear. You are literally bedridden from the pain and general grogginess / dizzyness / horrendousness which it occurs. all you want to do the whole time is repeatedly flush your ears with wax removal fluid. you become a slave to this process and it can last for 2 weeks. HORRIBLE.
If your wax builds up to the point of near deafness, the amount that can be removed with a fingernail should be enough to clear it. The human ear has its own means of naturally removing wax (it takes a long time but it all eventually gets pushed out... naturally... i promise...)
There are solutions you can buy which remove the wax more safely. i guess you really shouldnt use your nail if you can avoid it lol ^ ^
Aaaand just to contribute my life cheat is... Adderall. might be a repost but this is not difficult to get a prescription for, and it makes any long, arduous task go by much smoother and easier. keeps you focused and moving forward. great for SC2 practice sessions (if you know how it affects you)
Don't ram q-tips or fingernails into your ears. If you have a problem with wax, consider putting a drop of olive oil into your ear before you go to bed and just lie on your side for a while. Ear wax is lipid soluble, so the olive oil should dissolve it. Much safer than poking your ears with foreign objects.

Just chill and keep things mellow. No good ever comes from stress. Ahem, have you seen Losira under pressure? Pretty sure pressure is very similar to stress, and i'm pretty sure 9000+ apm don't come from being calm, does it?
(Not less your Korean! lol)

It's only suboptimal to do more than 5-8 reps if you're body is perfectly anabolic and you have meticulous form and ideal nutrition. And to be at that point you need to work out and eat correctly for a long time. Also, your nervous system responds positively to changes in workout routines.

I might have posted this before ... but if you are a college student who uses coin laundries for washing and drying your clothes ... before you do anything, set your clothes aside and put your coins in and activate the machine to make sure it's working ok (for ex close the lid for a sec to see if the water is running into the washer) BEFORE you put your clothes and detergent in and then pay, only to have the machine eat your money or just not work. That way you don't have to move detergent filled dirty clothes to another washer.

Leaving toothpaste tubes open after brushing teeth.
When brushing my teeth, I'm either half awake and easily irritated in the morning, or I'm on the verge of falling asleep and just as easily irritated. Leaving toothpaste open saves the frustration of (un)screwing and random stuff like potentially losing the cover and having to search for it. And it saves a bit of time.

You can shit and jerk off at the same time and its alright.
But if you manage to blow your load just as you push out that monster log, its amazing

Doesn't happen with mine. I've been doing this for some weeks now, admiring my increased efficiency every time I brush my teeth and leisurely enjoying the ~10 seconds I save each day, and my toothpaste has yet to show any signs of drying up.

This thread is so full of awesome. I'm surprised how many people didn't know F2 was rename a file. I'm not even sure when I learned that it's been so long.

To add: When you are renaming a file (after pressing f2), press tab to switch to the next file. Ez batch rename :-)
