It was ok with lost for the first few seasons because 1.) I didn't immediately know they were making it up as they went along 2.) The acting/drama was really good and 3.) They didn't go crazy on flashbacks. but as it got into the later seasons all 3 of those points were broken and so i stopped watching but regardless i guess it could be good. hopefully they don't do flashback bullshit though. i mean every now and then is ok but DONT CONSTANTLY GO BACK AND FORTH IN TIME

The trailer look really cool but will it really be cool when the episodes and first season ends... Idk but it kinda gave me that "24"ish feeling... and look like it's going to be where a question is answered but gives several more questions confusing the heck out of the viewer if you don't start from the very beginning. So if I come in one day and did not see the last 5 ep, I'll be like "WTF" and lose my interest immediately....

A commercial for it just came on, and it had the most vague line of dialogue ever. He's going to tell them about the event. Mmm, pronoun, pronoun, and what might as well be a pronoun! This is superb writing... for a commercial designed to hook people into doing something. For a show, this is crap.

It's either aliens or some 2012 exploitation thing. Definetely (obviously) are trying to cash in on the success of "Lost" and present a similar, OMGWTF type of mess. Lost worked (for me at least) because they made me interested in the characters...the mystery and mythology of Lost was just an extra...although I understand that not everyone here agrees with my thoughts on Lost. But The Event was just a pile of masturbation without ejaculation last night. Oooh, "The Event" is coming. Ooooooh. And beyond that, even including the last 5 minutes, nothing fucking happened. Shit, even when something happened nothing happened. If I wanted to have my dick rubbed all night and never get to blow my wad, I'd go hang with your mom, not watch shitty tv. Two flaccid penises down for this pile of trash.

+ Show Spoiler + Basically, somebody is trying to assassinate the president (who is black, waddauknow) by blackmailing the captain into crashing a plane into the Miami party the president is attending. Think about that for a moment. All the while there are not one but two, separate heroes with special knowledge of plot who just fail to stop it, with flashbacks of the past randomly mixed in. "You have to stop the plane. Listen to me!" to [flashback to standing on a beach with girlfriend] I just, uh ..want to freeze this moment in time to [flashforward to plane is about to crash] "Noooooo! " It ends with a woman stopping the plane at the last second by creating some magical vortex that swallows the plane as it is about to crash, presumably saving everyone. Expect that 11.2 million viewers to fall quickly. God I miss Jack Bauer.

My theory on THE EVƎNT. In mathematics and predicate logic "∃" is the predication of a property or relation to at least one member of the domain (the President or the Earth?). "∃" (pronounced " "there exists" or "for some") called the existential quantifier. Existential quantification is distinct from universal quantification ("for all"), which asserts that the property or relation holds for any members of the domain. Suppose the "domain" is Earth, "E". 1 planet in 1 galaxy out of an infinite number of galaxies. Suppose the Earth is in imminent danger of annihilation by a planetary asteroid or by other means. Remember? That woman said "They saved us!" I suspect that "∃" means survival for some people but not everyone on planet Earth (a take on the movie 2012?). Could this be another version of all life ending on Earth 2012 style but some people on Earth, but not all, are or will be saved by space aliens and the human race will be resettled on another planet in another galaxy far, far away. As the theory goes it was aliens from space that influenced the Aztecs, the Egyptians, and other races throughout time on Earth. After a series of space alien movies hostile to the human race it is about time for a space alien show to be friendly to the human race. I think THE EVƎNT will be that show. ![]()

in short run, this show is no good but it has a huge potential long run when more pieces of the story is available... the time interval is 66 years so there is no way the story could be told in less than 10 eps... i will watch 10 eps and decided to drop it or not

![]() STOP THOSE DAMN FLASH BACKS! I WANT CONTINUITY! I'M MAD AS HELL ABOUT THOSE FLASHBACKS AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE! STICK YOUR HEAD OUT YOUR WINDOW AND YELL I HATE THOSE FLASHBACKS AND I AIN'T GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE! ![]() What is it with those two egotistical FBI Agents in the Arizona desert with their suspect-hero telling his story as they turnaround at that roadblock to take that detour? Where is Fox Mulder and Scully? They wouldn't let a one-car roadblock stop them! X-Files can save this show like they did with their cross-over episode with COPS (if only X-Files was still running). I suppose the two FBI agents with their prisoner will pull off the road out of site of that roadblock to go take a look in the next episode. If they don't do that and continue on to the detour then the screenwriters and producers ought to be fired for such trash. "Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? Not the cops! Not the FBI! Those murderin' aliens! Oh! Jesus! It's the third remake of "V". "Can't we just get along?" INSERT infinite list of cliches here: ___ In real world news comes this "coincidental?" news from New Zealand, October 1, 2010 (and all over the world if you search Google News) "Earlier this week, the Sunday Times in Britain ran a report on the Malaysian astrophysicist, [Mazlan Othman], who is the head of the United Nations' Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). The publication claimed she would be officially announced as the UN's ambassador to visiting little green men, at next week's meeting of the Royal Society in Buckinghamshire." "However, the agency, a little-known branch of the United Nations General Assembly, based in Vienna, Austria, termed the report "nonsense", and Prof Othman herself has dispelled the myth. "It sounds really cool, but I have to deny it," she told The Star newspaper in Malaysia." Sarcastically from a global sociological point of view are we being prepared for a future hostile space alien invasion using TV science fiction shows to get us prepared like the U.S. military uses combat simulation video games that trickle down to our teenagers to get them ready for military service? Or is this just reality taking ideas from science fiction for a possible future? Or is it possible that I am getting lost in all this mixing of reality and science fiction? I need a reality break.

But that girl with the black hair is hot - anyone know her name? On September 25 2010 06:51 donhamrick wrote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existential_quantification My theory on THE EVƎNT. ![]() Or they could just have turned the E, to make it look cool ![]() But yeah, it's possible! But again, i doubt they want to explain predication logic to their viewers ![]()

being aliens is just too simple. And ABC already has had the TV show 'V' which is about aliens. Fuck... the 4400 was ABC too. man idk. I'm still voting for future people.

But the show lost me when the portal opened up and the plane was consumed. I thought the show was going to be more political conspiracy and not the whole aliens and non-terrestrial beings deal.

Also, do they not realize that the two planets would crash into each other because they were so close? And even if they didn't crash, the orbital pattern of the earth would be completely messed up and the planet would either be flung into the sun or outside the solar system. These aliens sure are smart. I hope they do reveal what the secret was because otherwise it'd be like another SGU in which they set up a cool overarching mystery and never reveal what it was. With the right speed they could orbit eacother. And I assume the sun as well if they. Atleast you can assume they atleast acounted for that. What however would be totaly messed up is the tidal waves caused by that giant mass orbiting earth. I dont see why they had to come up with all this stuff in the final episode.... We do finaly know what the event might be, too bad it hardly had anything to do with this season.

the shows i get attached to always end up getting axed. hopefully if the show doesn't get picked up some writer or blogger will find out what would have happened and let us know, like this guy did with Defying Gravity: http://cliqueclack.com/tv/2009/10/29/how-defying-gravity-would-have-progressed-straight-from-the-creator/

a lots of people blame on the writing but i dont think its the reason why the show sucks. There were clearly too much hype from the beginning as a replacement for Lost. After that critic flame the pilot all the way which affect the decision of the show run. Im quite sure the writers didnt write the story in order to aim it in 1 season. A lots of corner has been cut which ruined the show. Acting was 7/10 overall but its clearly not terrible to stop people from watching. The one we should blame is NBC for their decision to stop the show! I hope CBS gona pick it up in the future, re write as well as remade everything. The story has too much potential to be ignored.

Lost was an hour long commercial on why to watch the next episode, it was horrible I agree with everything you said about LOST,simply hated the show even thought i've seen a couple of seasons. Sean's girlfriend and the crazy assassin chick were extremely hot! The show was decent i thought it had a really slow start, but picked up smoothly and then had tons of action. I really did enjoy the plot of the story as i basically love anything with aliens interacting with earth. As everyone is saying the writing was really bad. With that being said i thought the acting was pretty good. I did like most of actors, especially the guy that played the master planner and new leader of the aliens. But because the writing was so awful it made you see an actor playing a role, as apposed to looking at the actor simply of the character he is playing. The ending basically sucked, and yes this doesn't matter because no one is go wanna put alot of money into a show with horrible ratings.

they we going to kill the earth's population to make room for themselves. earth can't support another 2.2 billion people and there is no room for them. Then they drop this new info that even if they didn't kill us, we would die anyway during the event; which would occur when the visitors and humans lived on the earth together..... Simon Lee begins to explain the event to shawn(sean?) and then the guy from heroes interrupts and everyone forgets about what agent Lee was saying..... wtf? then he says all the answers are on sean's scroll, which he's had for like a week and hasn't even thought about. i really don't get how this kid who has been following along step for step with the visitors, figuring out all kinds of shit, hasn't tried to start figuring out what the old guy was talking about and what the old guy gave him. They've been globe-trotting and driving around the country, so there has been enough down-time for him to at least try to figure it out, but he seems to not care about any of it. What's the deal with the president's wife? she's a visitor, and tells her son the planet in the sky is home, yet she helps the president who is trying to stop her people. I'm assuming it's simply because she loves him. we better get some answers if the show never comes back.

That really depends on your taste. I wouldn`t call it a huge disappointment but I can clearly see why it got cancled. The ending is kinda semi-finished, the old plotlines mostly get fixed while new once open up in the last second without any kind of explanation. So it is not really finished. Then again, if you got time to kill and don´t mind huge plotholes I think you can enjoy this show. I did, it is very silly at times, but not enough to kill the mood, so it is still kinda interesting and intense. Some characters (I am looking at you leala..) are really annoying though.
