if he was really that scared he would always be connected to the tower and unhook/rehook so he always would have some protection. if they only get paid 12-30 dollars an hour, wouldnt it make sense for them to take as much time as possible to make the hours anyway and be as safe as possible? i bet this is one of those things that once you do it, you think to yourself "oh this wasnt that bad at all". There are some scarier jobs out there tbh.

When you only see them use the hook every once in a while it makes you think that the wind isnt really that bad. the guy in the video doesnt look like hes shitting bricks so either its not that bad or he makes it look easy as hell. if he was really that scared he would always be connected to the tower and unhook/rehook so he always would have some protection. if they only get paid 12-30 dollars an hour, wouldnt it make sense for them to take as much time as possible to make the hours anyway and be as safe as possible? i bet this is one of those things that once you do it, you think to yourself "oh this wasnt that bad at all". Oh, ya, their six gajillion mile climb with no safety lines and a 30 pound toolbag strapped to them is probably no big deal, I'm sure you'd ace it first try with no help.

Trad climbs have a rack that's over 50 pounds and harder to carry imo. these towers were meant for climbing, so there are plenty of hand and foot holds. I'd be more scared of forgetting an important tool than the climb, which after the first couple climbs, would be unnerving.

The only thing i find scary, that there are really few spots where you can secure yourself.

Im pretty sure that is a myth, it's not garantueed at least, people have survived falling long distances before (and thinking they would die during the fall) example
