I have done something similar to this in a job I had... albeit not that tall, only 140 feet up; although, I didn't attach safety lines every several feet, I didn't clip on until I got to the top.

You get used to it after a while... you have to be very deliberate but it becomes normal and doesn't scare you.

I actually don't think any small mistake would get him killed. It can happen, but it probably won't. I slipped on a ladder before without falling down.

A ladder is a ladder.

A lot of those foot holds on that thing aren't even straight. You have to factor in the winds and other things up that high. It's just not the same thing.

Jesus Christ, that's absolute insanity, I have to agree with Proto_Protoss, base jumping down every day would make it worth it and I'd feel much safer while climbing up knowing I had a parachute.
