![]() The ISP name is FREE The subscription cost is 37€/Month If you wanna know more about their offer + Show Spoiler + ![]() made by the designer philippe starck This offer is real new it only started in January although most of it already existed before that. 1. An internet box called Freebox server : Accepts xdsl and optical fiber. It includes a gigabit ethernet switch with 4 ports, a Wi-Fi 802.11n 3x3 450 Mbps chip and a 250GB hard drive to use as a NAS / video recording storage. It is possible to add more storage by plugging in external usb hard drives. An OLED screen on the Freebox server allows to control it directly but it is more practical using the incredibly well done local web interface that allows among other things to manage ip routing and downloads, enable upnp, monitor bandwidth usage or switch off the box. 2. A TV box called freebox player : based around an intel sodaville chip with 1GB DDR3. It comes with a BlueRay disc player and supports DTS true hd decoding through HDMI. The basic TV offer included in the price gives access to all french and foreign basic channels broadcasted in france (158 channels) and the associated catch up tv services. Much more premium channels are available for an additional monthly fee as well as vod services. All basic channels can also be watched on any computer connected to the freebox server and there is a possibility to receive an additional TV box for a monthly fee to use in another room. As for the interface, it navigates much like the one of the playstation systems and is pretty good looking. You can use it to record TV and use time shifting but it is also possible to organize recordings from anywhere through any computer or iphone connected to internet. The interface is not perfect right now but i expect it to improve a lot especially because the big user base usually produces mods for the player. The remote controler for the Freebox player uses radio waves and comes with a gyro & accelerometer. It can be used to browse over internet from your TV similarly to a Wiimote although i must say i don't find it very reactive. Still, it gets the job done. The box also comes with a gamepad which connects to the usb port. The games that currently exists are pretty bad but they look at least as good as what a wii can do and the controler is really nice. More games and softwares should be available soon in Free's appstore called Freestore 3. Phone : No need for a hardline subscription. Free unlimited calls to 115 countries including France, US & Canada Cell phones I'm pretty excited about it! Pretty cool isn't it? Sick company! Best ISP in the world! ![]() | ||
