rofl at these irish tools.
I'm amazed at how many people are buying into this scam to get people all riled up toward israel. It's pretty clear to me that their move was for the sole purpose of provoking action out of israel to make them look like the bad guys.
There is a legal blockade up against gaza which is legal according to the UN and therefore their cargo is checked. No big deal if your cargo is what it's supposed to be.
If you try sneaking past the security gate without checking your luggage at an airport they are going to stop you. This is really no different and I don't see how israel trying to keep out munitions that their terrorist led opposition might be getting is such a bad thing.

They are the bad guys, wtf? This is obviously a ploy, but that doesn't change the fact that Israel is the bad guy here.
|
Wow. Various country's are just straight up making Israel their bitch now.

Which rock have you been living under...?
Israel is doing almost everything they can to alienate Palestinians from their own country. You cant fight tanks with sling shots, they fall on desperate acts like cheap bombs and rockets that barely do any damage while the israeli army bombs an hospital.
I've been following the conflict for 15 years and my disgust has never faltered. Neither Canada or the US want to get involved because there is so much money from established american jews that is at stake, not to mention voting influence.
Edit Was in reply to SC911 fyi.

You're joking right? Lets change the scenario a little bit but not too much so that the message isn't lost.
You're at an airport traveling with your loved ones. They search your luggage and randomly search people. You have no choice in the matter. You can think it's against your personal space or you can agree that it's ok that they search you because that makes you and your family (hopefully) safer. The higher the security, hopefully the less chance someone blowing your plane and your family up.
If you try to sneak past the security gate, the security is going to grab you because that's pretty suspicious to sneak past. If someone is doing that then the chances are they are either A) hiding something or B) trying to provoke you into a conflict and really have nothing (a decoy).
What happened was B. They didn't have any weapons, however, if those boats were allowed through UNCHECKED it would set a precident that they could send more ships which would also likely go unchecked. This is a problem. This is a national security threat to Israel. They warned the boats. They told them where they could go to dock and have their cargo be passed on to gaza, but they refused.
They basically ran past the security guards and when the security guard tackled them, they resisted by attacking with pipes and whatever they could grab. If you did this at an airport you would be in handcuffs.
Anyways, If you believe for 1 second those guys on the boat were there to help anyone, you're sorely mistaken. It's unfortunate that people died, but many had letters of martyrdom written so they knew what they were getting into.

It looks like sailing towards blockaded gaza may be the gold mine of the tourist atraction, how much will you pay to take a ship and just fuck with israel? Name of the ship must be any of the names already said by mass_

Well it's an embargo if you're going with legal, for you to go with that you have to focus on that the previous group was belligerent in not letting Israel search their boats for what items they were bringing.

Hmm, embargo would suggest it was a commerce prohibition which has nothing to do with what's going on. They weren't going to sieze the "aid" supplies or deny them access. They just wanted to inspect to make sure they weren't smuggling in RPGs and AKs.
My knowledge of international law isn't that good, but I don't need to be a UN ambassador to know something shady is going on.

What? That's a ridiculous analogy. You're saying it was right for Israel to destroy an aid ship, just out of principle and for the desire not to set a precedent? That's totally absurd. They're basically trying to starve out the people of Gaza, not allowing aid to reach the bank is directly contributing to the misfortune of civilians. Israel has no legal authority to just destroy ships like that, that are going to territories not directly and explicitly controlled by Israel to boot.
Your overly simplistic analogy is terribly misguided.

Your overly simplistic analogy is terribly misguided.
1. No aid ship was destroyed. 2. They aren't starving anyone. From their own mouth they've stated how much tonnage is going into Gaza and it's the same tonnage that is offloaded. It's not like they have a secret Jew cave where they are hoarding all the food. 3. The aid reaches the port in Egypt then is moved into Gaza which is how it's been happening for quite some time now. They tried to bypass that and it didn't pay off for them. There is a legitimate risk Israel faces if it doesn't search the ships and that's why they have chosen to search it. If the cargo is truly just aid supplies then what's the big deal? Why be sneaky? 4. Again, what ship was destroyed? Do you have a link? I've seen nothing about any ship getting destroyed. 5. The territory doesn't matter. It's international waters and if you read the UN mandates they were well within their rights to blockade against Gaza because of the leadership they have chosen there and the fact that they are at conflict with one another.
I'm sorry for my simplistic analogy. It's difficult to find an analogy for something as complex as this. Clearly you and I have very different views which shows how complex it is.
|
Sorry, ship wasn't destroyed (http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2010/05/201053133047995359.html).
I just think it's pretty indefensible, and silly to use the analogy you did to justify Israel's actions. I would understand if the situation was less clear, the ship was clearly for humanitarian aid and peaceful. There was absolutely no provocation.

Except at the airport they don't randomly take out half your luggage and say you can't carry it onto the plane.
Also, since this happened in international water, before they even attempted to violate the blockade, the analogy of running through the security gate is false. It's like driving to the airport and getting stopped by airport security and have them start to check your car/luggage and then beating you when you resist because their authority does not extend outside of the airport.
|
The airport analogy is bad
A better one would be the airport security stopping you on the highway way before you reach the airport, banging down your car door armed with lethal weapons, then getting pissed at you when you try to fight them and tell them that the TSA has no authority to operate on the freeway.
If the ship had breached the blockade and wasn't in international waters, I wouldn't care the slightest about the Israelis searching a ship. But this...Israel plays fast and loose with international law and it always has, but.....
lol @ blackjack, I posted and you edited within a few seconds of each other to say the same thing....

I prefer my you're in a van filled with a bunch of mexican looking people heading to America, now they could all be Americans or they could not, but you don't cross at one of those normal stations, instead of notify them ahead of time you'll be crossing the boarder with a van full of people who could possibly be illegal and so they ask you to reroute to another place but you say no and then try to detain you a bit early near the Mexican American boarder one of those places that doesn't have a nice fence to point it out. and you get bat shit crazy on their ass because you don't think you did anything wrong, and then shit goes wrong.
Either way i think the immigration laws in America are shit also the whole citizenship by birth land, which i think America is the only country that does that.

In other words there is no analogy that sums this up nice and simple becuase it's a complex issue.
