Well my name isn't half as interesting as a lot of these but here it is. My name was originally Irbeth, dating back to D&D gaming as a kid with no real meaning except I liked it. So when I moved on to my first MMO (WoW) that was my main characters name. The problem being, everyone presumed I was a retarded monkey incapable of coming up with a name and so thought my name meant 'I R [Eliza] Beth’ and it started to really bug me.

I had guys whispering me for girl advice that I didn't even know purely because of my name (and I was quite a well known healer thanks to the guild I was in back at 60) and constantly being asked if I was Elizabeth and being referred to as it by random people I joined up with for a Baron45 or whatever, and it got old fast.

So I swapped to the name Eleutheria (Liberty from the Greek language) which worked well...until cross server battlegrounds, where almost every battleground I was getting whispers in Greek that I couldn't read. I ditched that one and went back to Irbeth, but decided to fix the I R Beth issue by spelling it phonetically. Eye-er-beth – Iyerbeth.

My nick's story is short. My initials are D.K.K.

Take D.K. and spell it the way it's pronounced in english but with the mind of a swedish 12-year-old and you get Dee-Kej (at least I did). I've been using it for 8 years now. Damn. Used it online on forums to start with, later used it as my nick in the swedish parkour communities. As I started playing the beta for sc2, the choice was easy.

Oh, and the fact that you can't have - in your name on battlenet makes me a sad nerd.

Satay is a local delicacy in my country, but it was always taken whenever I wanna use it. Then, when I was thinking, I saw my neighbor's cat Steve climbed over the fence and pooed in my other neighbor's lawn, so I combined satay with Steve, and got Setev. True story.

Mine goes back to my first online game - SOCOM on PS2, circa 2000. I was a really big Metal Gear Solid fan so my first name started out as Solid Snake. I eventually joined a clan and because of the tag Solid Snake would not work anymore so I went with 'Solidus,' the final boss in MGS2. I get into the competitive clans eventually [zT] and later on =Dp=, zero tolerance and dark patriots. The guys in Dp started callin me "Solly" for short and I eventually nerdified it and made it into "s0Li." I actually was the head mod for the gamebattles.com forums after it switched names fromsocombattles.com, wish I would of stuck with that lol

Story behind my ID is rather dull, but I'll share anyway. Few years back I was starting a warlock on WoW and needed a name - thought the word Nefarious fit quite well and shortening that down a little bit I ended up with Nefari.

For SC I thought it didn't quite go well, so shortening it down again I ended up with my current ID, Nefra.

Since then it's evolved slightly, back when I was modding regularly for the Day[9] daily (instead of my infrequent drunken visits to IRC now) a few observant viewers took note that my ID ends with 'ra', so mostly I would be addressed as nefrAAAAAAAAAAWWWW - some strange mix of the day9 scraw and how Sean used to say the 'ra' part of White-ra.

I kinda got used to it, but without wanting a helluva long ID, I just capitilise the 'RA' now, for effect x)

Also use the ID NefRaA on occasion, purely because the name Nefra is already taken in some places, like twitter... I mean, really? *sigh*

The name i use in pretty much every game is Hieron or Symbiont.

Hieron referring to the second brother of three ruling Syracuse from 478 to 466 B.C.

And symbiont refers to, well a Symbiont, the smaller part of a symbiosis between two parts were both gains something but one is more dependent on the other than opposite. NOT to be mistaken by a parasite.

I went to a private high school i the suburbs of Birmingham, and everyone was from little ritzy sounding towns/neighborhoods whereas I grew up in a little town called "Moody". People seemed to think it sounded funny, so that became my nickname in high school and has been my gamer tag ever since.
