I was reading Frank Herbert's Dune series (for the first time) when I first ventured onto Bnet (from a local netcafé iirc). I was like 12 at the time, and I have never had to choose an online handle before, so I just went with the first cool and somewhat unique thing that came to my mind (from the aforementioned book).

A 'naib' is the leader of a fremen sietch if you're interested

Literally it means something like 'servant of the sietch (as in, the people of it)' if I translated it right.

Hehe nice thread.

I made my nickname when i was like 10,11 and needed something which just sounds cool.
I always thought "Master" sounds cool, but ofc thats too common so i needed to add another name to it. Again i just thought of something which sounded cool in my head and thought of ReY.

Ofc i didnt know it was "King" in spanish :D
However it fits quite well!
I AM THE MASTER KING !!!!!!

These days im just using ReY on BNET and stuff because its shorter

I suck creative balls at coming up with names, and I'm unable to stick with one. My TL ID is part of a song title, and the name I'm mostly known for in SC2/Dota is DarkCell, which is another song title (different band). Other than that I usually use simple names, the most used was variations of Sky that I used in Broodwar.

I also want to point out I dislike the silly x at the beginning/end of my TL ID, but that's what happens when you ask someone to make the account for you because 14.4k internet is slow as hell.

like 10 years ago i used to play CS and I used the name loki, it came from Uruloki from the book called Simalarion. at the time there were so many people that used the name loki, so I just put my first initial at the end of it which is M(Mike), lokiM just sounds so awesome and I've kept it all this time

Before I even knew it, if you read it backwards it's pronounced MIKOL(which is my real name, Michael) that's when I knew it was fate, and I've kept it ever since

My original username was Shuruken, which was a misspelled version of Shuriken.
But then I changed it to Gao Xi, after i had dinner one day, and ate the most motherfucking delicious Gao Zi, and i was like "holy shit its awesome". Then I thought it would look cooler as a 'X' instead of a 'Z'

Ever since i sat down at a computer (when i was 4-6 LOL) i've always had problems with choosing a alias. Then after i saw the anime Kinos Journey (which i liked alot) i decided to use Kino as my nickname but so many fags seems to steal that name so i end up having to use KinosJourney instead(usually with numbers added

My ID came from an older ID I had in WoW, Doomrom which is just a randomly generated name.

I am however a fat kid and I did not feel Doomrom felt like a fat kid name, and what's more fat-kid-esk than bacon?!

(Fat kid who played WoW?! Improbable!)

I was searching for a new smurf together with my teammate to do some stupid strategies in 2on2. We tried a lot of stuff that should be somehow related but it should not be easy to see that we were a team. Two of the names we were using were unignore and unsquelch. You can use both as commands in Bnet to remove someone from your ignore list. Well, after a few matches I found out that people often accidentally type "/w unignore name" instead of "/unignore name". So I ended up getting random whispers from random people. It's extremely funny to write something confusing back to them or just use a funny /dnd message.

But I guess this wont work with the new battle.net anymore? I'm not sure, I don't have a beta key...

in starcraft 1 beta the 3rd race was named zurg.....later they changed it to zerg
