TeamLiquid is not so bad, but at really popular sites, and especially sites where lots of people make multiple accounts, it can be very annoying to find a name that hasn't been taken. It's even more annoying to be constantly filling out the sign-up form, waiting for it to process, and then finding out that--no, this is taken too, try again. So when I was signing up for KDice (free online Risk-type game), I finally gave up and just picked a nice short string of letters out of the alphabet. Once I had started using that name I used it a few more times, especially on sites where I didn't care to spend too long figuring out a name (hey, I didn't think I would get hooked on TL! I only originally signed up to ask a question, a long time ago, about whether any progamers played Random). | ||

Anyway in the intervening years between that initial disastrous AKA and this one, I went by various combinations of Peaceable, for one of my favorite characters from a kids' book, and Ghost, for my favorite unit. Originally it was PeaceableGhost on br.com and it's (mostly) been various *Ghost* names on other forums since. But this current aka - also my iCCup ID - is special. Last year I went to South Korea to teach English. (I'm still kind of reclusive, so I never met any other tl'ers on purpose, sorry.  I did get on camera multiple times though, including an MST game between Much and fOrGG. ^^) In my first week there, I had to deal with the fact that one of the Korean teachers had told all the students that the "new teacher" was this scary - 무서은, if I remember correctly - guy, and of course since I'm nearly 6'2" (around 185 cm I think) all the kids thought this was true. One class especially - four kindergarten girls - called me "scary teacher" for the next two months as a joke. So what could I do? I adopted it - bastardized in Anglicization to Musoeun - as my user name. Much <3 to "AJ", wherever you are, 'cause you gave a TL'er a respectably non-boring screen name.  Even if that wasn't your intention. | ||

I have used it in WoW, HoN, and some other games (or a modified version of it anyways cause sometimes there is a character limit). I actually don't like the name because everyone calls me Charlie or CM, it's long to type out. My real alias has always been Spore or SpoR since like 1999. I used this for my graffiti name, but it is usually always taken when I start a new game or make an ID for a website or whatever. I didn't actually get the ID on bnet till like 2004 or 2005. Before that I was using Eye-Loser for team games, and Eye-Suck for 1v1s, in an effort to keep my stats organized. I made those names based on the common trend where people had pun names ,or phrased names: Play.to.win, Nevergetawin, Iplay4food, etc. I was trying to make clever names that had a double meanings and to throw people off thinking I was a bad player if they didn't check my stats. I, Loser. As in some kind of philosophical/existential meaning, but also 'Eye Loser' as in raping your eyes out of your head. (I know it's lame but I was like 14). I Suck, or Eye Suck same kinda thing. And before that I would just make random joke names every time I played, or every week. Usually related to some inside joke or some mildly humorous shit. Manwich, Drunk-Donkey, Donk-Drunkler, MrPoopiePants, DinnerTable (bring your manners to me!), RoboSexual, MannerPolice, FloatingBarrack, MannerMushroom, MannerSubmarine, Control_The_Masses, etc. etc. http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=54373 | ||

It was carried over from gosugamers which was carried over from a battle.net account I made when I left a really old clan that died and needed a new ID. I think I started using it 5 or 6 years ago... I do remember that the 3 isn't significant. I tried to register eclipse and it was taken, so being the 1337 kid that I was, I just substituted the number. Why I chose the word eclipse I`m really not sure. I think it`s a fairly neutral word, and I've never been one to pick screen-names that make some obvious statement about the user or are related to the game. It might be a subtle reference to the Pink Floyd song as I've been a prog rock fan for a really long time, but I honesty have no idea if I consciously considered that at the time. TBH, I don`t really like it much anymore. I've used one of my many aaaahhhhgggg accounts on iccup for a long time (originally picked to be anonymous so I wouldn't feel self-conscious of my record) and I now go by Circean in sc2, but I'm hesitant to change it as a lot of people know me by this ID now. It's also annoying when meeting tlers IRL. "Oh hi, I'm [insert name] on teamliquid" "I'm eclipse" "....." "with a 3" "oh right" Then every once in a while someone pronounces it three-clips (lol, kore).  | ||
