Isaiah 8:3: "And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz."
The whole compound name means something like "hurry to the plunder", in reference to an impending attack by Assyria. The meaning seemed appropriate for Starcraft, and a hip reference for anyone familiar with Isaiah.
Also I like its cross-compatibility with computer science: hash as in hash table, baz as in the standard sequence of dummy names "foo, bar, baz".

A great ID has to be easy to remember, and should say something about the player and their personality.
CatInTheHat fits the bill quite well, it's easy to remember, nobody else in the gaming scene has taken it, and it kinda shows my playful/trolly personality.
I also like cats and all the Dr. Suess books :D

i chose my name since my power is over 9000. but i'm thinking of changing it since bnet 2.0 doesn't really support numbers in my name.

I hope none of my friends ever read this: I really liked tennis when i was younger, and I thought I had a really quick hand so I thought about having my name being lightninghand. But that sounded too gay, so I thought of firehand, and the 101 is because its taken.....who would take that name seriously?
May this secret rest in this thread forever

Colm, my fave thief from the fire emblem series ^_^

boredrex came from this thing my friends and I were talking about... :"I'm more bored than a boredasaurus rex." my main name for most things is danstrife (combo of dan and cloud strife, herp derp). I wish I never used that (I don't even like FF VII that much!) My current name on BNet is Jaynecobb, after the character from our favorite canceled show ever (firefly for you scrubs). I felt Jayne Cobb fits perfectly in the starcraft setting.
However, I am toying with the idea of changing it over to Batmankoff (Russian batman, read superman red son if you need to know where he is from)

thats how my classmates called me(my name is Jan) it was alredy taken somewhere so swiched o with zero and stuck with it. I thought about changing it to YouNoNeedNoGrapes or PuddnigMan from this flash (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/487182) as 2 my friends used LeggoMyEggo and DrinkSomeJuice

I picked Tufty for my ID because when me and my friend spent the better part of 3 months exclusively playing Oblivion, i would always use the same hair style on all of my characters, which had a tuft in the front. If you ever played oblivion for more than 10 hours on one character, you would know how ridiculous acrobatics gets if you jump constantly -_-. So this tuft with such mobility obviously needed a song! " Born in the mountains of Tennessee, he's the friendliest tuft that you'll ever see, its TUFTY!!! the friendly tuft!

Well, my original ID was "Ozzmosis". I was/am a huge Ozzy Osbourne fan, and I liked what that album title did (taking a normal word - Osmosis - and making it be related to Ozzy), so I chose it as the ID for my mage in WoW. About a 3/4 year later, I switched servers to play in a top 100 guild (my old server was kinda dead in that regard), and I enjoyed the time there a lot, as I went on to become their best DD. Those guys also had a kinda weird, but still funny as hell humor (a little shoutout the guys from "Air" on Mal'Ganis EU here!). But then the guild fell apart cause our guild's leader finally managed to get a job offer after a long time of unemployment. So, what happened? I switched back to my old server to start playing again with my old pals (I had quite a lot of them, as I somehow got quite famous on that server), but in the meantime I had leveled up a warlock that had the same name as my mage ("Ozzmosis", and to be honest, it fits a warlock better than a mage). So I had to come up with something that would be reognizeable, but still cool sounding. I always liked the word "awesome", and being the self-confidently mannered person that I am, I stepped up and chose to mix my "old" signature part of my name ("Ozz") with the word "awesome". What emerged from it, was the new, and from there on to always be used, because it's kinda unique (only one in the WoW to have that name on any server in any region) ID: "Ozzsome". That's the tale of my nickname.

When I was 10 I wanted a really original name that no one else had, I realised that the only thing unique to just me was my name so for the rest of my life I spent time picking names with Lynn in it. My most used being LynnieChan because it was the only thing that was NEVER taken and I went through that addicting anime phase.
When I started playing League of Legends and later on SC2 all the Lynn's were taken so I need something new. I stole "Immortal" from my e-mail Immortal.insanity and tacked the lisk at the end. I've found it to be highly original and belonging only to me so I can live with it.

The ID I use now came from the WoW randomizer in BC, later on I figured out a way to explain how to pronounce it for the people who just didn't get it. Sound out the caps.
MOO its A TAUREN = Muataran

I played obilvion back when it came out and it was my favorite game. When playing i loved playing as a caster character, and my favorite school of magic was conjuration. When i finally maxed out conjuration i constantly used the spell "Summon: Dremora Lord". A few months later i needed a name for wow, and i ended up choosing Dremoralord for my tauren druid (orignally a warrior, but didn't change the name when i rerolled). From there the name just got shortened from: Dremoralord -> dremalord -> dremora -> dreama (noone in that guild realized there wasn't an "ea" before the "m") -> drema - > drem. The 903 is my identifier in sc2.
