when I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein back in like 2000 as my first ever FPS, I didn't know who to shoot, so I just ended up blattering my own teammates. The server mod thing announced that "McClurg is CluEleSs (UK)!" and from then on it became my ID (except where it's taken, and I become McClurg [my real name])

first my nickname was Shadower, cause i used to play Maplestory and it was the coolest job.
After that i began to play the Call of Duty Series and met a fantasy, he was pretty damn good and i wanted to fake him.. the name stood :D

I was about 13 playing Unreal Tournament 2004 and needed a new ID (i used to go by Neo). I had always liked Elvish names and to me this sounded elvish... Not a great story because I literally just made it up, had never heard it anywhere else but it sounded cool to me. Used it ever since

I played Blizzard games for as long as I can remember. Blizzard was and still is my favourite gaming company. About a day before the release of SC2, I had re-watched the Wizard of Oz. I simply combined the two together and thought it was a clever name

Had a different nick for every major game I've been playing. Was called Grimmekylling back in my Utopia days. (Means Uglychicken in danish.) Being a huge South Park fan, this got changed to Chinpokomon when I got into WoW, which was the name of the second character I played there. The name stuck for nearly 5 years, but with the change to SC2, and me quitting WoW for school reasons I needed a new name.

OrchidThief is based on the main character of the Kaufmann movie "Adaptation", and was originally the name of my Undead Rogue in WoW. It has become one of my favorite movies, and thus became my handle for the new era in my life that is SC2.

My ID, Tryxtira, came to life when I started playing WoW many years ago. I wanted to come up with a cool Night Elf name and something quite unique which still was possible to say without too much trouble.

Obviously, as people get to know me, the shorter form "Tryx" is more and more common. I am and always will be Tryxtira!

My ID is usually Sphynx. That's how I spell it, although ive seen some writings with Sphinx. Always like the creature after watching an episode of Ghostbusters wherein it asks a riddle that is perplexing but simple.

On sc2, I chose the nickname Cerberus. I wanted to at least try all three races and be general ok with them, just silver and gold is fine with me as I play infrequently but I never got to get a hang of zerg, unlike back in BW. But the thought behind it was a 3 headed creature/dog that was guardian of the underworld. Thought it was an ok name and sometimes in game, people just refer to me as Cerb. =)

I used to play CS under the name En.V.uS and then eventually envius (envy us) and when I started moving up the ranks and playing in CAL-I back in about 2003 I decided to shorten it up to the obligatory CS shorthand style that was really popular at the time (it still is I guess).

So En.V.uS became envius which eventually became nvs.

On an unrelated note my SC2 name is LegioN, after my favorite death metal album.

well its my username for like everything so i kept it for TL, its easier for me to remember than getting 80 diffferent user names for the different sites im a member of. but im a political science major, hence polysci....though it should probably be polisci to be "correct"....
my SC2 id however is thrawn like from the star wars books, though if only i had his ability to determine psych profiles of opponents based on their favorite art i would be unstoppable

fully agree with you about the show, too bad FOX cancelled it after only 1 season.....serenity was good though

after playing starcraft 1 some 12 year ago i found the name "Aldaris" to be cool. I thought he was a super cool character in SC1 and i wanted a similar name. So i basicly copied the name, and wanted it to end on "star". and then "Aldaristar" was born.

My ID is Cobbler usually, but its taken about half the time, so I either stick in an extra "B", or spell it "Cobblar."

My real name is Colby. Cobbler was my nickname for some portion of highschool, because in the yearbook, on the caption of a picture, they spelled my name "Cobly." When you say it out loud, it kinda sounds you are about to say cobbler, so some of my friends started calling me cobbler as a joke, but it just stuck. I used to have really terrible usernames, so I decided that Cobbler would be a good one to start using. Simple, but also unique enough.

Also, just for reference, I'm peach cobbler. I'm not a shoe repair man, and I'm definitely not apple cobbler.
