Bobble Australia1493 Posts July 15 2011 14:54 GMT #2284 Well, I was sitting in an IT class, fiddling around, not doing much, and the guy sitting in front of me was drawing halo characters, like jackals, grunts, etc. One day, he decided to give a Grunt a massive head. The thing was bloody adorable, and I said it to him. He was really weirded out by it, and just said, 'you really like that bobbleheaded grunt?' I said yeah, and he was like, 'Hmm, 'you were slain by Bobble, hmm, that works'. And that's how I got the name. When it's taken, I use Bobblefighter, it makes my I.D a bit manlier, but the whole key is that it has a unique story, and when I beat you, you have to go and tell people you were beaten by a guy named Bobble.

The original non-English is "Gizzi" The name means that my family either comes from or went to Egypt at some point in our history. If we came from Egypt we were once either Muslim occupiers or slaves. If we went to Egypt then it means we were once Crusaders who fought in Egypt. That, to me, is the far more awesome prospect, and since there was once a Gizzi in line to be Pope, I tend to believe that's the more accurate one. The original pronunciation of the name is "Jeetzy," but has since been Americanized to "Gizzie" or Giz for short. I have somewhere around 14 different nicknames as a result of my unique-sounding last name, the most prominent of which is "Giz." I added the "The" many years ago for reasons I forget. The biggest problem with my name is that the "g" sound is the voiced velar plosive 'g', not the voiced alveolo-palatal affricate 'j' sound that people think it is. This has resulted in a lot of BM/trolling in SC2 where people think my name is 'Jizz.' Most of the time I'll just say 'L2pronounce' or ignore it.

The message that displayed when you killed somebody was "xxxxx was killed by xxxxx". I had the name Cancer for a while, but after I decided that was a bit less creative than I was capable I tried to come up with something original. Ether- as a prefix to Ethernet (this was the golden age of LAN parties) and Ethereal etc stuck out to me, and I thought Etherwar was a cool double entendre meaning ethernet war and also ether war (as in space war). I don't complain how it is pronounced, but I do it with a long E.

I hijacked Teddyjex for my online ID for eeeeeverything, and have been using it ever since. Now I'm kinda bored with it but my online friends would consider it heresy to change after almost a decade.

I started playiong WoW a long time ago, I made a hunter and as a joke named it "thehuntsman" which is a character from an old cartoon called freakazoid, I did it as a joke figuring I would just play wow for a few weeks and quit. I ended up leveling it to 60 (the max back then) and joining a guild and playing it seriously, and so everyone called me hunts, and the Id kinda stuck. Now everyone asks if I named myself after the ketchup brand

DoomDragoon is the name of a protoss mod in BW. Reason for the change: I currently use the Immortal pic because it is the closest to a dragoon. I can't bring myself to use the hydra, even tho I think it looks sweet, while my name is DoomDragoon. Also, I have been wanting to change to something a little more elegant, but never had a reason to. Aniki is the nickname Simon gives Kamina in the anime Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

My NA account however, is name Chocobo, the most cuddly awesome creature ever imagined. Plus it would make for awesome fanart if I ever got good enough to get fans (being a zerg n all)

Been using it as my ID ever since.

I didn't think I'd get so into Sc2 because I never really enjoyed RTS games. A year later I'm still playing Sc2, and finally quit WoW so I no longer wanted that WoW association whenever I logged into Sc2. I decided to use my free name change. Then it happened. Years and years of playing games and creating website accounts where 'first come first serve' rules with an iron fist when it comes to getting a name had programmed my brain. I completely forgot about Bnet 2.0's naming policy where you can have whatever you want. So as I was trying to figure out a new more "starcrafty" name I decided to mess around and put in dull cliche names that were surely taken. I almost typed Sephiroth, but my fingers wouldn't allow me to be that lame. I punched in "Requiem" while lulzing a bit and hit enter. The "That Name Has Been Taken" window didn't pop up... WTF.... I was at the Bnet menus?... my new name "Requiem" staring at me from the upper corner like a trollface.jpg? Dammit. + Show Spoiler +

bdbrufus United States36 Posts August 07 2011 06:36 GMT #2297 My battle.net ID is Rufus which is actually my middle name that i have hated my whole life, I was named after my grandpa and when i was younger my older brother and his friends would always make fun of my middle name (not sure why ...) anyways I ended getting made fun of so much that like 10 years later (by now it was an inside joke that i no longer took offense to) it caught on to me. So that's why I use it ha and the name I use in everything else because things like Rufus are taken is Stormleaf I actually created this one a long time ago probably when i was around 10 because I wanted to play D&D with my older brothers lol. Anyways after hours of searching through random elf name generators on line i decided (since my concept of elves were pointed eared green Indians that lived in trees or something whack) that i would just take to nature nouns and put them together so i ended up with Stormleaf. Ha and I wouldn't actually care about this name but as we were playing D&D my guy was unstoppable even though i had no idea how to play i would basically just do what my brothers said and roll 20s ^^ and it just stuck with my young imaginative mind
