NSFW is content that is "Not safe for work". This includes not only explicitely sexual pictures and videos, but any sort of image which is sexual or grotesque in nature such that the average person would not want to see while at work.

I am going to start giving out warnings and bans for this. As teamliquid grows, so too does the responsibility of the OP to protect readers. Many users access teamliquid.net from shared computers, work computers and in public areas.

Note: Placing NSFW images in spoilers is not an acceptable solution. Images in spoilers preload (apparently only in Firefox?) defeating the entire purpose of using them.

If you are making a NSFW thread, please place NSFW as the first text in the thread title. This ensures the warning will show up in the sidebar as well as the forum index.

If you are linking to a NSFW page (from teamliquid.net or not), please indicate clearly that the link is NSFW.

If you are making a NSFW reply in a thread that hasn't be labelled as NSFW, do not use the img tag. Leave the images as links. This way people don't accidentally access the images. Remember that putting them in spoiler tags is not a solution.

If you have any questions or suggestions to improve these guidelines, please reply.

i think image thread should be and exception or should be renamed to have the [NSFW] tag in it's name : )

What about YouTUbe videos? Google does a good job prefiltering most of the stuff but you can still find "sexy" videos or "wtf" videos in youtube and TL auto tags them. People should be noted to force links (with [url]) when posting videos too...

There are some threads "random pics" comes to mind, that has a lot of spoilered NSFW images, should the mods then change the titles of these threads to reflect this? Should we come up with a list of those "major" threads that should probably need that title?

Seems like a good idea, but you probably don't want to have to go through all the threads to find stuff like this. Are we gonna add this stuff to previous threads or let them be grandfathered in despite the new guidelines?

This is a very important point.

I can't help always clicking the NSFW-links at work though. I imagine the secret service guys (really, we have them. It's a big company) will come to take me away soon =(

Good idea. I'd hate to accidentally stumble upon one of DoctorHelvetica's asian girl blogs while at the office.

It should be a given, but if you're not sure about something, err on the side of caution and simply post a link. You can never go wrong by doing that.

Edit - Random Image thread has been renamed.

Right - It would be nearly impossible to go through every old thread this might apply to. So, for high traffic threads, such as the Random Image thread, we can easily rename. This will apply to all threads/posts moving forward from today.

Guidelines look good. Thanks for implementing. It's really good to see the mods are taking action against unnecessary evils.

I don't agree with this at all. You shouldn't be reading TL at work anyway, and this is a step in a direction that I don't want to see TL going. TL is not a professional website, it is a forum where people in their teens and early-mid 20's (for the most part) come to take a break and banter with each other about both sc and non-sc related stuff, that just so happens to host a ton of amazing events and material as well.

I feel that NSFW tags should be present as a matter of courtesy, but disallowing it entirely is a form of censorship. What's next, no cuss words? It's not like I visit TL to see nude women and profanity, but disallowing this sort of thing kills the spirit of this forum.

Edit: Opps, totally missed the sentence saying the only restriction is putting NSFW in the title. I Completely support this then.

It's not being disallowed entirely, if I'm reading this correctly...

It isn't being disallowed. You just have to put NSFW in your thread if you are going to post that sort of thing.

Also, what is the TL policy on nudity? I've seen topics with nudity go by unclosed but I was warned and had one of my blogs closed for nudes. Is it a grey area?

For a while I remember TL being completely fine with nudity, but at one point it was decided that its not a good thing. I think the official ruling is no nudity, but its not too heavily enforced so you will see it pass sometimes. Particularly like funny nudity vs porno graphic nudity.

I think TL's policy on nudity is that it is fine as long as it's legal. Of course common sense supersedes what I just wrote, so there's that too if you want to post huge dongs or something.

This is the standard at nearly every website. Plenty of things are already disallowed. All we ask is you warn people about what they're about to see - just like spoilers about progaming. Would you argue the requirement of the spoiler tag killed the spirit of the forum?

Well if that's the policy then I wouldn't have broken the rules.

I'll just not go there.
