Actually I know a few SUPER EDGY nihilist types that think the world would be better if we just killed all the trash. of course everyone is trash besides themselves and people who agree with them.
I don't think they actually truly want that though.
I'm not taking sides here, but I don't see how it matters whether a cop decided to shoot him or not.
He's insane..
Not a "weirdo" insane, but a "danger to society" insane. I mean it's cool that he didn't have to die, and I guess were expecting him to be treated and come out all fine -- but if they shot him, well to me that just means 1 less crazy person to worry about.
I mean these may be the people who "lose it" one day and shoot up a mall.
Does having this opinion make me a bad person or something?
I think you're over symplifying the issue so as to make your immoral decision seem rational.
The guy clearly has a screw loose and wanted to commit suicide. If he had attacked the cops, he probably would have been shot, but he didn't attack, because something stopped him. He isn't a killer, he just wanted to die.
Regardless, the decision isn't kill him or he might kill somebody later. Instead he'll be treated and probably kept away from society until he's ready to return.

It might not have been a katana though. There are a dumber of different kinds of samurai sword.
Indeed. His post is actually sort of ironic. It could very well have been a katana since it is the most popular nowadays - but there are a number of other swords it could have been. Of interest they called it a medium sized sword - makes me think it might be a kodachi.
What the article doesn't mention is that the cops actually surrendered when the 21st-century Samurai deflected all their bullets with his sword, sliced their guns in half, and demanded to speak to the President. Soon he'll be on the front lines in foreign wars, slicing up armored tanks with his swordplay. I know this is possible because I've seen it happen in anime, which closely mirrors reality.

Yes because knowing types of swords is part of modern day culture. I bet if someone pulled a scimitar or a rapier they would call it is just a sword, imo if anything it takes part of this eastern fetish and romanticism of their crap that is in today culture frankly i would question why is it important that you call it a katana maybe you would like it spelled in traditional Japanese too.
Perhaps when someone shoots up a school you would like them to give the full name the gun instead of just calling it a gun. =p ridiculous
On other news good job to the police officers able to subdue the guy without having to shoot him in the leg or something.

Not true, sad to say my cousin was gunned down when police showed up at his door while he was cooking. He couldnt hear them knocking so one officer swung around to the sliding door and went in. My cousin was shocked and went toward the front door where my other cousin was standing with the second officer, he unlocked it and came out within 20 feet of the cop. He was shocked and thought the guy in his house was a burglar and still had a knife in his hand and ignored the warning to drop it. He stepped down the stairs to get away from the house and was gunned down, 3 to the chest. Turns out the law in defense of cops is that if someone is within 20 feet of you and not responding to you then you can shoot them.
Katana does jack shit against armored opponents unless you get them in the face or something (I'm sure the one who tackled him was wearing body armor), and they were probably afraid he'd fall on his sword if they tazed him or something.
But WTF is with certain people in here seeing evidence of police restraint, and disregarding it by saying it was some sort of reverse psychology bullshit? Like the only reason they didn't shoot was because he wanted them to, but they totally would have otherwise? I have some respect for the thin blue line. Sometimes I wonder if the people who don't are on the wrong side of it.

Thank you for making fun of someone with autism. If it was some warcraft nerd it would have been okay because that's actually funny but when it's someone with some type of disability it's really not funny at all.
