first, thanks for the translation. my girlfriend isn't japanese, she's chinese. she just knows japanese pretty well and she knows i can't read it (i am chinese). had a bad fight last night regarding long distance issues. im working in los angeles and shes going to school in san diego (1.5 hour commute). I visit a lot (about 3 times a week) and really make the effort to show dedication cuz she's an awesome girl, but the distance is wearing her down and shes basically telling me she won't be happy unless i live near/with her. im not sure what to do at this point. should i stay with her and try my best knowing she'd be pretty unhappy or should i let her go and find someone who could be near her? her own opinion is that she doesn't want anyone else, she just wants me to move... but its difficult for me to move because i just started working here and my family is here as well (in LA). opinions?

Also, there is definitely something psycho about writing notes on people's legs in languages they can't understand. I think you need to realize that it's time to move on (from the information you presented, anyway), and find someone in your area who will give you more back and won't be a maniac.

Tell her that if you 3 times a week (which is plenty btw, people have had to deal with less) is insufficient, she could come up and visit YOU on the other days to share the burden. If she can't drive, she can use public transport. If she is unwilling to do that, then tell her that that shows already how much more you care than she does. If that is what happens, I think you should break up for your own sake. Also, there is definitely something psycho about writing notes on people's legs in languages they can't understand. I think you need to realize that it's time to move on (from the information you presented, anyway), and find someone in your area who will give you more back and won't be a maniac. She actually tries her best to come up and visit me when i'm not down there. Usually, during the weekdays, she can't do it but on the weekends she tries to come every other weekend. Another thing that is throwing a wrench in it is her mom, her mom doesn't approve of her driving (and last year, flying from san diego to san francisco) to see me, which is pretty lame. As a result, she makes less trips and it has to be under the radar somehow. When she wrote that, it was around 3 AM and i fell asleep. I think she couldn't sleep after all the shit we talked about, so I don't blame her if its a little psycho. Your brain does weird stuff when it isn't sleeping when it should be. Anyway, here's a pic for popular demand. Im not gonna base anything on a poll, cuz i know for what reasons i like her. haha. ![]() Left most with the light tan shirt is her. She usually doesn't wear make up like this. ![]() I like it more when she looks like this (no make up)

No matter what people say about letting her go, it's all on you. If you can't because you like her so much for "whatever" the reason, then you won't. Man, what the heck, that's just me trying to be sensible. She's not worth it if she doesn't want to make it work. 3 days is god damn eternity!!! and 1.5 hours isn't even long distance. Good luck to you man.

A lot of people can't. His girlfriend seems to fall into the latter category.

In regards to the original topic of this thread, the early 20's are always a rough time to have a relationship because people still don't have steady jobs, have a tendency to move around a lot, and are learning the ropes of being a real adult with responsibilities. She has to understand that the relationship is going to be strained at this time, but it won't be forever. I think media and the shortened attention span of people nowadays fools them into thinking problems that require time and patience to resolve have to be resolved NOW. Think about it. The only thing that changed about the relationship was the distance. Once schooling is finished and both of you are financially stable and can afford your own place to live, distance is no longer a factor. True, a couple of years waiting until that happens feels like an eternity, but in the long term, if you happen to stay with this girl for the rest of your lives, what is a couple of years? It's a drop in the bucket.
