In the end, it turned out that I stressed more if I could not see those things :') Even after a few weeks I just kept thinking about my health bar and acc.. So I enabled everything again. The only thing disabled now is the combo animations at 50, 100, etc. I don't think it's too distracting, as long as your skin is simple, although that also depends on the way of playing. In MP, i do disable everyone's scores. I guess it's mostly a taste kind of thing. I could deal with the health being on. Though I definitely prefer it all being off because knowing my accuracy and health mid map won't help anything unless I'm aiming for really high scores and reset often. I'll admit I'm still pretty new and am scrub tier, though. After all, if I play poorly I will die. If I don't I'll survive. Seeing how close I am won't make a difference. Kinda same idea with accuracy. I can get a feel for how my timing is just by seeing the scores as I play. After that the % doesn't really matter until the end

Overall, I see no real reason to leave that stuff on and add to the distractions. For me, all I want to see is the notes, that's it.

I personally do use the extra information. When I play, there can be two different scenarios. When I'm trying my best to set a good score for ranking, I forget everything but notes. Even if the acc or health bar is in my screen, I just don't pay them any attention. However, when I'm practicing, I use both acc and health bar to identify my weaknesses. I could make a very long story about this, but in short, I feel like I can't really assess my performance per note anymore, so I partially rely on the health bar in the corner of my eye for individual patterns. The amount it goes down gives (imperfect) information on how I played the pattern. The accuracy gives me indication on how I performed on certain segments if it's so intensive I don't even see the health bar anymore. This helps me identify the cause of a high/low score. What segment was responsible, how can I practice to get better? And as the acc is in the corner of the screen, I don't see it if I don't think about it, so it doesn't distract at all. Btw, this is from a mania perspective. For standard the health bar is in a different location, so that part doesn't really hold up. The accuracy part was about the same I think. I've noticed I fool myself in some patterns, thinking I did better than I actually did, or the other way around. Accuracy also helps in identifying whether you fooled yourself or not. (I actually estimate my own accuracy during playing, and then check it, when I have the time). But this story is way too long. I still think you should just do what you're comfortable with. Sorry I got carried away.

For feedback on accuracy, I use the error bar at the bottom. It gives me a pretty good idea of things like early/late consistency as well as overall consistency on patters. I know myself well enough to know that if I'm early, I'm trying to predict things and failing (or the offset is just wrong) whereas if I'm late, I've probably got reading issues (or the offset's wrong). I use hitsounds, and I use the physical feel of playing stuff as well. I might not know how well I'm hitting a certain pattern in say a 7 star map where I'm just focused on surviving the same way I can on say playing for accuracy on a 4 star song, but I have a pretty strong sense of how I'm doing compared to other plays. I'm not saying I can predict whether or not I'll beat a score of it's close, but if I'm doing better enough for say ~20k score improvement, I usually know I'm going to beat my old score, even without any information about how I'm doing other than the feeling and the error bar.

Just came here to post this: I decided to do some LN dan course, as I hadn't for the last few weeks (?) The improvement is real. I passed dan 3, with a full 2% higher acc than before. Things even seemed slow in the first two songs, which hasn't happened before. And for dan 4, it's just 1% off until passing. But I couldn't get the acc up at all in the last 2 songs, so I really have to get better at everything before actually passing it. Unfortunately I didn't get an A for dan 5, that would've been amazing. I was 1.5% short.

None of the parts were really good, but this feels like such a milestone I couldn't resist. Thanks to Cyro for actually capturing the video <3 My laptop is too bad to capture it this quality, which is actually better than how osu looks when I play it. Btw, I have no clue why the screen turns red when I almost died. I don't think I've ever seen that before, although I'm not sure. It definitely wasn't there when I played this map.

I haven't tried the latter. It's difficulty is quite a bit higher than what I'm generally comfortable with. When things feel good, I might give it a try.

Overall I'd say Hoshizora is more like a low 7.

Today didn't feel too great, but I still made some progress in extra time I had today. Notable score below. The accuracy is *finally* higher than your acc in the youtube video of 4.5 years ago, lmao. A pass was close, but still beyond my reach. At least I actually read what's happening now, even in the harder parts. 17va really is becoming my favourite mapper. Almost everything is interesting in some way. It's just so hard :')

BTW I have like 3 or 4 different versions of that map from different times 17va deleted/changed it lol.

His LN patterns feel organized, and well thought out, even if they are sometimes awkward or weird. kimgod_ssi's LNs on the other hand feel extremely messy, although still fun to play. BTW I have like 3 or 4 different versions of that map from different times 17va deleted/changed it lol. I have barely any kimgod_ssi maps, I think F**king machine and one other. Ill definitely check it out. This weekend has been bad, with one exception: another map on the Bobbias' video checklist. (I know nofail was on, but it would've been a pass..)

I think this might be officially the worst pass ever achieved in mania, excluding hp0 passes. That score looks like I should have had nofail on.

I only got to 25% (and didnt see the rest), and quit because of, well, concentration loss because I couldn't read fast enough. I don't really play those inverse types a lot. Didn't see your edit until now (i only get 'active thread' notifications for new posts). Sorry that I keep coming back to the same songs, but I did it! Pass! Also, this map used to be a big milestone for me for getting into 5 star territory, even uploading an A on youtube. Now it feels easy, with my definition of easy being not needing effort to get an S. There are only two streamy parts left where I'm not comfortable. To me, this really shows improvement.

Just out of curiosity, do you guys ever do group games? Also looks like you don't play standard Osu though. I have 0 experience with other game modes.

There probably hasn't been a TL mp room in several years now I think. There are too few people here these days and the levels are too far apart. The main posters currently are Cyro, who plays standard, and Bobbias and I, who play mania. I can also still play taiko, although I'm a bit rusty. I have played standard at quite a decent level for the time, which was probably around 2014/2015. If you want I can join you for some mp games, but my muscle memory is completely gone, so it will take some time to get used to.
