Considering I got D ranks on 4key maps when I started playing two days ago, I'm quite proud of my progress xD ![[image loading]](http://ha.ppy.sh/ss/713)
Where do you get that?

Yeah, see peppy's not getting a cent of my money, so unless you've got some way to force it to let me in....
EDIT: If I'm bored enough, I might see if I can force it to let me in by dissembling it...
EDIT2: bored enough for now. Working on decompiling and deobfuscating... never reverse engineered C# before, this could be fun.
EDIT3: Far less fun than expected. obfuscated code...

Wow trying to get PP as someone that can only barely rank in the top 500 in most maps is suffering. I lose PP as fast as i gain it ;-;

Peppy really knows how to make games less fun. Like...rank was poorly designed before, but it lent itself to playing a bunch of maps and wanting to play as many ranked maps as possible, now the only way to feel built-in satisfaction is to play the same map until you get an amazing score, and with this game being centered around combos that means perfection. Not a good combination for a fun gameplay mechanic.
Does it stop you from being self motivated to play fun maps and get better? No. But if every game relied on the perfect player archetype the entire industry would be even more shit than it already is.
All of these changes are really making me not want to play anymore. Its not like I've seriously played in the last 3 months anyway....

Hi sooo, I'm certainly worse than 99% of the TL guys who play Osu! I've basically exclusively been playing the game only for challenging and fun beatmaps and disregarding perfection entirely ( sub 60% accuracy now ;-; ). If I were to say, 'at the moment I'm really digging maps by val0108', would you be able to give me suggestions for similar beatmaps? What might they be?
|
If I can figure out how to hack osu, I'm seriously considering releasing a hacked version that won't force update, have supporter features (if possible) and doesn't include some of the bullshit changes peppy intends to add so people have options when he begins to force osz2 and re-downloading deleted song elements and such.

Pretty much any approval map because they're almost all death maps like val's

I'd have mentioned wcx too... And not all approval maps are hard, some are just long, because the rules are dumb.
Also, my decompiled source code is pretty close to workable. Only a few errors to resolve. No idea how long it'll take to get to a point where I know enough to actually resolve them.
Right now I'm focusing on figuring out as much as I can by renaming things so I can figure out what is what and what does what. I've found part of the main section that controls what "screen" you are in (playing the game, song selection, options pages, etc.) I found most of the options, which is a great place to start finding out what some stuff does.
The problem with decompiled source code is that you get something that looks like:
class3.class5_0.method_24(Color.White, 100); class3.class5_0.class13_1 = null; class3.bool_0 = false; class3.class7_0.method_24(Color.Black, 20);
It's a slow process of learning piece by piece what things are.

Haha I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, though i managed to keep my acc around 80% XD. Anyways, my favorite 'hard' mappers are usually by galvenize, Lesjuh, rickyboi, Dokolp, Starrodkirby etc.
Val has a really unique mapping style...but out of those Lesjuh or rickyboi is probably closest to val's (focus on big, fun sliders and lots of wide 1/4 note spacing).

Nice! I'll definitely check these mappers out. I also learned shortly after posting that if I just search up the creators of the maps I enjoy that they tend to have favorites of their own which align with the same sentiments. And here I was starting to worry that I was running out of novelty and that I'd actually have to hunker down and learn to play properly~

NatsumeRin maps somewhat similar to val, at least on high BPM songs (like 200+)

Any ideas on how to fix it?
Problems still occuring, did 1 song, spun my mouse round the spinner perfectly fine clicked the spinner and then suddenly it goes retarded and doesn't complete the circles.
Tried another song straight after and the spinner worked perfectly
Any ideas? :/

Shake your mouse left-to right vigorously, then release it and watch the cursor. If you see the cursor drifting, then it's probably your mouse that's bad and needs to be upgraded.

Did you disable pointer accelleration in the windows settings? Because accelleration + quick spinning = random-ass movements

The nightcore mod almost feels like cheating. It's just like doubletime except there's a clapping noise in the background that's timed exactly with the beat. Switching from doubletime to nightcore on this map instantly improved my accuracy by like 2%.
|
Ya, that was first thing I thought when I played nightcore. Makes the song easier, by making the beat stronger. Should be a 10 or 11% bonus rather than 12, so true DT still better.
|
Nightcore did nothing for me, other than piss me the fuck off, because nightcore is an abomination "subgenre" that should never have existed in the first place. I'd rather listen to 12 hours of eurodance garbage than 2 hours of nightcore. Yeah. I. Hate. Nightcore. I also don't need some external sound to keep me on time (though that's probably got something to do with having played tons for other music games in the past).
When I play stepmania, I hit the keys rather loudly, and can actually use that to tap out the rhythm the way the claps are supposed to help, except that I can actually hear when I'm off time doing that.
|
What's the point of playing singletap vs alternating? I've always alternated on everything no matter what, but my high ranking friends all say that they 'always 1key everything up to X bpm...' etc.
Does it help accuracy or something? or is it just for fun? ive never even thought about trying to 1key before lol so this is new to me.
