Yeah, that's the case most of the time, but sometimes you can have a B or A and around an 85% accuracy, and still manage to get an X.

I hate when the drain rate is so high that if you're low at the start of a spinner, you lose right as the spinner ends.

I thought it was based off of how well you hit the notes. There were songs where I hit all the notes and still got the X. My bar wasn't in the "caution" level at all. I know in EBA game it's based off of the bar, but in OSU I've found that it appears more based on how well you hit the notes. Maybe no one notices it like this because naturally if u can play the song you're hitting perfects anyways? I could be absolutely wrong, maybe it's even a user setting. I just know I've got X with a high bar.

I'm so addicted to Whip the Blip's hardest difficulty right now...

It's more the mapper's fault than Osu as a program, since you can easily change the drain rate in the editor. Then again I guess that's why it's an insane difficulty.

I'm almost certain it's whether or not you are in the warning.

And yeah, dying mid spinner/mid slider SUCKS, but that has nothing to do with the game design really, it's just the map (and you were almost certainly near-dead anyway). It's just when you're on the final spinner, then die... arrrgh.

Dying mid spin on the spinner is about as frustrating as dieing during a pause in the music... like it's not a rest spot just a slow part in the music. Even though you hit all the notes perfectly, just because they're so spaced out takes away half the bar.
