I've noticed I'm particularly bad about slider breaking my combos with a tablet >_< edit: map is "pending" - this screenshot is the second clear I played of the song
edit2: since you guys on the flashlight subject- here are 2 of me from last year when I was going for the top score on Girls' Generation - Be Happy [hard] HD HR FL-- also have a couple with DT instead of FL and they are not nearly as good...
Stupid loss of combo though - got past the point where I otherwise ALWAYS lose my combo (the 4 close-together streams in the middle), got too happy that I held it past that point, lost concentration, and dropped the combo shortly thereafter ._. Oh well, S rank! :D
Hey guys, I played Osu for a very long time and have played Night of Knight (DJPop's Extra Stage) over 1000 times but still can't even beat it. I've had some decent attempts and came pretty close a few times, but 90% of the time it just feels like my two pressing fingers can't keep up with the pace of the song. They start to hurt and tire out after just a few attempts at the song. It's tough for me to even get past the intro. I have successfully gotten past the intro many times and the subsequent sections, but by 60-70% of the song, my fingers tire out and I just can't keep up. Then I'll just fuck up the intro again the following attempts because my fingers are exhausted and have to take a break before trying again, only to have my fingers completely exhausted after just another few attempts.
It's not that I can't follow or see the notes. It just feels physically impossible for my fingers to tap that fast for that long, and often my index and/or ring fingers just stop moving even though my brain knows that I'm still supposed to be tapping.
Has anyone else come across a similar problem? I know that the sad truth is simply that I've reached my skill ceiling in the game and just don't have the natural ability to improve any further (remember: I've attempted NoK over 1000 times, have a total playcount of 13k, and beaten other similarly difficult songs that aren't as fast; so don't tell me I need more practice lol), but it'd be interesting to know if anyone else has been through the same thing, and if they managed to find a way to overcome it. I have a friend who's played only about half as much as I have, and managed to FC NoK within 100~ or so attempts, so I've come to accept the fact that some people are just better at the game than others, and I belong to the group of people who aren't.
I'm just kind of disappointed that the factor that's limiting my progress is the fact that my fingers can't physically keep up with the notes, as opposed to my brain/eyes not being able to follow the incoming notes, or me not being able to move the mouse/cursor to each note accurately.
... I guess this post was also just kind of to vent out some frustration >_>

Thanks for hearing me out!
That map is pure shit btw, horrible bad map.
I find my click speed varies depending on the song. Can you pass this: http://osu.ppy.sh/b/47462 or http://osu.ppy.sh/b/107837 I Cant really stream faster than like 165ish and I have probably 20k playcount on streamy maps so :l

Don't worry, there are a ton of maps that are just impossible for my fingers to do. Once the song gets past 185/190 bpm, the streams are straight up too fast no matter what I do. Below that I hate streaming still because it's so tiring.
And I used to have problems with my fingers starting to hurt after only a few minutes on my old keyboard. (was rubber switches, just terrible) Got a mechanical one and it's much easier on my fingers. (by much easier i mean no pain ever, and takes longer to tire my fingers on)

I got till like 99% of the 2nd map (Xi - Halcyon) after 3-4 tries but fucked up at the last long stream. The song's just SOO long! Seems about right tho, long streams (esp. in long songs) have always been a problem for me. My fingers have terrible endurance for that sort of thing. I also got progressively worse after every stream in the map, though my fingers could still kinda keep up with most of the short streams. Also my left hand is numb now lol. Still, I impressed the fuck out of myself I was able to keep up with such a seemingly difficult map, even after having not played the game for so long. My accuracy was shit, though. Like 75% or something. Mainly due to failing at most of the streams.
I should probably add that I haven't played Osu actively for a long time now, I kind of gave up (maybe a year ago?) on the game when I realized my fingers were physically incapable of keeping up with a number of songs (not after attempting the fuck out of so many of them, of course!). Just had the sudden urge to play it again today, only to be quickly reminded why I quit in the first place. Still a great game, of course; I just don't find any joy in playing a game where I can't seem to improve any further. I was mainly posting here to try and get rid of the haunting that is over 1000 unsuccessful attempts at beating NoK lol. (I promised my friend I'd beat it one day, but never did manage to do it, hence why I'm constantly haunted by it =P)
Thanks though for the reassuring words, guys. I feel a little less bad about myself now that I know I'm kind of not alone. I know I'm still terrible at the game, but definitely less than I thought I was!
Holy fuckballs, finally passed this map. Only took me 60 tries.
Usually never play anything over 180bpm, so 230 was a stretch. I feel like i really improved a lot in a few areas by getting through this one. Maybe someday I'll try it without nofail on. Maybe.
