how do you lose a tengu undocking in jita? the dock radius is such that its impossible to die unless you get ganked while afking.

in case some people here didnt know, youre INVULNERABLE (actually untargetable) for the first 30 seconds after undocking if you dont do anything (like stop a ship, or align). if youre undocking from a station with a huge dock range (like the jita tradehub station, who's dock radius is 36 km from the station icon) and you see hostiles waiting for you, just let your ship DRIFT OUT after undocking and wait for 30 seconds for your session change timer to run out, so you can redock. to see your session change timer you can enable it under general settings. if you dont know what a session change timer is or what it does, im afraid i cant help you :p

There weren't any hostiles. Only people covertly scanning him. Which means that to make your advice accurate, you've gotta replace "hostiles" with "the normal crowd at 4-4" which means he'd be redocking and reundocking all day, which makes no sense.

The actual solution is to make a safe spot 400km away from 4-4, aligned with the jita undock vector.

just warp at 50 to the station thats aligned to the undock. and if there arent any hostiles, how the hell did they manage to suicide gank him? did they have 50 k alpha?

I apologize for my nubbishness, but I'd assume they killed the hauler moving the Tengu around right?

Does this sort of stuff happen often? Suicide Ganks of ships carrying valuable cargo to and from Jita? How are they able to salvage it even?

You have guys that do the killing and get CONCORDed and then you have guys that are waiting nearby to loot and salvage.

Ahh, so the looting/salvage just gives them kill-rights to you. I forgot it doesn't concord them too...

Hmm... a little borken, but I won't need worry about it for quite awhile I guess.

Salvaging does not get you concorded nor does it give you kill rights on the salvager.

Edit: I suppose suicide ganks happen, but its never happened to me because I make it a habit to always use an instant warp out of station hubs (since there's usually a War Target camping there). TBH though, most likely his hauler came out he started aligning and since haulers have ~9 seconds align, someone in a BS with sebos, passive targetting mod, cargo scanner scanned him and saw he had decent cargo and alphaed him.

Edit 2: Oh yeah, if you want to join TL and have logi V trained and will fly logis, you get insta invite into corp!

OK I did my homework already. I'm making my safespots now.

I've known about safespots and stuff for a while like bookmarking a spot to warp to and be in sniping range of the deck and safespots to hide from ganks in low sec but I never thought of using one to instawarp after undocking.

I used to have a decent amount of bookmarks on my other character but I've been putting it off on this one along with tweaking my overview. I should probably get to both quick.

EVE-U had an awesome guide on safespots that even had some sick guidelines to naming them but I don't think I will be able to find it in the forums. I'll give it a shot.

what pahndah said basically, the suicide ganks happen but not to people who take precautions. i think i was moving 2bil of salvage every other day for 2 months out of jita in a t1 hauler and i never had problems (though i deserve them, for using a t1 hauler)
