I am planning on joining EVE Online, but I wanted some advice first about races. I plan to PvP with enough carebearing to get enough money for PLEXes, as well as a little extra for ships/fittings, etc. I know Caldari have the best PvE ships, and the Minmattar have good PvP ships, and I want to fly both. My question is, what race to choose first? Should I go Caldari and train up to Minmattar, or the other way around?

Minny first, so you have Rifters for early PvP. Or blitz to basic drake skills for carebearing as Caldari, then divert to minny. Try using Evemon to put together a training queue each way and see what will be more effective maybe?

I will be writing a guide on first ships to go for but in a nutshell you should start with either minmatar or caldari, or even who you find to be the most handsome. It doesn't matter. The best any of them will do is save you 2-3 hours on your overall train.

I'm missioning in my mach, doing some random mission with 2 pockets. A rifter warps in and can flips me. I check his corp out, he's part of TEARS, a well known ninja can baiting whatever corp, that basically baits stupid missioners and kills their expensive ships.

Kwark goads me into taking the shot (and I'm a little drunk with tiredness) so I prepare by getting trasnversal down, abandoning all wrecks in the mission so he can't extend the timer after this, and align to a random celestial. I take the shot, he takes 30% damage, click the warp button, and somehow in the .5 seconds between the two he's managed to get the point in. One hell of a reaction time.

So I'm stuck with a rifter under my guns keeping me pointed with his backup definitely on the way. Kwark and co start getting making 7 jumps in scimi's to help me out. The rifter backup arrives with a guardian, a merlin, a myrm. None of the newcomers can aggress me so I continue burning, easily tanking the rifter. However he's attacking my drones so I am unable to keep them on him for much longer than 2 seconds. Things reach a standoff with the rifter unable to kill me and me unable to kill the rifter (the guardian is repping + cap transfering on him).

Kwark hatches a plan.

I continue burning away from the mission warp in and sure enough, an orca arrives 400km away from where I am now. TEARS are well known for switching ships using their orca, switching their previous rifter for a big ship. However being 400km away and increasing, I am safe from that tactic.

But I'm still stuck with this rifter that will kill my drones in a mexican standoff. Kwark and tofu arrive in their scimi's and burn the 400km to where I am, and I release my drones and put them on the rifter. The scimi's keep my drones alive so the rifter is unable to kill them. I shoot at the guardian and quickly force him off the field (now he can switch ships and bring it to try and kill me but we're a good 600-700km off the warpin so he'd take forever to reach me anyway).

So now we have my drones on this rifter and he can't kill them because the scimi's are keeping them up. The rifter slowly takes shield damage, eventually reaches armor and warps off in 50% structure. I warp off and dock up for the night after this 15-30 minute endeaver :<

Props to Kwark for an amazing plan (even if he was the one that goaded me into shooting the ninja in the first place) and even the ninjas were congratulatory on well it worked out for us.

Probably the first and last time I risk my mach for this sort of shit, but was well worth it. :D

TEST and their allys are abandoning the NC to die to the russians. TEST will effectively reset the north and the entire CFC will as well other then the goons and wildly inappropriate. Their also going to take over the moons that NC alliances own that are in their space.

I never thought In my life I'd live to see the north burn. I smile brightly tonight.

What does resetting allies mean I dont get it I lived in the north for 2-3 months it got boring fast. Could someone elaborate?

From what I understand, a 'reset' means that an entity which was blue is no longer blue and has been set back to neuteral. There generally is not an open campaign against said entity but its more of a "we are no longer going to have anything to do with you" thing. So basically TEST is no longer going to assist the NC in the current NC vs DRF war.
