My friend from my old semi-pro CS 1.6 days has been practicing hardcore for that event, he's from philly and wants to play SSF4 competitively now so yeah, I can't wait for that event. I always love when Spooky streams, and there'll be some sick competition there.
Post-patch... K' and Raiden are probably still the two best characters in KoFXIII. I'd put K' ahead of Raiden since the nerf kinda hurts but not really. Dropkick is still ridiculous, you just need to wait like 4 more seconds so block more I guess. He does a ton of damage with just punch buttons anyways, c.AxN into EX tackle etc., still has grab super, etc. XIII is "balanced" enough to play most characters in that the top 10 or so have dumb BS and there aren't that many characters to begin with, so who cares.
Billy and Athena got nerfed in 2k2UM. K' got major buffs in UM and ends up as the best character hurrr. K/Kasumi/Nameless are S rank in that game. If you are playing regular 2k2 then Athena/Billy/Choi aka ABC aren't necessarily the top 3 but they are the easiest of the top. Kim is also incredibly easy and very strong. Athena with dumb normals and psychoballs and easy damage, Billy with dumb normals that reach half screen + a DP + easy damage/pressure, Choi with easy meter building + runaway in one move and also you can jump around and do ambiguous crossups with no effort at all then confirm into super.
yay my lost package from lizardlick finally came through (2 weeks late) ended up getting the semitsu spring and a circle gate. Gonna try and install today. Time to watch videos and read guides.
just woke up got like 4 hrs of sleep. reserving this post for my experience at WB. by far the best tournament i've been to. every game i entered and watched i saw some ridiculous fucking shit from ST to MVC3 and even SF4 and more.
sick tournament all in all. did decent in sf4 teams despite the fact i haven't played since late jan. (and i only used yun/evil ryu then). faced team maryland/steve h. dude landed a crossup j.RH in the corner with sagat, comboed and killed me after a close round. everyeone watching literally yelled "WAT DA FAWK" when it crossed up. that match we had the entire state of maryland shit-talking us. after 3 random/bad teams we then get ocv'd by singaporean elf spore. SSF4 team matches were crazy. aquasilk's gief is legit. the moment when sanford AA u1 on gief and then aquasilk begins shouting "WATCH THIS" and u2'd sagat's airborne knee was lol. GS to wolfkrone in singles, this win has been overdue for him.
3s teams was a ton of fun. had a lil nice comeback moment vs tinshi's chun from NYC when i was down to pixels. he had super but didn't use it, instead tried to c.mk into hosanshu and i parried both and urien corner aegis combo into win. i know i know doesn't sound awesome and he would've won if he just super'd but it felt great :D. got bumped by mrquote's makoto(who was on fire, basically only losing to justin) and this ken from NJ who's name escapes me.
and lastly my friend entered me in ST. had the OG ST cab so i was like w/e. have newfound respect for that shit and will prolly play it a bit on ggpo and w/e. sucks having to play vs. friends in tournament. started off with ken and got beat 1st match since he touched me once with dictator twice. 2nd match i switch and zone out with dee jay. 3rd match he goes chun and beats me with tick throw crap. i wish i knew the game more in-depth and how to counter certain setups and characters. like in that situation, i'm not even sure what d.jay can do except just tech the throw. i swore i would hold u/b but she'd put me in blockstun with s.MP into throw or knock me down with c.RH. he seems to cover the air easily with s.MP, s.RH, and upkicks, has some fast lows/pokes and a nasty crossup. but i guess -djay is one of those chracters with no real good reliable get off me moves. any1 who plays ST, some tips would be greatly appreciated also speaking with damdai, jeron and my friends, i can see now why generally most ppl still ST>HDR. oh and damdai took ST with t.hawk. saw him using O.Ken in casuals and i forgot to ask what are the differences between O. Ken and regular Ken.
my mvc3 thoughts in the mvc3 thread. the RL ken 3s taunt moment was HYPE, i almost lost my voice. also nice to meet you again bill307 and hope you had a blast and a safe trip back yo come back to teamliquid bill (or the FG thread at least)

Ultra has priority over EX chickenwing is bullshit. How the fuck is Fei Long supposed to fight him lol.
oh so O. ken has better DP, slow jab FB/faster FP FB, and overall better normals. N. Ken has a super and knee bash. well as soon as i heard "better DP" i'm sold on O. Ken :p
So this is Hisoutensoku, Soku for short. It's a fighting game produced by Tasogare Frontier, the same group that made Eternal Fighter ZERO. It features a flight and graze system to add a different angle to the standard style of zoning. Also, the flight system allows for a more free X and Y axis movement as compared to the standard linear approach.

Wow! I haven't been that blown away with someone's play in a long time! DAMNNN GOOOOODDD
unno y but been playing some 98. feel weird playing 98 then 02 with some spanish-speaking ppl from kpop/tl website. goro 's d/f C so retardly good in 98. his AA d/fC into command roll earthquake punch/dp A doesn't work in 02. pretty fun though still. kim is all kinds of easy/big damage and iori is iori. i don't see how kula is really good though but i don't know shit bout kof anyway :/ wanna try may lee but spending more time playing mvc3/3s/ST atm. but kof's something new/different for me so meh.
tbh i feel like when i stop mvc3 i see myself going back to good ol 2 again happily. learning teh top tiers and how to actually really really learn how to properly play mvc2 (compared to mashing as a kid and picking spiderman/ryu/hayato) was some of the funnest shit ever. not having nearly as much fun playing mvc3, but everyone plays it so there's always decent competition.
mini rant/random post
edit: and lol while playing some offline casuals today me and my friend suddenly imagined how awesome a more HP phoenix would be like in mvc2
