Very few games, graphics aren't significantly improved, outrageously expensive, and it's even missing the disc drive and the console stand... so the only reasons I could think of to buy the PS5 Pro would be: 1. If you have too much money and want to donate some to Sony as charity; 2. If you're in the market for a new paperweight.
Basically this. It might serve competitive players but I'd think they'd just play on PC...so yeah, the market is extremely thin for those looking to buy this. I've had the PS5 since pre-orders opened and I don't think it's reached anywhere near what it's capable of.
The very few games are slightly misleading. There are a lot of games, but very few first party/exclusive. A lot of timed exclusives or PC/PS5 launch titles. But there are games to be found on PS5. Depends on what you want to play.
I have more PS5 games than Switch games (though it's very close), so lack of games is not an issue. Was just wondering who the target audience is here. Doesn't look like I have any reason to upgrade to a Pro version.

If you don't have the basic model then getting the pro without disc player for people looking to play the more demanding titles makes sense. Extra FPS is very nice. If you play a lot of titles (thus can use the value of a disc player) or already have a basic model I don't see why you would get it.

I think they promised a few more frames than regular PS5 but still no 4k60. With this kind of money you are very close to having a PC which actually can 4K60 though
My reaction to the idea of a PS5 Pro is reasonably well documented in this thread, I just didn't know what the purpose of a mid-gen upgrade would be for a console that's already the most powerful. I get why people are excited by the idea though, I just personally didn't think it was necessary. To see Sony try to actually do it, it feels just as forced as I feared it would be. It feels like the biggest thing the PS5 Pro does is formally distance itself from physical media, something that doesn't have anything to do with its performance in games. Not a great impression as far as I'm concerned.
I guess I've always struggled to understand mid-gen console upgrades like this anyway. I'm very spoiled by the way Nintendo has handled it. Nintendo doesn't do mid-gen console upgrades, they do mid-gen handheld upgrades. Which makes a lot more sense, because there is so much more that can be innovated upon in the handheld formula. We went from monochrome to colored screens, from AA batteries to rechargeable, to backlit screens, larger screens, nicer buttons, better battery life, etc. It always made complete sense when we got a mid-gen handheld upgrade, because there are endless quality of life improvements that can always be made.
For a console, though? The PS5 already runs all PS5 games. I personally choose performance mode for all my games and move on, but is that really the extent of the PS5 Pro, is now you can have the shinier graphics and still have good framerate? I never had problems with how Elden Ring looks on performance mode. I dunno. Ironically, a great selling point for the PS5 Pro could've been that it has complete backwards compatibility with every PlayStation game. But that rewards people with physical media, and that doesn't seem like something they want to do anymore. So I'm not sure what the quality of life upgrade is here.
There are more but these stood out to me that I think a lot of us would be interested in. You already know I can't wait for Stellar Blade and Ghost of Yotai.
I am 100% not getting one but it makes sense to me. Initial console always have a limited titles. Mid cycle console release with a larger library and players can either go buy cheaper console or the pro model.
