I think you meant "Ike seems like Ryoma, since he has a ranged counter" but he interpreted it like "Ike seems like Ryoma, but he also gets a ranged counter".
I'm glad I've been sitting on orbs during most of these hero battle focuses because new stuff is a bit more interesting than just filling in the gaps.

"Like a ryoma with ranged counter" implies he is similar to ryoma in all things AND he has something ryoma does not: ranged counter, when in actuality that's the one similarity between them we actually know of.

New banner up. I pulled like 200 orbs worth and got 5* Lucina, Linde, Soren, and Titania. Didn't pull a single Ike =(. Will have to try before the banner is gone to get one, he is one of the characters I really want.

Re-installed game to pull Ike. Had 240 orbs, the third red summon was Ike. Yay.
Uninstalled again until Zihark comes out.

My friend just pulled him first try without even knowing who he is.

I did the $75 140 orb purchase and managed to pull one Ike from one of my last sets of orbs after only trying to pull reds. I'm pretty sure mine is -atk/+health, but whatever I'm still happy. Too bad the rest of my red pulls were just 3* and 4* trash, but at least some were acceptable skill inheritance fodder.

I pulled the same Ike, -atk +hp but im happy, i recieve a bunch of red units i didnt have before, 2 4star marths, cedea and longqu. Overall it took 9 summons, so im quite pleased.

Shiida isn't that fantastic, but has some utility on flier squads. Lonqu has vantage which is an excellent skill to transfer over. Marth is pretty good as well (either for hone speed, or for nino based teams)

Caeda is pretty trash in my experience, but really good for skill inheritance. Her weapon is anti-armor, but she has such a low attack stat that she won't punch through armored unit's high def and +6 speed on attack is worthless because of how slow armored units generally are (you should already double them). Without inheriting on her she just hits like a wet noodle.
You could invest heavily into her, but you could just do that with Palla's much better stat spread.

No Ike yet, but I did pull Titania. Trying to decide if I should pull blues and reds (on the off-chance I get Linde or Effie or some other blue unit who isn't Nowi for arena) or just reds for Ike.

None of my reds feel ridiculously OP so maybe Ike will fill that gap. At the same time, Marth and Selena are both good enough to kill what they need to kill.

Don't pull blues without a banner. You may as well wait a week or two and pull when a blue focus comes up.

FE Echoes first week JP sales are the worst since Tellius. Even Shadow Dragon and New Mystery had higher sales, and they're half of Awakening/Fates.
Seems like Japanese fans aren't enthusiastic about the idea of a Gaiden remake either, in spite of Famitsu's glowing review.

What's the verdict on Ike for those who have him? FE wiki gives him S+ already, seems a little premature? Distance counter is damn good though so I dunno.

Mine has bad iv's and still is crusing through all the training maps, he lvls up super fast due to the built in distance counter, and is really tanky. I could definitely see him being really strong with the right SI. (but ill wait for someone else to work that out)

Could it be what I mentioned earlier about not wanting yet another FE on 3DS? I kind of expected FE Echoes to not have as much success, but maybe I'm right for the wrong reasons.
At this point, I think a lot of people are waiting to throw money at Nintendo for a FE on Switch. Maybe less so remakes on 3DS...
Maybe it was also because of the more hardcore take on the game.
It's funny because I think they might have sold way more if they also released Echoes on Switch at the same time, with no change over the 3DS version. "No change" though isn't that easy, with the 2 screens and all.

I feel like that's mostly a you thing. It's probably related more to it being a remake of maybe the weirdest entry in the series and not having waifu emblem. New fans love their dating sim aspects and this probably proved to IS that they need it, unless they were expecting kinda meh sales.

Yeah you're probably right. The Fire Emblem Heroes subreddit has recently passed in subs number the Fire Emblem subreddit, and I think FEH is quite indicative of the more recent audience of this series. About half of the messages in there are all about waifus and related so-called memes.
