oh well i wasn't bothered. i watched it a little. it didn't stand out too much for me, of course i watched it on youtube already a few times, my biggest take from that was the graphics weren't very "wow", the reactor looked pretty barren and not drawn up to be fascinating like the original artwork led you to feel. didn't feel any much different from watching the demo for a short while. saw someone bust up some crates then kinda walked off got a photo with the buster. of course i wanted to hold it differently from everyone else. few photos of the music store. otherwise i spent most of the (short) day being lost wandering round the "19 halls" (more like 6 but big) for show girls and cosplayers to photograph. it closes at 6pm so i headed off about 5.30 super sleepy and edited a handful of photos until 10pm surprisingly there was a Dota section with 2 teams or something playing with a caster and screen in the middle sorry these are screenshots , ill make the jpgs another time. there's loads more of random girls but these are the ff7 ones + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

since , when fighting, you lock on to an enemy, it would be possible for them to implement a simple fighting game style interaction instead of jamming x x x x x to attack you can have attacks like in Soul Blade (best fighting game ever) where you make combos with all buttons i'm thinking this while watching the Tifa video of course it only matters if the enemies can block (in Soul Blade you can block up or down) it would make each character play like a fighting game character Soul Blade doesn't have a massive amount of moves, the longest regular combo is 4 buttons, but it still has circle forward etc moves and every character feels different (especially due to weapon speeds) AND it's REALLY fun too because you can block every attack if you get good because animations are slow-moving enough to memorise over time (unlike Soul Calibur where i had no idea wtf was going on the 1 time i played lol) anyway, i'm just saying i think it would be awesome if the characters really played differently to each other, and adopting a Soul Blade style fighting game mechanic instead of mashing X would easily allow this (maybe barret can hold X to shoot but needs to recharge and at that time you jump into melee range with some 2- or 4-button combos) hard part is making it so that every enemy has blockable attacks (either block centre or block down) and that every enemy can block too (with difficulty being their percentage chance to block each attack/combo) even cooler would be to then make Limits require a combo input (same as Soul Blade does - each character has a 10-button combo when their limit guage fills up, you jam the 10 buttons quickly and character does the limit attack) Soul Blade also gets around inifinite blocking by giving each weapon a block value until you can't block anymore (which , as well as weapon weight/speed and weapon dmg, gives weapons/characters even more flavor) tldr: basically FF7R should use Soul Blade's combat system since you lock onto 1 enemy and jam x to attack anyway. add simple combos , and a simple middle/down blocking system, then you can give characters speed and blocking limitation and a lot more flavor. make Limits require an input combo also make Soul Blade's intro the intro to FF7R coz it looks like they butchered the intro and Soul Blade has the best intro ever lol problem is the vast amount of work (mostly animations) to make a fighting game system this is coming from someone who hasn't played Kingdom Hearts or the remake yet coz they said the queue was finished at 11am <- salt

mashing x is required as far as i know i think the least input you can do is switching to barret and just holding x the entire time to shoot

Either way, it really doesn't matter because acting like those systems are equivalent in impact because they aren't 100% the same as the original is silly.

There's a difference between updating the combat to keep up with modern times while at the same time preserving a lot of the old feel and just turning the entire thing on its head.

i'm not 4 fucking years old oh nice i staggered the enemy nice nice not by the way soul blade combat system is epic whilst being incredibly simple it works because you can easily learn from the clear animations and the fact that the longest combo is only 4 buttons whether to block medium or low makes it super satisfying but also you can destroy your opponent if you're good enough (i went 105 wins on survival mode after switching it off) it's not hard but it's not easy either you learn it naturally rather than having to study and memorise combos and animations and of course at the same time you'd have to manage HP, MP, Weapon Gauge (how much you can block), and account for individual characteristics, etc to perform a limit in soul blade you touch xyz together which performs the first half of the limit, then a ~6 button combo to perform the 2nd half of it (some very easy some very hard) like omnislash would be zyx then up down left right full-circle then BAM you're away! goddamn soul blade is a good game

i was drinking so i wrote a bunch of shit lol the 1 fear i have is they elongate everything by making horrible level design and lengthy battles aka ff13 (liked it a lot, even played with the eng voice acting, but quit it after about 10-15 hours because couldn't stand the elongated level and combat design) the fact that they added stagger is a concern for me because of this
