Tips: Do not play Agent Coyle, immovable / Agent Coyle, Firestarter / Skraar as commanders or other Cards that do have haste, vigilante or charge, as you can play them as a surprise directly from you hand. Good Commanders are Xhi, who honors the dead / Caretaker of the young / Meditating monk as their abilities trigger, can be used without putting them into play.
26.10.2013(external Beta 0.9301)Dod, is short for Descendents of the dragon. 25.10.2013(external Beta 0.9301)Agent Coyle, immoveable and the great wall of Jinhai do not work together. 24.10.2013(external Beta 0.9301)Wealthy Nobles cost 10 moral if you lose them. The cards with the highest moral costs are Mega Unit 02, Hidden by clouds, Aberion the Hammer of dawn and Dragon of Summerflame with 15. 23.10.2013(external Beta 0.9301)If you need to scroll fast while browsing your deck with master varyus or browse a graveyard with lots of cards, you can "grab" the screen by holding the mouse pressed on empty space and just "pull" the screen. This also works on the main menu! 22.10.2013(external Beta 0.9301)If you have initiative and use a character card ability that transforms itself (like agent coyle), assasinate won't kill it. 21.10.2013(external Beta 0.9301)To see who goes first with his spells each turn watch the names on top of the screen, the one with initiative will turn green. 20.10.2013 (external Beta 0.9301) You can increase the chat window size ingame by draggin the grey button with the two triangles on the very left.
How to get into Beta: Disclaimer:The Invite system is changing from time to time. I try to keep the Thread up to date.

Activation codes last 24hours at the moment.
Here is how I suggest we handle that and hopefully all get happy.
To get invited:
Make an account on the games website.
Ask for invite in this Thread.
Get PM from some who can invite you.
Send pm with your email address to him/her.
Now activate your account with the code, you get send per email, on the game's website within 24 hours
Make sure to come back to this thread and invite other with the invites you don`t need!
To invite:
Check this Thread.
If you see someone wants an invite, sent him a pm.
Invite them as soon as possibe so they don`t go to waste.
TCG? Yupp. Tradeable.
How to get started?: Finish tutorial. Check this thread. Invite people. No, I am not saying that because this way I don`t have to make 10 more fake accounts, invite myself and each time invite 3 other persons. It is because If the people you invite, play a lot or use the cash shop you get boni ingame, helping you to complete your collection faster.
Now I am no expert at this game yet but this way seemed fun and fairly effective: Start playing the Campaign. You can play each campaign until Level 3, after that, you are asked to play with your own deck. Except for the Risen of Avarrach(undead), with whom you can finish all eight levels of their respective campaign. You get a starter Deck for that, you can try and go from there and finish the other campaigns. You will rise in level and get soulbound (non-tradeable) super-booster packs. At level 10 you should be able to start and experiment with deck making. If you can make a deck you like, buy non-soulbound super booster packs with the ingame currency you will have at that point. If you just did not get any useful cards you can go and buy a starter deck instead, but beware, not all of them are worth their moneyz.
Free(read Fair) to play?: Check out Erlaya's stream! After reaching number one on ladder he decided to play a new acc to top 50 ranked without spending a dime, to feel out how fair the payment model is.
Yes. Especially the soulbound packs get you lots of cards for your own decks fast, rest is cosmetics.
Booster Packs you unlock with ingame currency aren`t soulbound, allowing non-paying players to trade aswell. At the moment it takes a lot of time to get the right cards for the most crazy decks without paying. They plan to add a crafting system in the future that might will change that though!
How far am I behind when starting?: The game is still in beta, but just like in hearthstone there are lots of people that already have every card trice. But where hearthstone has the arena mode, Infinity wars has merged: Every player gets every card from his opponent plus all of his own, so both players have the same cards. Decks can hold up to 100 cards, if both have 100, you play with a 200 card deck. Insanly fun and quick, also a quick way to earn ingame cash, no payment needed.
Beta... The game is in beta. It is not super stable or polished, but insanely fun! Go check it out. Download might take forever, but the game only needs a little less than two gigabyte.
Game formats Normal, all cards allowed. Tournament, not yet implemented. Pauper, only common and uncommon cards allowed. Singles, each card only allowed once.
Ps: See you ingame, I am Ph4nt4S7 there.
Pps: Pm me if this post is missing something, like your infintiy wars stream!
Was wondering about the soulbound cards. Are they fully usable besides not being tradable ? I remember from mtg where you got the gold bordered cards for free then you couldnt play with them.
Well you need to activate an account you can make for free on their website with that key, now!^^ Sorry for all the stress didn`t know they changed the time so hard on that.

When you log in, or click the symbol between Play and Store on top of the game screen to get to the welcome screen, then in the menu in the middle of the screen on the left should be the master apprentices menu. Right under Apprentices is a recruit friends button.
Do you guys know the requirements to make a card a commander card ? I have some uniques like Aleta, immortal tinkerer which should be able to fit a commander spot but i cant it to work in the deck builder.
Everyone who got an invite pls follow Haruhi's description for invitings others. Especially important at the start to get the invite snowball rolling, so we can get everyone at TL an invite

Every Character Card can become a commander. The Deckbuilder is buggy though. You can't make a card a commander if it is already in your deck, you first have to remove the card from your deck, then add it as a commander.

ok thx, ill try to mess around.
I have 1 more invite to go, as i said pm me your email and pls invite others
Wow this seems pretty interesting! I really love the idea of digital trading card games but I have never found one with a payment model that wouldnt drive me completely insane. I think this might be it!
If anyone has a spare invite I would be very grateful
To invite someone you have to add his/her email address ingame. After that there is only a small time window (15 min) to accept said advice. This is done by opening the email you will recive, Copying the code, and using it on the developers website to activate you account.
So make an account there. I hope I can invite four more people at 20:00CEST, in 39minutes. You can start downloading the game meanwhile, it will take some time.
This is my friend's account who does not have time to play, he is cool with me using this. I am Ph4nt4S7 ingame if we should meet in battle btw :d
I am going to offer the other 1 invites at 23:00 CEST and wait 15 minutes for people to claim them, to ensure they don`t go to waste. Maybe someone else wants to offer at 21:00, 22:00. Good luck guys 'n gals.
I have 3 invites to give away. Please post below asking for an invite and then PM me your email. I'll only look for requests matching people below this post and give them to the first 3 active TL users.

Hehe yeah don't worry, I've read the whole thread before and my account was already created when I sent you the PM. It was just waiting for an activation code :D
So what kind of decks are you guys running? I got a couple good Genesis cards so Iv been using that faction but Im worried about how easy it can be to pick off my single big card, so im trying to think about ways to distribute that risk among more characters.

What have you guys had fun/success with?
I got a lot of good genisis cards aswell. I used to mix them with undead cards. Fear buys a lot of time when you build dragons, if you have the dragon project location card. I also like to use the contructor and melt all my artificial units onto one of those zombies that give you control of the units he kills. And wall of dead just buys more times for awesome dragons to finish^^.
Most success probably flaming dawn mixed with a tiny bit genisis. Vicious ransaker with "give him a jetpack" is just amazing, and melting artificial chars onto non artificials of course aswell. Also this deck is really fast and you get 150coins for every win.
In my last booster pack I just got the legendary agent coyle for genisis. Now i am pure genisis. Managed to use every single op card of genisis I had last game. The Mega unit 02, the Shield generator, the ion canon, the dragon project, looks and feels amazing when everything clicks.
I also like the chinese people with the green dragon.
Usually whenever I open 1 or 2 booster packs and get new cards I go play with them xD. I also draw a lot of inspiration from my enemies, even though I hate playing breeder myself, it is the build I seem unable to beat.
daaaang nice draws man! I got a agent coyle too but it was for flame dawn and I dont think that faction is really my style. Maybe I can trade it for some cards I want more.
Alright, I'm in the game now and have 1 invite to hand out. If anyone want, send me a PM with email. I will probably have some qualification criteria for giving it out, so TL regulars are prioritised over 1-post accounts etc..

Cool, you got the firestarter! It took me some time to get warm with flame dawn. But maybe they are for you what warpath is for me, something I just can`t enjoy :/.
I don`t know much about trading or the values of cards yet, I also feel like it is shifting each day with people learning more and more. I could offer you Aleta, Immortal Sorceress, but that is only a rare and even though I think firestarter coyle is not the best legendary, it still is legendary!^^. Just wait until you get owned by a really good flame dawn deck, maybe you will thank god for that firestarter then ;d.
how easy it can be to pick off my single big card, so im trying to think about ways to distribute that risk among more characters.
To that problem, I do not run a single unending drone in my genisis deck. Much rather bad bots, 2 constructors as generals, splitter bots. Then you basicly just have to play 1 card and combine it with a bad bod and can start to use the splitter bot for the next and have two medium strong units. Also splitter bot might be the best card for genisis (except for phase bot, but I do not own one yet).
And the splitter bot or the unmanned aerial drone alone are already strong cards, so even if a buffed one gets taken off, you still have battle field presense.
So I got a Mega Bot 02 in one of my free boosters, my question is what is the most effective way to ramp your resources up to be able to summon it? do you just need to do it with a mix of wealthy nobles and the 9 resources for 1 maximum resource option? Or is there a more effective way to ramp up?
Also, thanks for the advice on Genesis decks man! I hadnt thought about using a bad bot as a commander. Gonna shuffle my deck around and see what I can come up with.

No^^, don`t use a bad bot as a commander, you would have to activate it before you can sacrifice it. use two constructors and aleta the immortal tinkerer.
In generall it`s a bad idea to make a deck just to play Mega Bot 02. If you want to use that card for fun, play in hyper or epic mode (more recourcess per turn). I use it in my regular deck, but I have a shield generator and 3 wealthy nobles, it really is more about surviving until then, but when you happen to find yourself in the lategame it is a great card, even though, out of the last 9 games I only managed to use it in 1.
If you don`t have a shield gen, maybe you can get your hands on a wall of death and run a zombie as one of your commanders, it's what I did before I had that. And you get fear which buys more time.
I dont have any good zombie cards except the aleta card for them
I have a flame dawn paladin that I kind of want to fuse with my current deck to make a gimmick strategy around melding my bots onto him since he has that "must be killed by combat damage" effect.
Right now im mixed with the purple faction (Verune? Vererereerune? I cant remember) for their control cards to help me bide time till I have a 30/30 aerial drone or a Genesis dragon or something.
I used the zombie cards because I had a lot of them. I guess limitation sprouts innovation. Keep tinkering! I didn't play much cult of verore yet, just not my style, but mass death seems essantial and strong, they also have a land that only allows 1 character to attack you, if you have that you should put unending drones back into your deck, you could block for ever, until they remove the land^^, but it has 2 purity, so you won`t be able to use mega unit 02.
I tried Solforge and Duel of Champions before this. None of them kept me in after 2 weeks.
I've played quite some hours in the last days and I'm having fun. Feels much more casual and allows you to mess around a lot, even trollish strategies and terribad decks :D
Being able to play with all factions from the start and the gameplay including mindgames are what I liked most.
If u want an invite just PM me your mail, I got like 3 friend invites and 3 apprentice invites.

I'm playing cult. Games are....interesting to say the least. Get beat down hard and then try to down just enough of my opponent to start getting my 2/2's up. Think I finished one game with a 54/3x and a few others in the 40's. Super snowball so the games I lose arn't bad, just really really quick.
I'm having serious problems beating cultists with most of my decks. Death ray/Lighting just almost guarantee that at least one cultist will get big, and then that one can provide for all the others. You have to be incredibly careful in how you play.

Just had a nice dance vs a flame dawn deck. He rushes me down to 11hp, then Sacullas and I end with 3, that was in round 6. In round 13, just playing prediction poker, dodged six removal cards and two harbingers of light, jumped from my chair when I won. The Mindgames really set this game appart for me.

Played a game or two this morning before work. I'm pleasantly surprised. The interface is pretty smooth and card art/animation is nice to look at. I really like the flavor of the game too. Can't wait to get home to delve more deeply into it.

Hey, just sent you a pm hoping i can get an invite
Well after just playing all the faction campaign to lvl 3, I have to say, I really have mixed feeling about this game. Some mechanics are interesting but some also felt weird. Like being able to move creatures in the defense/offense zone back to the support. Both players plan their turn at the same time but the abilities of one will be played before the other depending on the players turn. Having 2 different way of loosing, HP and Morale. Cards getting buffed while in your hand and sometimes not. It's a lot of new stuff and I'm not really sure I like it.
It's pretty cool that you get a starter deck for each faction for free, even though there's a lot of the same cards. You also get a free booster pack for each level. Trading is a neat option and the different kind of game modes are too. Especially the merged mode. Sounds like a lot of fun.
I will play more for sure to give me a better idea but so far, it doesn't look like my type of TCG/CCG.
Got 4 invites to give away, please do the same as Avs is asking.

I don't have photoshop, but it would be great if someone could add 2 other cards next to calmity and make it one big gif, so that they are all next to each other. I don't want to put them into a single column because it makes the thread too cluttered. I think the animated cards are the highlight of the game. Any concrete thing you want me to add?

Just checked the Card List link to the Aleta's archive. The RISE cards there aren't really updated, meaning the cards we play in-game must have suffered some balance changes.
I enjoy playing this but constructed gets stale quickly. I've heard some people say they'll eventually introduce some kind of draft format, I hope it'll be closer to hearthstone draft than it is to magic (where you buy 3 boosters)
Oh btw, if you wanna get in just use the code TWITCH

Oh hey man, I love the gimp. But each animation has 24 frames and with gimp it is best to single merge and manual relink, for 3 gifs it would take roughly five hours. With Photoshop you can do that in five minutes. Maybe someone has wrote an addon for gimp to handle gifs easier, but I have not heard of it.
Ha, i am stupid, cool, gonna add more cool cards, once i resized them.

That code worked from 10th to 13th october, on the twitch promotion weekend. Did they change it again? There is nothing about it on their official twitter. Have you checked it recently? I mean they do change there policy every three days, so maybe it works again. I'll update the original post if someone could try, I could try myself tonight.
I just updated the original post with their reddit page, there is a sticky where you can request keys aswell, don't know if they would do it like this if TWITCH would still work, still I try later.
They added merge and released ranked 3 days ago, new cards will be ready for preorder in a month. I also hope they go with the hearthstone draft instead of magic. Btw have you tried pauper and single mode?
been messing around with flame dawn, I actually do kind of like them but holy crap have I found that agent coyle card to be hard to use
It isnt a card that can really turn around a game, its more of a card that will help you press your advantage, but by the time you have 7 resources I find the game has already been decided one way or another with Flame Dawn.
On the flip side I got a Genesis Coyle and a phase bot in some packs so my Genesis deck is looking better! Im still missing a Genesis Aleta unfortunately tho If I can get an Aleta and some Angelify's I might be able to make a decent deck!
Gonna see if I can trade this 3 purity DoD Dragon of Wisdom and a couple of my other fancy cards that im pretty sure il never use for some cards I might want. I dont have any idea what its worth tho :S

I'm really enjoying this game so far, the cards are a bit limited at the moment but I'm hoping that will open up later
They did not do a good at all of explaining exactly what the purpose of the commander area was in the tutorial, once I figured out the purpose of the commander area the possibilities of the game opened up exponentially.
Now I'm really seeing a lot of potential depth to the game.
I've been dabbling in Faeria lately and am pretty torn. Infinity wars has a great and unique setting, it sometimes feels much closer to poker than mtg, but at it's core it still is a card game. A fun one with hilarious cards and a very casual welcoming feeling that even let you enjoy your losses. Faeria on the other hand has a standard phantasy world setting, with just as amazing aesthetics admittedly, but the dephness with mixing in settlers of catan as the playing ground for the cards, allow on the one hand for a simple design of the cards and the board, while on the other trumphing Infinity wars in strategic depth in my opinion. Gonna keep playing both for the next few weeks.
Hearthstone looks really dull right now and seems to be directed toward the least common denominator: the casual. Thats just an impression though, still did not get my hands on a beta key, but that does not really bother me anymore^^.
This game is so good lol. I've played MTG for like 15+ years and I know a bit about card games, this one is different. It just needs a Draft mode (they are working on it) and it should be good to go. Hell I will pay money to help them when the next expansion comes out, soon enough I hope!
If the HONEYBALL access code doesn't work anymore PM me for an invite btw.
I don't know if still a thing, but TWITCH used to be a password for the beta, I think.
The game is ok, the system from offensive/defensive ground is new to me and fits well with the game, I don't remeber much about the game but worth a try I guess.
Some changes just got announced. I'm just going to quote the e-mail I just got as I can't seem to find anything about this on their website ^^

I recommend this game to everyone who wants a bit more complex TCG than hearthstone or just wants to see a TCG that plays completely different. The simultaneous turns in this game create a very unique playstyle.
Today this game will basically go into open beta, it will available on steam for free! So a lot of new players will come in, making this the perfect time to get into the game. Also in a few days the 2nd expansion will come out adding another 100 cards to the game. So check it out, IW is probably the most complex free TCG out there atm!
I just started playing also and am rushing down the campaign with a Flame Dawn deck with 26 flame dawn zerglings. That's until I hit the jade defenders + zombie raising every turn level. Then I learned the value of flyers.
I'm too new to give advice on which booster to buy, but I think every set contains cards of all the factions. Now which set contains the good Verore cards? That, I don't know the answer to.
Yeah I was zergling rushing the campaign too. Then I decided that the sleeper AI is too dumb to realize that death worshippers gain +2 while they only gain +1 so I make 60/60 death worshippers and one shot them. It's kinda funny.
Oh, do Verore cards come in the regular boosters too? I wasn't sure if Verore was an expansion faction or what not.
Made a little hybrid deck with the cards I have currently. It seems pretty good though I've only played about 3 games against other players. It seems a little bit unfocused though. And my only win condition is buffed Death worshippers + Show Spoiler +
I think I might need to add more Morale drain so that I have a secondary win condition too.
I just wanna comment on this and say this game a has huge potential, if you like the idea of hearthstone but are looking for something a bit more complex and with more creativity allowed, then this game is really neat.
They have FULLY adapted the game to be for computer, and the result is really cool.
The simultaneous turn system is incredibly awesome, as it almost completely removes the wait while the other player takes their turn. The result is that the game can be played mega-fast, with you actually playing constantly with no downtime. The command system allows for reallly interesting deck design, and it'll only get better as more cards and mechanics are added and smoothed out. Double turns also adds a huge kind of pokerlike bluffing and counterbluffing element to the game.
The client and game are still being worked on so things are a bit buggy and slow, but the core is really really fun and interesting.
Also has anyone had ANY success with the warpath breeding mechanic? It seems incredibly weak. I tried several times to do anything with it and its was laughably terrible.
I think the breeding mechanic can be good against Flamedawn, and Sleepers for free blockers, though it's hard to say because it's pretty slow for flamedawn, and they might just kill you before you get your wall of free shields up. Against Verore it's absolutely dreadful because it just gives them weak units to power up their death worshippers with.
it just seems WAY too slow and the payoff is tiny.
why would I tap 2 beasts and waste my like 18 damage just to get like a 4/4 or a 6/6 next turn. All the beasts are so big compared to the bred token that its just a waste. The 4/4 token is a useless chump that dies to anything and the 6/6 is only one step above that, especially compared to 8/9 One of Many for 3 and really strong tribal buffs. I have also had really no problems with running out of cards, so its just seems silly to breed and not just play another beast.
It feels like they would have to make the tokens literally twice as big for it seem worth it. Or make some really cheap fast beasts for you to tap.
I take that bac. Like 75% of the arena decks I faced today were either the scouting party lucca, or undead with heckeem that returns all 3's from graveyard and just a bunch of plague things that buff undead.
there is almost nothing you can do against these decks except hope they have awful draws. There is like no way to prevent them from getting off the combo because there is barely any removal that can hit command zone before they combo, and removal abilities trigger after come into play abilities, so if you remove lucca or heckeem the same turn they are used you lose anyway. And this is only considering the command zone and not others they have in hand. Hehkeem alone is just absurdly broken, If they make it to turn 7 there is literally nothing in the game that will save you from literally ~30 10+/10+s, and many people have multiples in a deck. Lucca is less strong but so fast there aren't any real counters.
you dont have 30 10/10s in your graveyard at turn 7. if this deck would be so strong, it would be playing in constructed. maybe you just played against the same player with the same deck several times.
also you have to look at rift run rewards a bit different. there is no infinite in this sense like in hearthstone here. the IP rewards are always the same as in constructed just that you get them at the end all together. so you basically always lose the 1000 IP fee but you get some cards and the possibility to buy the deck for it. at 9 wins you get a rare guaranteed, if you win more you dont get better cards anymore. so the only reason to play on is if you want to buy the deck. that is at least the information i have.
^ that is inaccurate. Rift runs yield IP as well as cards and potentially boosters. at 10 wins you will usually see several rares/epics and around 2-3 times the IP it takes to begin a rift run.
what is inaccurate d3su? i didnt say rift runs would not yield IP. you have to compare it to constructed, and the amount of IP is exactly the same, at least i was told that by a high lvl long time player.
salteador you know that it is not always 150 per win right? it depends on the amount of turns/time(?) it just caps at 150, so probably that made your calculation wrong and it is the exact same amount as in constructed. also you get IP for losses as well...
I finally got a sick arena draft, i'm at 14-1 currently, commanders are nothing too special, a scouting drone, the genesis tech aleta (who is crazy good commander), and candit, but they actually work great and give me an ever increasing 6/7 flyer on turn 2. The rest of the deck is pretty much a perfect genesis ramp with flyers and several lucca and constructors, plus a ton of verore removal.
The deck works crazy well and can generate a few giant threats or a ton of smaller ones, so it work well vs anything, and the earlygame is always the same and really strong. Its just strong at at every stage and incredibly consistent.
constructor is absurdly powerful card if you can keep it alive, it essentially gives all artificial creatures you play haste, and once you have ~5 flyers out you can randomly construct your big creature onto a new one every turn you have initiative, so its nearly impossible to target with removal or block cleverly.

Ya its worth getting a few LP to hold on to for those decks. My 21 win deck ended up costing 450, so slightly more than a booster for 2 mass deaths, chained prince, and a summoning stone, among others.
Decided to come back to check out the new Star Trek expansion. First game back I had the closest ranked game I've ever had. + Show Spoiler +
And I ran into this card that removes every copy of that card in your deck and graveyard, and it's not even a unique. Isn't that wildly overpowered? Some decks are based on one or two cards. Being able to completely crush that with a card that doesn't even cost that much seems really, really good.
Anyway, I would love to devote more time into this game, but it just feels like no one plays it. So that's a little disappointing. I feel it definitely deserves more recognition.
Man, this game is so good. I started playing 4 days ago, and I haven't stopped since. Well, I've slept, but I haven't really done much else. I've started streaming rift runs, and the first one I streamed I got 15 wins. This game is replacing hearthstone for me.
wow, this takes a lot of time to download! Even tough it's not big in size. The synchronous turns are super interesting. Mind game potential. And the morale and commanders are interesting too.
So in my continued exploration of the Steam Discovery Queue, I stumbled upon this game, and people seem to be really positive about it, including the folks in this thread, despite the gold three months old box telling me not to bump without a good reason (I hope this is a good reason). Seems like the core game is really well designed and I'm a bit blown away by the amount of effort that they put into actually animating everything, but for some reason it only has like ~300 people online at a time. Any idea what gives? And also does anyone on TL still play? Seems like it deserves at least a bit more popularity given how into online f2p CCGs everyone seems to be these days and how carefully it's crafted.
Community manager is doing a weekly stream (http://www.twitch.tv/infinitywarstcg) every Saturday night (10 pm gmt / iwt) [iwt is the infinity wars (server) time]. Should be Saturday afternoons for the US. Obviously not next week due to Christmas.
The game is absolutely great. There are some bugs here and there but they're really working hard on it despite being only a handful of people behind it.
I think the most important change from the major last build which hasn't been mentioned here is that they have free weekly rotating decks which you can chose to play with, so even if you are a brand new player you can chose a competitively viable deck.
I've only been playing a little more than a month and basically have all the common und uncommon cards (trice) as well as many good rares just from daily free rewards (one card of random quality (have been getting 2 legendaries from that) from login, another one from playing the first 3 games of the day (instead of a card you sometime also get a booster pack = 15 cards). Then furthermore you get another free card for doing weekly quests (3 per week). Note however that every reward you get for free is soulbound (can not be traded).
Important for all starters: Please play all of the campaigns as they rewards you with a shit ton of basic cards (and a free booster with random cards for every level up).
Of course you can buy all booster packs for IP (Infinity Points), which are acquired by playing games or LP (Lightmare Points - which you would have to buy with real money). You really do not have to. I bought a 50-pack (50 booster packs of 15 cards each) of the newest set just from the free accumulated IP. I did buy some LP, but I only used them for cosmetic stuff (cool card backs and battlefield modifications). Also very interesting: You can buy LP from steam wallet money. That is quite insane since steam wallet money is kinda free/otherwise worthless to me (free from steam card drops, useless as I very rarely buy games on steam nowadays). For e.g. I made about 20€ steam wallet money from this years winter sale/event :D
The 300 online users you are talking about aren't exactly right, as many people use the standalone client, so they aren't covered by any steam statistics. There is no doubt though that the relative small playerbase is a problem especially when you play in the middle of the night as you might have long queue times or face the same people all over again.
I think they mentioned they haven't really advertised it very much as of yet as they want to polish it more before trying to go really big. I expect this to not happen before they have made the switch (might still be a while) from the current client to a totally remade one which then also cover a much better server architecture (the lack of it currently causes some bugs that rarely cause disconnects or so called endless turns).
Absolutely most recent news (from tonight actually): As the new set (Order) just has been released last week and the new ladder season starting right now they also announced starting weekly competitions/tournaments for the competitive players with special themes (rulesets concerning what your deck might consists of).
I've nearly abandoned Hearthstone actually due to this game. Be aware though that Infinity Wars seems very complicated when you first start it. You will need to learn all mechanics and some tricks to be able to realize that all the stuff that will crush you is not totally imbalanced.
It is extremely rewarding and fun though to anticipate (simultaneous turns!) you're opponents moves by re-arranging the units on your battlefield (for e.g pulling something (or all cards) back from the attack or defense zone to the support zone to dodge spells that only effect units on the battlefield (= attack and defense zone).
Card art (all animated) and soundtracks are ridiculously fantastic as well. Great game, no doubt.
Here's an older vid showcasing the premium battlefields (but more importantly the Overseers of Solace Soundtrack):
(note that this is from an older version; the game interface looks much more polished now).
And here's a card example :D
PS: Game also has hot chicks (seriously; plenty actually).
PPS: You also get a free Christmas avatar and a specific card with an (awesome) Christmas Alternative Art when you play a game during Christmas (not sure how long this gift will be there, if I had to wildly guess then probably until the 31st).

Well dang, that answered the last part of my question
Yeah, I've been screwing around with the draft and the unranked constructed and it's been fun so far although I still don't really know what I'm doing (although I did beat all the campaigns and stuff at least). Took me a while to figure out what the deal was with all the Aletas, though. Also, feels like there are a lot of cool combinations you can do with this game, especially given the commander "pick three characters to always have at your disposal at the start" dynamic. It's like, man this one card is really good if only I could guarantee having it every turn oh wait I sort of can.
Concerning the Aletas (and Coyles)... the story is definitely not told too well in the game. I still don't know why these 2 survived the Calamity (destruction of everything), but they did and they even exist in each reality now, that's kinda why (nearly) every faction has an Aleta and a Coyle Character. They did say though that they'll move away from this in the future and bring more original characters instead of these two as a given.
The idea about the Commanders is pretty neat. Makes your deck quite consistent (if you stay around the minimum of 40 cards in your deck rather than the maximum of 100) as you do not have to hope to draw them early. Also card draw is less important in this game than for e.g. in HS as there is the trading post (within a match) that lets you draw a card for 5 resources or reshuffle a card you don't need right now and draw another one for 3 resources.
And as you said, it might take a while to figure out all these mechanics, but they make the game truly special and much more skill-based than other trading card games (are there even other virtual card games where you can trade cards with other players at all?).
PS: I also love how you can buy (with LP or IP) a deck you drafted afterwards for the same amount the boosters would have cost (except that your drafted foil legendary for e.g. is guaranteed this way) minus a certain amount for every win you made with it (can turn into completely free).
Wooooo just won a game by totally outmaneuvering an opponent and laying down a sweet Overcharged Storm with some thralls to get bonuses while they lost like 5 guys :D Before that lost to a guy who topdecked Get Him a Jetpack on a crucial turn. Fun times, why don't more people try this game seriously it's easier to play for free than Hearthstone.
