If you ever wanted to play some warcraft again this is a good time.
If you like FFA on a big map vs a lot of other players.

The folks at http://ffamasters.net/ have created an ffa hosting bot and it works great.

Playing an ffa game is very easy now:

Just log in to battle.net, go to custom games and there will be some game called something like FML FFA that you can join. That's it.

It will automaticly update a ladder, http://clan-fml.lunaghost.com/top/1/ and your stats after the game. As you can see FFA is not only chance, or there wouldn't be players with +75% winrates

From time to time there are tournaments that you can subscribe too.

The people at the site do a great job kicking cheaters, you can easily report them and they are on top of it on a daily base. After that the bot auto kicks the cheater.
You can also join games just to observe.

Warcraft 3 was a bit dead when SC2 released, but the FFA scene not anymore, it's alive and kicking and there's a lot of fun and competition.
Waiting times are usually below 5 minutes and you play vs people over the whole world, not just your local server.
A lot of great former FFA players are actively playing it and even returned to the game due to this bot.

Worth checking out

I probably wont be playing but this is music to my ears. Wc3 has probably the best ffa mechanics out of any rts games.

Indeed. And it's fun observing too and a great way to learn the tactics involved.
There is a lot of stuff that doesn't happen in a 1v1 game like when to team the strongest (pre-teaming is forbidden though), when to go to low upkeep to hoard resources, late game micro management with 3 lvl 6+ heroes and a 100 food army, hiding army to appear weak, manipulating players, backstabbing, etc etc. It's a whole different gametype and learning it by watching high level games is really entertaining.

Players often post good games here: http://ffareplays.com/

Funny detail, occasionally former WC3 pro's like Grubby played FFA games vs top members of this community, mostly for fun. And they often had a really hard time winning.

One of these wc3 pro's played FFA quite a lot though and he was actually really good at it, that was DeMuslim.
Pretty sure these replays are still around somewhere

I used to be Ranked #1 US.West on FFA for my university days

Tried to play in the European FFA league, (forgot the name) but it was too hard to micro with the ping from NZ

loved the mind games and the strategy, it was the superior way to enjoy Warcraft 3 in my opinion.

Oh nice What was your name?

The ping issue is also fixed by this bot, everyone plays on their local battle.net vs people around the world and the bot takes care of all the hosting

Some player worth watching if you wanna start playing FFA:
HU: Lightweight, NtropY (Hes only playing 30 apm but still smashing players with 200 apm over him
UD: Magadansky
ORC: Kodos_Forsaken, Persuade
NE: Slythe, Redkeke

30 apm with a million fortified human towers, no thanks. Same with mass batriders/mass tower orcs. Had potential but was never that great unless you like watching LOTR trilogy while you play...! I'd have to check the latest patch but I'd wager they did'nt bring one in since I stopped laddering in TFT.

mass towers isn't really that common, or a particularly good strategy other than having some in your main. Plus towers are really easy to kill in late game ffa so you still need an army

US west was pretty poor in ffa though. I used to rank 20 something on west but had tons of troubles on us east.

You cannot win games with mass towers. They dont give you exp for kills.
