I say 50% chance Dwight returns to Lakers. Money is a big motivator, but he admitted it was a nightmare season, and next year doesn't really have a huge chance to be significantly better. Unless you think their injury prone veteran players are going to be less injury prone when they are even older. Most players take a year to fully recover from an injury like Kobe's, and that is when they are young. They have no cap space and no draft picks, so there is as much chance that they will be worse next year as there is that they will be better.

Now that I think about it idk why Dwight would come back. More money sure but when you're at Dwight's level most of your money comes from endorsements anyway, why pay to stay on and get shit talked about an scapegoated for another 6 years, not to mention the fact that there are people who genuinely think he sucks now when any other team would see a center averaging a double double while injured and call him their franchise player...that can't be good when trying to get endorsement money.

Won't the pressure get worse if he switches teams, again? I guess all three teams on the table are pretty big options. We know LA is committed to building a winner, but do they actually have the tools to? Without a first round draft pick and all the other depth problems, how long before LA can turn around into a serious contender? I guess the situation is less-so for Dallas, and Houston is probably the clear-cut favorite if you want to win soon. Plus McHale could teach him how to actually be a post player.

As for Jason Collins, I think it's actually more important that he's a utility/everyman player. If he were a superstar, everyone would acquiesce to him anyways. It'll show more about people's characters in how they treat a non-spectacular player.

At first, but after it all dies down no one talks about Dallas or Houston ever. I think roster-wise Houston is a good fit, Morey isn't afraid to move Asik if they land him, play him as a 6th man type backup, or maybe have them play super-big and have D12 at the 4 and Asik at the 5. A lineup of Lin/Harden/Parsons/Howard/Asik looks pretty fucking good to me, but if they choose to have Asik off the bench it fixes their problem of their defensive being really shitty when he's off the floor- keep one of Howard/Asik in at all times and they can easily achieve a league-average Defense, assuming that no one else on their roster gets better. And they still have a lot of nice young prospects that could become rotation players next year too.

LA may be committed to winning, but he will have to ride out half a contract before that really becomes viable there. Strangled by Kobes contract and lack of picks is going to hurt LA unless they can attract some nice free agents (within the realm of possibility). I really don't see him leaving, but if he does, I would say Dallas is the best fit if winning immediately is his desire. Winning culture, great coach, a 4 who can space the floor for him, a wing signed for a few years and a owner who is willing to go balls to the wall any year it is a legitimate option to win.

Houston still lacks a stretch 4 which means the paint would become stuffed if they ran their best two bigs, which limits the strength of their 3 other players. They would still be a good team, but I don't see them becoming contenders like the Dallas or LA teams could be. That being said, Morey certainly wouldnt rest until the pieces fit the puzzle more exact so its not like Hoston would be screwed if they did acquire Howard.

Congrats Sacramento, on keeping your team. I still think Seattle is bound to get one in the next few years. I wonder if the NBA will buckle and add a couple expansion teams, even though they said they don't really want to.

The NBA said no to the best arena deal in the history of the league against a deal that wasnt even finished yet in Sac in an inferior economy/market. If this deal wasn't good enough, none will ever be to move a team. Seattle just became the NBA version of the NFL's usage of LA to leverage other cities to build new buildings or risk losing their teams. NBA played Seattle pretty hard. The money the NBA will make forcing cities to build new arenas outweighs the superior bankroll of the Seattle ownership.

Btw, LA is the nation's 2nd biggest market and has no guarantee of getting an NFL team still, Seattle is the 13th biggest market with one of the most powerful billionaires in the world trying to get a team and still failed. Expansion is also off the table, it isn't happening for decades unless Silver stops becoming Stern part 2 and decides to support the city trying to move a team (hasn't happened since the sonics moved and that was the only time it has I believe).
